Avatar f tn They normally do them around 24 weeks. When I had mine done I was at 219, so automatically they sent me home with a glucose monitor to check my levels 4x a day. I don't necessarily agree with it, but anything for babies well being- I have a check up this week depending on how my levels have been he'll determine if I'll need insulin. However, referring to the guide I was given its been ok.
Avatar m tn What symptoms do you have? Looking at your labs, I'd say you need an increase in Synthroid. Do you have Hashimoto's? Type II diabetic on metformin. I don't understand the calculation for the blood sugar (?) i.e "5.5 means X 18 =95". Please explain that. I'm in the U.S and we might have different ways to calculate blood sugar levels.
Avatar f tn I failed my glucose screen too! I just got the results from my 3 hour test today. Whew....passed. My understanding is that quite a few people (up to 25%) fail the initial glucose tolerance screen but very few fail the 3 hour test. I'm sure you'll pass too! Sorry but btw the 3 hour test is horrible, just sitting and waiting and 4 blood collections. BOO!

Tbd Hi. So, a glucose meter using a finger tip prick or a continuous glucose monitor is best for checking blood sugar. Of course, that's after you are diagnosed with diabetes. Prior to that, blood work ordered by your doctor will reveal your sugar levels. https://diabetes.
728239 tn?1265137327 1. Buy a reputable one 2. Read and follow the instructions on use and care 3. If it requires calibration do so as recommended, especially with test strips. 4. Be certain you have the correct measurement scale set; mg/dl or mmol/l 5.

Avatar n tn When I wake up my blood sugars are in the mid 50s. After breakfast they hover around 76 or 82. They rarely ever go above 86 ever. Once a day they may hit 115 if I eat bread ..stay there briefly to go back down to the 70s. I am not on a specialty diet nor do I do keto. I usually eat a lot of fruit and seafood. Once average my glucose monitor tells me my daily averages are around 75. What do you think I have? Am I in a pre-diabetic state and my panaceas is just pumping out insulin?
Avatar f tn but same lab result also say 5.3 hba1c. it possible my glucose was up for some reason when i give blood and my monitor gives error on high side but what are chances of that?
Avatar m tn Around two years back, my friend/relative gave blood and Hepatitis C diagnosed in his blood. Then he gave his blood for Hepatitis C PCR Test and this was mentioned in the test. “Hepatitis C on the border line, check it after four months again” As per directions second report tested and came positive. During this two years period, he has tested LFT Six time. Out of six reports, three reports were not ok but last three reports found to be Ok.
Avatar f tn Is blood glucose reading of 139 ok two hours after eating? I've just begun self-testing and I've had three readings of 88 (afternoon, no food), 89 (morning before eating or drinking), and 139 (two hours after eating). My mother's family has Type I diabetes (8 out of 11 total) and my father developed Type II before he died. I'm concerned because I have very high "highs" and very low "lows" complete with blurred vision, shaking, anxiety, and constant urination.
Avatar m tn I am controlling my diabetes now for two months without medication. I set up an excel document and print it off , you can fit two months worth of info on one sheet, it's so easy to show the doctor trends, I include how many calories I've eaten per meal. It's really helped me. I've lost 30 llbs in two months and have stayed off of medication.
304573 tn?1345577338 Anyone start having problems with their blood glucose levels...seems I am becoming hyperglycemic.....
Avatar f tn I have it. You will have to monitor your carb intake. Odds are that you will meet with a nutritionist who will help with teaching you how to manage it. You will test your blood 4xs a day and go for non stress tests and more ultrasounds then normal. You will only have to deliver early if your blood sugars are out of control. I'm 38 weeks and well managed. Try NOT to Google much. Let your doctor guide you. Google will just scare the crap out of you.
Tbd This means that it is rapidly metabolized resulting in a rapid increase in blood glucose. This in turn leads to the rapid release of insulin which performs the role of "escorting" the glucose into your cells in order to produce ATP. Simply stated, ATP is what fuels our bodies. However, an individual with type 2 diabetes mellitus does not produce sufficient insulin or is not capable of utilizing endogenous insulin in order to facilitate the transport of glucose into the cells.
Avatar m tn The lancet holder and blood glucose monitor were being used on many patients. Neither device was disinfected before or after being used on me. What is the risk of Hep-B in this situation? The CDC says that holders/monitors should be disinfected between uses because blood can transfer from the holder/monitor during the test.
Avatar m tn I was wondering should I take magnesium cit-rate to help with keeping blood glucose in balance. I took it yesterday 1 pill 200mg and did not notice any difference. I want to is magnesium sterate in many pharmacy pills and supplements safe. From what I read many say its safe.
Avatar f tn They will give u diet restrictions & have u monitor and chart ur blood sugar levels every day.
Avatar m tn Do not be too alarmed about the different sugar level readings that you have had done by using a glucose monitor. This only measures the glucose that is in your blood stream at the time the test is being taken. Even in people who are not diabetics, the glucose levels will fluctuate (go up and down) depending on the time of day the test was done and if they had eaten and how long afterwards the test was done.
