9971658 tn?1407747583 Hi girls, I had my 3h sugar test last week and got back my blood test result today... and appearntly my body is struggeling to break down the sugar and they think I could now be diabetic?? I didn't have this issue prior of pregnancy and I consider myself fit and healthy. I don't eat a whole lot of sweets (I dislike most sweets actually) etc etc.. I've always been small sized, used to run before I got pregnant - not regulary but still..
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with these two brand names but as a general statement, the best way to assess blood glucose levels is by using a human glucometer and test strips and not checking the urine. Urine glucose levels fluctuate significantly and then as the urine collects and sits in the bladder, everything gets mixed together. So essentially the urine glucose level is like an average over many hours. Your vet can show you how to easily collect a drop of blood from your cat.
956931 tn?1271639769 Good Afternoon, I just spoke with the Coordinator of my study about the glucose issue. My last blood glucose was 97 before the "week one" blood draw last week which indicated a blood glucose of 114. My Hgb A1C was 6.1 and needed to be under 7.0; which it is. So I am not excluded due to my blood sugar as it is not at this time a problem and falls well within the range of acceptable.
866901 tn?1505509836 In googling "blood glucose test strips", I found several websites which offered test strips and glucometers at varying prices (ie.http://www.diabetesnet.com/test_strips.php). Since your cat is going to need lifelong care, it will pay for you to shop around.
Avatar f tn I want to check my cat for glucose, there are home-tests available, but I don't know if urine test gives the same result as blood test. Has anyone used Glucotest or PawCheck? Both are home tests. Appreciate any feedback.
Avatar m tn The human meter ranges would be lower. I home test her - it is important to know what the blood glucose is before giving insulin, as you know. I learned everything about home testing from the people experienced with diabetic kitties on this site. Just type in www.felinediabetesd.com and look for Lantus (Glargine) links. If you could check around and ask for a Vet who is experienced with home testing, it would be better.
4105307 tn?1369535032 What is the largest safe dose of insulin for a 12 pound cat with diabetes and cushing's disease?
866901 tn?1505509836 Mine and my mom's cat is diabetic- does anyone know where to get cheap test strips? Or a cheap glucometer that comes with the sample 10 strips? I have to do the blood sugar curve every few months on the poor guy (I volunteer to do them to save money at the Vet)--and the test strips are a little over $1 a piece and only come in quantity 50 or 100..and those would expire long before we used all because I only use 4 strips each time I test-- so it's such a waste!
Avatar f tn Periodic blood glucose checks in hospital 4. Periodic blood glucose checks in hospital with fructosamine blood test 5. Urine glucose monitoring at home In my humble opinion, as long as the veterinarian is managing the diabetic pet in a manner that is comfortable to them and the owner is comfortable, there is no right or wrong way.
Avatar n tn According to the blood tests your cat has: Hyperthyroid, Hypoglycemia, elevated liver enzymes, elevated cpk (which indicates increased muscle breakdown), and lymphopenia/leukopenia. If the hyperthyroid value is accurate, and your cat is indeed hyperthyroid, it cause increased breakdown of muscle and other tissues due to over metabolism or catabolism. Once corrected the cpk value and liver values may return to normal.
Avatar f tn I've never had a glucose level over 90 on any blood test. I've had to have labs done several times throughout the last couple of years. It's usually 70-80. Once 90. Never anything else. I have to go in tomorrow for testing because my urine has had a strange odor. I don't want to say it's sweet but it's kinda similar. I've never been overweight and have never had a recorded high glucose level.
Avatar n tn BUN, Creatine, Phosphorus, Calcium, Potassium. You also have not listed a blood glucose level. Your vet could also test for feline leukemia and feline aids. Additional tests that may be helpful include a bartonellosis test, and tests for other infectious diseases. From the bloodwork your cat does not appear to have fatty liver disease at this time. Feel free to post any additional blood work results if I can help you further.
541150 tn?1306037443 And I cannot offer less because my other cat is in perfect condition. Dillan went through blood tests recently. I always tell my vet to test for absolutely everything. It all came back normal. On the other hand, Abby’s weight is alarming. Now that I think about it he does seem depressed. He is just not the same cat anymore and I have no idea how to bring him back or what is causing it. You know, every time Dillan approaches him he’ll growl. That’s a sign that he does not feel well.
Avatar f tn P.S. Another question you could ask is what is her blood glucose? It can be high at the Vet due to stress. Do you have a copy of her bloodwork lab results? If not, ask for a copy.
Avatar f tn My oral meds, and insulin have not been successful in bringing my Blood Sugar below 210. I was in the hospital for two days, and every test came back negative. I have been having bad dizzy spells, and they gave me a cat Scan, MRI, EKG, and artery scan. Can you give me any information about what may be happening to cause the increase?
Avatar m tn Take that money you were going to use to purchase the home tests your listed and take your kitty for professional medical advice. Our cat was diagnosed with diabetes through a blood test. The blood test is not expensive atleast not here in Canada. Diabetes is nothing to fool around with. If your kitty has diabetes she needs proper medical attention, probably special food which will need to be determined by your vet and the amount of food has to be determined too. Good luck.
365714 tn?1292202708 I did home testing and took her blood glucose myself. I check her blood glucose every so often to make sure she's okay. Good luck with the insulin; what is the name of this insulin? It sounds like you have a good Vet who will work with you. Starting out on a small dose is the best thing to see how your kitty reacts. It sounds like it was caught early, too. Keep us posted.
Avatar n tn In the trips to the ER, they did diagnose a bladder infection with blood, WBC, and bacteria present. I was treated with a 10 day course of Septra. I asked for another urinalysis and urine culture yesterday. The automatic urinalysis (no culture) indicated no glucose, no ketones, 1.030 specific gravity, UA HCB of 2+, PH of 5.0, no protein, no nitrates, leukocyte esterase of 2+, normal urobilinogen (24 hour)--which is funny cuz they only had the sample like 4 hours, bilirubin 1+.
341655 tn?1240372439 I am 28 years old and have extreme high bloodAmylase - blood Bleeding Blood cells Blood clot formation Blood clots Blood culture Blood differential Blood gases Blood gases test Blood glucose monitoring Blood in semen pressurePressure ulcer, especially at night. 140/100. Avatar m tn Also normal were the SHBG and Testosterone. My Glucose was 83 and Mean Blood Glucose was 111 - Don't know if these are normal values. Pending Results: 17 OHProgesterone. When I asked my PCP about the posiitve result for the SMA AB finding she stated and I quote "The smooth muscle antibody is borderline at 1:80; the other antibodies and markers for autoimmune disorders are negative, including your sed rate.
1358341 tn?1282213443 Her Urea is normal, although she had drink and eat before blood test, it is 0,524g/L. But she drinks a lot: each time she awakes up she wants food and water. In veterinary there is Epakitin, there is still a lot left from the 2other cats, Veterinary says I can give her. But here they don't sell Azodyl. I don't know if it is good and if we can give without prescription. And if there is something else known there that has got no secondary effects.
1356964 tn?1302091035 I am always paranoid about Diabetes since I had a cat who developed High Glucose levels but was brought down to normal when taken off of dry and given strictly grain free canned. Just curious, thought I would get some feed back on the care of other cat owners and a poll on "how many times a day does your cat pee!!!!!
492921 tn?1321293496 I now have a bruised feeling in my calf when I touch it or if I flex that muscle. I went in today for my glucose test and two other blood tests. I usually am peeling the cotton ball off as soon as I get to my car and there will be a tiny spec of blood not very noticible on the cotton ball. Today I decided to leave it on and went to the bank and when I got back to my car I went to take it off and noticed there was blood bleeding through the tape. I removed it and I was still bleeding.
Avatar n tn I had some white fleshy stuff past through me today with some blood. I'm scared I had a pregnancy test done I'm not pregnant. I'm scared because I don't know whats going on with me. I cant even have sex if i wanted too. I need some help my doctor seems like she can help but doesn't pursue it or anything. The bleeding is unbearable. The pain I just try too deal with it but I need help. Please if anyone knows what to do help me please. I need relief my periods are a hassle.
6573002 tn?1383661437 It wasn't flagged so I'm guessing that's normal. So I'm not diabetic, A1C was 5, passed glucose tolerance test...the only thing I can think this is is stress induced hypoglycemia although the endo said its prob a blood pressure issue more so than a sugar one. She said "See you in 1-2 months". I've been sick and out of work for over a month and I want to fix this. My prescriber raised my anxiety meds and it seems to have helped and I am doing my best to stay calm.
Avatar n tn At the time of her CHF, it was dicovered she had diabetes, but is now under control. Her blood glucose level is an average of 110 before dinner. Her weekly blood tests at the blood center for Coumadin level is at 2.5 (good). **My question that I seek an answer is as follows: My mother recently developed a red rash on both legs below the knees. The rash is small red spots that do not itch or hurt. The rash has not broken through the skin and each spot is no bigger than a pencil eraser (6 mm).
Avatar n tn 4 years ago I had gross hematuria at the end of urination.Went to my DR. and Went for urine test, cat scan and catyscopy. Everything turn o.k. Avatar m tn ) I called my doctor and he told me to go the emergency room. So i went to the Er, and after 10 hours, blood tests, cat scan, and urine tests, they tell me they "think" I have a uti. I have NO PAIN what so ever. I feel fine, yet I was peeing blood like it was normal.
