Common Questions and Answers about Blood in mucus nasal

blood

Avatar f tn Your symptoms of blood in the mucus could be due to sinusitis. They can cause inflammation of the nasal mucosa and the bleeding. Sinus infections can cause stuffiness of the nose with nasal blockage, which can make breathing through the nose difficult. It can also cause post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. But it could also be due to other causes like polyps or other inflammatory causes due to allergens or infections of the nasal mucosa.

Avatar f tn Off and on I notice streaks of blood in the mucus in my throat. I have allergies and always have post nasal drip. The mucus is clear, not discolored so I don't think it's an infection. I don't smoke or drink. Can allergies cause blood in your mucus? I don't have the money to go to an ENT and my reg doctor told me he doesn't know. Oh, also, when I notice the blood, I haven't had a bloody nose or picked my nose or anything.
Avatar f tn My concern is that when I try to clear the roof of my mouth... like snort to remove mucus.. my mucus has blood in it. Is this something to worry about ?

Avatar n tn Hello, As far as I have understood the query,it seems to be related to phlegm in throat. This may be due to post nasal drip. Post-nasal drip (PND) occurs when excessive mucus is produced by the sinuses. The excess mucus accumulates in the throat or back of the nose. It can be caused by rhinitis, sinusitis, or laryngopharyngeal acid reflux. It can be enhanced or sometimes even caused by allergies. Pls check out with an ENT specialist if you are having chronic rhinitis or sinusitis.

Avatar n tn Hello, All these symptoms are leading to the possibility of chronic post nasal drip. Post-nasal drip is mucus accumulation in the back of the nose and throat leading to, or giving the sensation of, mucus dripping downward from the back of the nose. Post-nasal drip can be caused by excessive or thick secretions, or impairment in the normal clearance of mucus from the nose and throat.

Avatar m tn I have been experiencing similar symptoms for about 2 months. Have had an exhaustive number of tests done at ENT and an Allergist. All results have come back negative for any allergy or issue with sinuses. It has progressively getting worse, especially in the evening ? Feels like a lot of mucus collecting in the back of my throat, and it won't budge ! Have tried several recommendations from various sources, however no relief in sight!! All I know for certain at this point is what it is NOT.

850029 tn?1238857820 s been treating it with antihistamines (Zyrtec) and a nasal spray. I do nasal rinses and have try to eliminate as many allergens as possible. I have no fragrance in my house, clean often etc........ I live in Minnesota and we have yet to get to the "spring time" allergies. Luckily I'm not allergic to mold so the wet ground after the snow melting doesn't bother me. I've continued to be stuffed up and have sinus pressure.

728309 tn?1367533320 I had a cold last week, and feel better this week, but still have a lot of mucus in the back of my throat. Can anyone recommend a remedy to help clear it out?
Avatar f tn The sinuses are air-filled spaces lined with mucous membranes surrounding the forehead, cheeks and eyes. Healthy sinuses allow mucus to drain and air to circulate throughout the nasal passages. When sinuses become inflamed, these areas get blocked and mucus cannot drain. This lack of proper sinus drainage can lead to infection. Worse pain in the morning because mucus has been collecting and draining all night.

Its when I hack up and it makes that ugly sound. I feel a little dizzy and weak now. But Could the blood be from irritated nose and throat from constantly doing that.

Avatar m tn The thought behind being cool is that the pain is a result of swelling in the nasal cavity/sinuses that presses against a nerve or something and keeping cool means the swelling doesn’t happen. He can take Sumatriptan tablets, which help reduce blood vessels, and these seem to work but he's limited to 8 a month. The feeling he has is that there is a blockage or the nasal valve in the right nostril has collapsed or malfunctioned.
