Avatar m tn Hi. So, the exact number for everyone as to fasting glucose level and what they'd see after 3 hours after eating is unique. There is a 'range' of normal. Normal for fasting glucose level range is around 72 to 99 and up to 140 two hours after eating. https://www.medicinenet.com/normal_blood_sugar_levels_in_adults_with_diabetes/article.htm You sound within normal to me. Have you been concerned for any reason? Did you recently get this lab work done? Tell us more!
Avatar n tn For a diabetic, 145 would be OK after 1 1/2 hours. It would be interesting to know what yours was after 2 hours. it may just take your body a little longer to process the sugar. However, your fasting blood sugars look good to me. I understand that with your family history, you might naturally be a little anxious about getting diabetes. Testing your blood sugar occasionally is a good way to reassure yourself that your blood sugar is normal. However, testing won't prevent Diabetes.
Avatar m tn is it normal to have a blood sugar reading of 133 4 hours after eating.
Avatar f tn What you are experiencing is called reactive hypoglycemia [or alimentary hypoglycemia] which is low glucose that occurs after a meal — usually one to three hours after eating. What also can be happening is a carb crash caused by eating mashed potatoes and buger bun [white bread]. Eating a meal laden with high carbs can cause your pancreas to kick into overdrive to produce insulin to counteract the onset of sugar from the foods you just consumed. That rush of insulin now creates a yo-yo effect.
Avatar m tn Today I ate a breakfast burrito and had orange juice. My blood glucose was 92 thirty minutes after eating. Sometimes it will fall in the 60 range. My fasting blood glucose level was around 80. It seems like my body overcompensates when I consume sugar. Do you think I have reactive hypoglycemia?
Avatar f tn Your husband is fine and quite normal. After eating blood glucose [sugar] plateaus in the bloodstream at 2-3 hours. At 1 hour the body hasn't been given ample time to dispose of the excess glucose. The 2 hour level of 101 mg/dl says he's normal. His mom was incorrect to test at 1 hour.
Avatar m tn fasting, two hours after breakfast, 2 after lunch, 2 after dinner. That way you can get a sampling of where you're at different times of day. Also testing two hours after meals is a good way of seeing how different foods affect your blood glucose and knowing then what is good and not so good for you to eat. So bottom line is there is no absolute time you have to test but it does provide you with important information about managing your diabetes.
Avatar m tn why did my glucose level continue to rise over 3 hours instead of peak and drop down like most people do? And why would I get more sick after eating than I would having a 100 mg dose of glucose on an empty stomach? My doctor is out of town for another 2 1/2 weeks and the nurse had really no advice for me other than sometimes your body produces a large amount of insulin after you eat which can cause this feeling. So why didn't I get this feeling immediately from the test?
Avatar m tn Right after a brisk 1 hour walk they were 104. I ate a small sandwich and checked (2) hours after eating. My glucose wat 181. What's up with this. Right now my waking numbers average about 150. Do these seem right?
Avatar n tn First reading is usually lower than the second reading which is around 117. Second reading 2 hours after eating is usually around 130-132. This is after I eat carb laden foods i.e. bread, chips, peanut butter but doesn't include sweets i.e. ice cream or cake. Because those I just don't eat. So am I a diabetic or not?
Avatar m tn Please if your numbers after a full nights sleep are much over 120, and you are still thirsty, and still over 140 I believe after 2 hours( after eating)............get to a walkin in clinic today. You might want to call your insurance co. and get their guidance before you do that TODAY. Don't be scared. The dry mouth was one of the symptoms of possible diabetes. That number is another! My first symptoms when I asked to be tested started similarly.
Avatar n tn So it makes more sense to me to measure the blood glucose level two hours after the meal has finished, especially when some meals consist of multiple courses, and the entire meal can last up to an hour. Your thoughts on this? Also, I am interested in knowing what a "normal" blood glucose level is directly after a meal, if it is supposed to lower to under 180 (or 140 according to other sites) within two hours after the completion of a meal.
Avatar n tn ve been having troubles lately before I knew my blood sugar was high, after I would eat I would feel very bad, not knowing I had high blood sugar I was leading a normal diet, even some fast food here and there, I'm sure my blood sugar has been very very high until I started dieting now. Are those numbers normal or should I be worried?
Avatar n tn U may want to talk to doctor about this and waking up with low blood sugars is normal. Eating every 2 to 4 hours could be a case of you not eating enough at your meals.Orange juice is a good way to get your sugar up if your not hungry its going into your blood stream fast but watch how much you drink drink too much then you may have a high sugar for some time.Carbs do get your sugar up but they also make you gain wight. Try drinking powerade.
1154802 tn?1266485720 What is the normal range for blood glucose fasting, 1 hour after eating and 2 hours after eating? I think mine might be a bit high...
Avatar n tn I understand it can be scary to have a blood glucose reading that appears higher than normal. However a single plasma glucose reading is not enough to diagnose you with diabetes. Diabetes is usually diagnosed based on symptoms of hyperglycemia (blurred vision, frequent urination, headache, fatigue) and a random fasting plasma glucose reading > 200 mg/dL or ≥ 1 of the following: A1c reading ≥ 6.
Avatar m tn You need to check your blood sugar 2 hours after eating. If your numbers are higher than 140, you may be considered prediabetic. Diet (low carb), exercise, weight management will all help normalise / improve your sugars. Totally normal and non-diabetic blood sugars HBa1c should be < 5.0.
452066 tn?1400626877 Definitely sounds like it bears watching. To keep records for the doctors do the testing 2 hours after the eating instead of one. Don't go crazy and check each meal, but every day do a different meal so you have a good sample. Any number after 140 can cause complications down the road if it is occuring a lot, but it is good that it comes down by the second hour.
Avatar n tn (are there conditions that would cause my blood to be so high??) My blood did drop down under 100 after 2 hours... So i am confused on the whole issue... Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also, at what point do you recommend that I see a doctor? Basically I am worried because from what I understand a person living without diabetes should not have blood glucose levels so high at any time.
Avatar m tn 3 mmol/l , after 1 hour GTT 8.83 mmol/l ,after 2 hours it suddenly dropped to 3.9 mmol/l , after 3 hours it is 4.2 . Early morning after taking 75 mg of glucose i feel little difficult to breath and dizziness for a while.and today evening i tested with home kit .. it is showing 5.6 mmol/l My father and grand father are diabetic. Doctor said it may or may not be diabetice and there could be some other reasons. Could you please tell me whats going wrong with me.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 11 and sugar level of 150 2-3 hours after eating. She also complains of ocassional headaches and stomach pains. Could this all be diabetes?
Avatar f tn I think he mentions a post-prandial limit of 120, but that may be two or three hours after eating. Somewhere I recall hearing that blood sugar over 200 at any time is classified as diabetes and that at that level glucose is likely to spill into the urine. Hence my concern.
304573 tn?1345577338 i have maintained healthy levels until the last few weeks and find my testing is showing higher than normal levels 3 hours after eating...also waking up with elevated levels in the morning(fasting)...just curious if the tx is exaserbating this or if i am slowing sinking into the type 2 which almost makes no sense as I am now eating for once in my life healthy and appropriately....
