Blood glucose test fasting

Common Questions and Answers about Blood glucose test fasting

blood

Avatar f tn I would recommend recording your blood sugar levels fasting, and 1 hour after you eat and speaking about it with your doctor. The fasting level that you mention in your question is elevated. You want to speak with your doctor soon, so that you can get your sugars regulated either by diet and exercise or medications if that is what is recommended. It also might be helpful to keep a food journal until you see your doctor.
Avatar n tn My daughter is having a blood test tomorrow for Glucose and Sex Hormones (She is a teenager with Ovarian Failure). As a consequence she is 'off' her BCP and has been for nearly six weeks. Please, how may this affect the Glucose results? For my daughter, 'normal' means being on BCP/HRT - she'll need to be on HRT for the next 35 yrs! However, I have read that BCP/HRT elevates results...
4695766 tn?1358179885 I just had a fasting glucose test results were 150, doctor wants me to get more tests done. Does it sound like I'm diabetic? My mom was one.
Avatar f tn Am due for glucose testing. Im really hungry how many hours in between do i need to fast to be sure the test comes out right .
Avatar n tn The office nurse called me today and said that everything was okay w/the lab results except that the blood glucose test result was 54. She then asked if I had fasted before the appointment, which I had not. In fact, I had eaten breakfast no more than 2 hours before. I'm always tired, sometimes "bottoming out", get blurred vision at times, and sometimes feel faint. Do the #54 and the other symptoms indicate hypoglycemia and is that the same as having Diabetes?
Avatar n tn 108 to 132 mg/dL), but my HbA1c remains normal or near-normal (range: 4.5 to 5.3%). My fasting insulin and C-peptide are within normal ranges. A low-carbohydate diet (<100 grams/day) did not help; increasing my activity level helped somewhat. I would describe myself as a very anxious person and, in the past year, would probably have satisfied the criteria for Generalized Anxiety Disorder, if I had chosen to seek medical help (doing a bit better now, thanks).
1128565 tn?1316724743 Hi All I went to a health fair and had blood taken out of my finger and the reading was 7.50. So the Dr sent me for a glucose fasting test and thank goodness it came below the range at 4.80 but I don't understand what it means?? I also have an under-active thyroid, I do get alot of tingling and numbness in my hands. Could anyone please explain these results.
Avatar m tn Hi, I want to ask about my blood test. I had fasting glucose 98 (normal is 74-100) and hba1c 4.8. Is this what i should be worried about? Is such high level of glucose can develop organs damages?
Avatar f tn I haven't been diagnosed with diabetes but have recently been checking my fasting blood glucose myself pre-breakfast. Can fasting blood glucose vary each day from normal to high in pre-diabetes? Eg one day day 5.1 mmol (91mg/dl), several around 6.1 mmol (110mg/dl) then 7.8 mmol (140mg/dl) Thanks So my fasting glucose ranges from normal to high Question, can pre-diabetes have fasting glucose levels that vary from day to day from some days as normal to other days being high?
Avatar n tn The problem is, the glucose number (after fasting) was 125. The reference rage on that line was 70-126. My last phsyical 2 years prior with a different doctor included complete blood work. I did not get written results from that physcial just a call from the nurse saying everything was normal. My current doctor is board certified in internal medicine and his his CV says he has an interest in diabetes. Am I missing something? Is 125 considered "very good".
159619 tn?1538184537 You should have another fasting blood test done in 1 year to follow up and consider a 2-hour glucose challenge as well.
Avatar f tn Hi, like 6 weeks ago i had a blood test and my fasting glucose was 118.8 mg/dl 2 weeks later fasting was 115.2 mg/dl. Now 2 weeks ago it was 126.54 mg/dl. (and i am on diet for more then a year and also take medicine). Could these results mean that i developed diabetes?
638537 tn?1222965283 Is it alright to drink a lot of water while fasting for a blood glucose test in the morning? I ask because if I'm dehydrated, perhaps my blood volume will be low, thereby increasing my blood glucose concentration, and test result. As well, since diurectics decrease blood volume, don't they increase the concentration of glucose, thereby increasing the parts per volume test result?
Avatar f tn Ask him/her for the C-Peptide test as Zoe suggested along with a thyroid [TSH test] checked. Abnormal thyroids can and will disrupt blood glucose levels. Lastly, along with morning fasting testing it is important to know when to test [prandial & postprandial], especially with strenuous exercise. Post back if unsure and we can provide the times.
Avatar f tn A lot of doctors are now just taking a blood sample for a test called A1C. The A1C test is a common blood test used to diagnose type 1 and type 2 diabetes and then to gauge how well you're managing your diabetes. The A1C test goes by many other names, including glycated hemoglobin, glycosylated hemoglobin, hemoglobin A1C and HbA1c. The A1C test result reflects your average blood sugar level for the past two to three months.
Avatar f tn Any body fail the glucose test? I did and now I have to be checking my blood 4 times a day but I'm confused idk if a certain number is good or bad... Since yesterday it came out 60,74,73,95 And today in the morning was 73,71,69 but then I ate a banana split and came to 105 ...
Avatar f tn I'm so pissed my doctor sent to do a blood glucose test gave me instructions not to fast and now that I got here the nurse told me I have to fast for it to be correct... like what the f***... has anyone had to take that 3 hours test cause of not fasting??
Avatar n tn OTHER THAN the glucose tolerence test, the next best indicator of diabetes would be a simple fasting blood sugar test? A fasting blood sugar test on myslef was 88. Is this acceptable?
Avatar f tn In going for my glucose test tomorrow and I was wondering if it was OK to eat before the test or not. I have heard it was ok but I have also heard that you shouldn't because it will mess the test up. What should I do?
Avatar f tn I just got home from by blood glucose test and feel really sick and tired. Is this normal? Does it mean something is wrong?
Avatar m tn 5 A better test is GTT (glucose tolerance test)
1538488 tn?1331486905 My fasting blood glucose is 110-125 mg/dl.hba1c is 7.96. My age is 57 years. After 2 hrs of b/f 165-190mg/dl. No medication.Glucose level slightly increase after exercise in the morning .What action is to be taken?
Avatar n tn I have always suffered from hypoglycemic attacks (increased pulse rate, dizziness, shaking, etc.) when I go too long without eating. However, my fasting glucose was 102 during a recent test. That seems odd to me - I was very suprised to find out that it was high instead of low. Does anyone know what this might mean? Hope I'm not posting in the wrong area... just thought someone might have some insight. Thanks!
Avatar n tn I can understand the confusion when a lab has conflicting ranges. Why that is is unknown and only can be answered by the lab. Not all labs, or hospital labs, use the same ranges, in fact most are different from one to the other. Another puzzling fact is I know of labs within the same company that use different ranges. The big question is why doesn't the FDA and AACE [American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist] set stricter guidelines?
Avatar f tn Ok so I failed my one hr glucose test. I attempted my three hr one but after the first hour it all came right back up and my face was really broke out for two days. So now they want me to take it again. What if it comes back up. I'm almost 32 wks and I just feel like they should give up already or find another solution.
