1813627 tn?1337722375 a blood glucose test is normal when you first see the doctor around 8 to 10 weeks if your doctor thinks you have a risk factors for gestational diabetes such as being overweight. I am overweight and the doctor does 1 for me at 8 weeks and then again later on at the normal time. also your number could have been high if you didn't fast the night before.
Avatar n tn Can someone tell me what a normal glucose level for a child is? For example a child has a small bowl of cereal and then is tested within an hour of that meal. This would be after having nothing else for the prior 12 or more hours. The reading was 144. Is that considered in a normal range?
Avatar m tn Today I ate a breakfast burrito and had orange juice. My blood glucose was 92 thirty minutes after eating. Sometimes it will fall in the 60 range. My fasting blood glucose level was around 80. It seems like my body overcompensates when I consume sugar. Do you think I have reactive hypoglycemia?
Avatar n tn ve been having troubles lately before I knew my blood sugar was high, after I would eat I would feel very bad, not knowing I had high blood sugar I was leading a normal diet, even some fast food here and there, I'm sure my blood sugar has been very very high until I started dieting now. Are those numbers normal or should I be worried?
Avatar f tn After we eat, excess glucose is stored in the liver as glycogen to maintain normal glucose levels in our body. In GSD I, the enzyme needed to release glucose from glycogen is missing. When this occurs, a person cannot maintain his or her blood glucose levels and will develop hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) within a few hours after eating. The low levels of glucose in the blood of these individuals often result in chronic hunger, fatigue, and irritability.
Avatar n tn Many folks look to the fasting BG (blood glucose) reading as the indicator for diabetes. In recent years, however, there's an interest in doing what's called a 2-hour post-prandial (after eating) blood test, since those are often affected sooner than one's fasting test. If any of your diabetic family members live close enuf, perhaps you can test 2 hours after a meal with them.
Avatar f tn Some women have very high levels of glucose in their blood, and their bodies are unable to produce enough insulin to transport all of the glucose into their cells, resulting in progressively rising levels of glucose. Diagnosis of gestational diabetes is made during pregnancy. The majority of gestational diabetes patients can control their diabetes with exercise and diet. Between 10% to 20% of them will need to take some kind of blood-glucose-controlling medications.
Avatar n tn I am a type two diabetic. I check the blood glucose levels of my four year old son with my meter often. The levels have always been good. The other night however he ate a lot of his Halloween candy and I check his sugar a couple of hours after he had eaten it and his BG level was 159. This really worried me because his sugar levels had never been this high. I checked again in thirty minutes and it was 133. I checked it again in two hours and it was 106.
Avatar f tn I have been monitoring my blood sugars at home since at a doctor visit my fasting glucose was 135. Every morning in the past week I have taken it (on empty stomach) it has been in the 130's, only one time it was 114. All throughout the day it is between 129 and 158, sometimes it is 192, 263. I had blood drawn today for A1c, should get the results in a couple of days. I am wondering if these numbers are normal, or do I have a problem?
Avatar f tn Foods that digest slowly instead of having a high glycemic index may be the best help for your child to help level off the glucose numbers. I would suggest that you look closely at whether the child has any allergies, too, for they can wreck havoc on glucose levels. I would agree with you that it is not OK for his blood sugar to be fluctuating this wildly, but until they either stay high or stay low a lot, there probably isn't a whole lot that doctors can do.
Avatar n tn My son has type two diabetes and is 20 years old. He has had it for approximately 8 years. Here is the problem. His blood sugar will plummet to 20 if I'm not with him, and he goes into seizures. We've met with doctors and have tried to follow their advice, but since he is an adult, he handles it his way. Help. I'm afraid that he is going to die. I scheduled to meet with the screening board at Robert Wood Johnson for a pancreas transplant, but he refused to go.
Avatar n tn I would do two things; first, fasting test with another meter and with yours at the same time to see if yours is out of calibration; two, I would get an A1c test to verify normal glucose level. If the A1c results are normal, don't fret anymore.
Avatar n tn 0, FBS= 96, thyroid, cholesterol, and blood count were all normal)We went to see the pediatric endocrinologist, who ordered more blood testing. The glucose tolerance test results were: fasting = 87, 30 min = 166, 60 min = 119, and 120 min = 108. We are pending results of insulin levels, and hopefully will get them back soon. We also had antibody testing done which were all negative (islet cell, GAD, and insulin). I am waiting for the doctor to call me back.
173119 tn?1296999736 Hi, Yes it is normal for blood sugars to be higher when you are sick. Should go back down to normal when you recover.
Avatar n tn In the event that you had an arbitrary blood glucose test, an ordinary outcome relies upon when you last ate. More often than not, the blood glucose level will be underneath 125 mg/dL (6.
Avatar n tn I'm a ftm and I'm still really early at 8w2d. Last Friday I had my first appointment and had a lot of blood work done which is normal but I'm getting the tests back with not a lot of explanation. Its making me a little nervous. The thing that worries me the most is that the glucose test came out about 5 points high and I have to go in for the 3 hour glucose test. Has anyone had this happen and ended up not having anything wrong? I'm fearing the worst and hoping for the best.
Avatar m tn After managing to arouse him just a little, I ended up calling 911. It turns out his glucose was only 40 and he had an elevated white blood count (27,000). He was admitted and evaluated for intessuption (sp? he didn't have it) and given glucose. After one bag he was only up to 53. Two bags 65. He was on maintenance IV after that. 36 hours later the "diagnosis" was constipation. Glucose was normal as was his WBC.
Avatar f tn I'm doing the 3 hr glucose test! I already drank the glucose dronk, is it normal to get nauseated, sleepy PR is it a bad sign???
Avatar n tn The real health of the individual is whether the body produces enough insulin to lower a number that goes slightly above normal or whether the blood glucose stays high.
