Avatar f tn ve had frequent urination, especially at nighttime (nocturia) and this freaked me out about having Diabetes type 2. I have no dryness in the mouth or skin, no dizziness, no weakness or another diabetes-like symptom. I have heard that one have to be at least in pre-diabetic stage in order to have established DM type 2. Is it true? In my case, that I had normal glucose levels and no evidence of pre-diabetes 12 months ago, is it likely that my symptoms are due to established DM type 2?
215816 tn?1212490407 I took the one hour test, and they were able to tell I had whats called gestsational diabetes ( happens to pregnant women during pregnancy) usually it goes away after you give birth, in my case it turned into type 1 diabetes . If you are a type 2 you can control it with keeping your weight down, and eating a healthy diet, some people need med. but those tend to be people who are over weight or not eating right. hope this helps..

Avatar n tn Although there's no cure for type 2 diabetes, studies show it's possible for some people to reverse it. Through diet changes and weight loss, you may be able to reach and hold normal blood sugar levels without medication. This doesn't mean you're completely cured. Type 2 diabetes is an ongoing disease.
Tbd Besides being overweight which is the most common reason, there's a lot of other reasons that may cause diabetes type 2. Another thing is age, the older you get, the chance are bigger you can get diabetes. I know it's already written, but I'll write it again, if you want to prevent it you should, of course, pay attention to nutrition and your eating habits in general. You can read more in the article below. https://www.hsph.harvard.
Avatar n tn I didn't read the whole article. First few pages were so unreal, I couldn't read the rest. Well, if an individual's staple food are carbs, and he's a diabetic of any type, then there's no other way to lower the blood glucose except with drugs. That's the law of the nature. It's gonna be like that untill someone extraordinary finds a way to completely fix type 2. Type 1 will never be fixed, but one day we may understand why it happens and will be preventable.
514349 tn?1272801633 you should give the values on these tests. example for blood glucose you need to have certain values or range that can help doctor assess if your pre diabetic or diabetic or needs additional test.
Avatar f tn Usually, when extra weight is a factor, the reason for type 2 diabetes is high levels of free fatty acids and triglycerides in the blood (they interfere with glucose absorption in muscle cells). The only sure way to lower the levels of fatty acids and triglycerides in the blood is to get rid of excess body fat. Then muscle cells will be able to feed on glucose unimpeded and this will lead to its lower level in the blood.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but the mom of type one diabetic and the daughter of type 2 diabetic. I would suggest you make an appointment with your primary care physician or endocrinologist and ask him to test you for diabetes. There are several tests that they can do that are simple that can tell if you are have high blood sugars or if you are diabetic. The ranges of acceptable blood sugars usually depend on your age and sometimes build.
Avatar f tn I just realized that I haven't seen my diabetes specialist in about three years. On my last visit she "discharged" me to the care of my internist. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 5 years ago, at age 62. My glucose levels are stable at around 110, hB!ac 5.9. I've recently lost 25 kg, do some mild exercise and feel good. I'm taking metformin twice a day (750 mg).
Avatar m tn Hi, i made up an OGTT test (75 gr) and my glucose level after 2 hours is 43 mg/dl which can be a hypoglycemia. I am not quite sure about the accuracy of this test becuse after 1 hour i was active and i think that this can lower my glucose level. My questions are : What can be the normal glucose level after 3-4 hours lunch or dinner time.(mine is lower after 4 hours) If i make daily activity is it normal to have lower values? If i make exercise , can this lower my glucose level.

Avatar m tn I always take 2 or 3 pulkas or chapathis during night every day and i dont eat rice during night.. But whenever i check the blood glucose levels with the glucometer, i find that the fasting values are not within the range of normal values viz 110 for fasting. but the post lunch levels always within the normal range of viz 140.The random levels always varies from 125 to 150. Avatar n tn Hi, For many people with Type 2 diabetes this high morning sugar is the first issue with glucose to develop. Normal glucose management involves not only keeping it normal while not eating(the overnight fast) but also after eating(values during the rest of the day).Sometimes one area starts going awry while the other is still okay for the time being.
