I recently bought some reagent strips to measure the blood in my urine and it showed trace amounts of hemolyzed blood. I am currently fighting a case of gastroenteritis, is there any connection and should I go back to the Dr?

Now what is with these test strips showing blood in my urine every time I get checked at the clinic ? Should I be concerned ?

I went to the dr this morning and the did a pee pregnancy test and it was negative. ( they use the strips.) I had 6 positive test at home! 1 walgreens digital, 2 clear clue digitals, and 3 dollar tree test. They took blood and I will not get that back until Monday. I read online that the strips are not that great. Is that true? Has any one had this happen. My period is 1 day late. So could it be to soon for the strips to tell? Please Reply.

t sure if concentrated urine was causing false positives. Or if dilluted urine was causing false negatives. I keep all strips in the container they came in. Thank you again!

However, if you can get a blood sugar test kit (and strips) you could test fasting blood sugar (as soon as you wake up and before eating), and 2 hours after meals. If these numbers are high, then you would need to see a doctor. Keep an eye out, there may be free blood sugar testing offered by some pharmacies / in malls from time to time. Why do you think you have diabetes? WHat are your symptoms?

The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.

I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???

Why not buy a pack of urine reagent test strips that you can use to test your urine for protein. A pack of 100 strips can be had for not too much money ($12.00 to around $50 depending on the brand). Find them through Google. Then if you see that you do have protein in your urine, you could use the strip as evidence to show your primary doctor that you need a referral to a nephrologist. I like the idea of using strips for testing at different times of day.

I've proceeded with 3 IUIs and 2 IVFs. What i know is if you are worried about an sti, you need to go for urine tests. Wbc doesnt tell u what sti u have. Thats why there are specific sti test for the uti.

Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Last night he tested positive for keytones in his urine. According to the test strips he had moderate to large ketones. Today he continues to test positive but with definate large results. I took him to see his pediatric doctor today and he actually call in an associate to look at him, also. Although together the two doctors ran all kinds of test on my grandson all they could really find wrong with him was large levels of keytones, a fever, and general flu like symtoms.

So I've been told that this gender test from walgreens has been pretty accurate for some women & I really wanna know if anyone else has used it & it was correct??

you are suppose to use urine to perform the test. You put some of your urine in the cup they give you (it has some sort of particles in it) then you swirl it around and read it within 10 min. and a certain color means boy and a certain color means girl.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant. At around 19 weeks, after having urethral pain for 2 weeks, I went to the ER as i was certain I did have a UTI, even though my doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me the leukocytes and bacteria found were from contamination. Go to walgreens or cvs and they sell strips to test your milk for alcohol, that way you dont end up throwing away perfectly good milk :)
