Avatar n tn I recently bought some reagent strips to measure the blood in my urine and it showed trace amounts of hemolyzed blood. I am currently fighting a case of gastroenteritis, is there any connection and should I go back to the Dr?
Avatar m tn Now what is with these test strips showing blood in my urine every time I get checked at the clinic ? Should I be concerned ?

Avatar n tn t sure if concentrated urine was causing false positives. Or if dilluted urine was causing false negatives. I keep all strips in the container they came in. Thank you again!
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar f tn I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
1973666 tn?1325964688 Why not buy a pack of urine reagent test strips that you can use to test your urine for protein. A pack of 100 strips can be had for not too much money ($12.00 to around $50 depending on the brand). Find them through Google. Then if you see that you do have protein in your urine, you could use the strip as evidence to show your primary doctor that you need a referral to a nephrologist. I like the idea of using strips for testing at different times of day.
Avatar f tn I've proceeded with 3 IUIs and 2 IVFs. After the trigger shot for one IUI and one IVF I tried to "test out" the hCG using pregnancy testing strips, 12 hours, 24 hours and 48 hours after the injections. I used a different brand of hCG for IUI and IVF. All test strips were negative. I used them correctly, and they were purchased for the "test-out." I have endometriosis, autoimmune disease that attacks my adrenals, ovaries and reproductive cells (killer-cells).
Avatar n tn I am a type 2 diabetic and recently lost my job and my health insurance, I have not been able to afford to get my medicines and my blood glucose levels have been horrible, I ran out of glucose strips about a month and a half ago and they were running in the high 300's and even into the 400's. Here lately I have been going to the bathroom ALOT and I'm sure my keytones are very high, because I have lost about 30 lbs. in the last 2 months.
Avatar f tn What i know is if you are worried about an sti, you need to go for urine tests. Wbc doesnt tell u what sti u have. Thats why there are specific sti test for the uti.
Avatar n tn Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.
Avatar m tn ( cant find any. My urine test was done at a labratory not in the doctors office.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, Six days after having sex with a girl, I started feeling needles in my groin but no rash and felt burning while urinating. 30 days after sex I decided to get checked for STDs with blood and urine tests even though I couldn't see any rash or any other signs in my groin area.

Avatar n tn Last night he tested positive for keytones in his urine. According to the test strips he had moderate to large ketones. Today he continues to test positive but with definate large results. I took him to see his pediatric doctor today and he actually call in an associate to look at him, also. Although together the two doctors ran all kinds of test on my grandson all they could really find wrong with him was large levels of keytones, a fever, and general flu like symtoms.
Avatar m tn Yeah, but it's the fact that the blood glucose test strips were in there that worries me,not the water itself.....
Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks pregnant. At around 19 weeks, after having urethral pain for 2 weeks, I went to the ER as i was certain I did have a UTI, even though my doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me the leukocytes and bacteria found were from contamination. I was in considerably more pain that same night so headed to the ER where they confirmed I had a UTI and put me on cephalexin. I took it for 4 days until I started having diarrhea.
Avatar n tn Test strips that change color to reveal the amount of a substance in a liquid (for example, sugar in urine, ketones in urine, certain meds/drugs in urine, high-school "litmus paper" tests for the amount of acid or base), give a general indication of how much of that substance is present in the liquid. The tests that give an exact number (such as a modern blood sugar meter) gives a more precise indication.
446156 tn?1275859576 I was told that they will contact me Monday. Sigh..... I wish i could had got the blood test earlier in the week but i had to work. Still no sign of AF! I looked online and it said that my due date would be june 10th.
Avatar f tn I have been using home uti test strips to determine whether I have any white blood cells in urine. None have come back positive but some have some back with a "trace" of wbc. Whatever that means. What are chances this is nsu? If it is, will it go away on its own? What type of testing should be done to confirm status? Is my wife at risk if there is not clamydia or gonnorhea? Any help would be great.
Avatar f tn you had a period in dec after condom broke in nov,so no pregnancy there.dont use strips invest in a descent test.or ask doctor for blood test.
Avatar m tn These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period). Rather than a normal blood test that would only show the sugar levels at the time you gave your blood for testing.
7165836 tn?1388803685 Whereas leucocytes and protein indicate an infection in the urinary tract. Blood in the urine in men should always be investigated. In women, it can sometimes be from the menstrual cycle. The urinary tract is anywhere from the kidneys right down to the urethra. Like mkh9 mentions, it is extremely important for you to drink plenty of water. 2-3 litres per day is usually advised for kidney problems.
Avatar f tn Excess glucose is sent to the kidneys to be expelled and is captured in your urine. The blood test administered by the nurse and the urine test results will depend on the last time you ate food and/or drank a colored liquid. The best test to determine whether you have diabetes or not is an A1c (HbA1c) test. Go here for an explanation http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003640.
