5536886 tn?1455827346 How did you choose which blood glucose monitor to use? Are there certain features that make one better then the other?
Tbd Hi. So, a glucose meter using a finger tip prick or a continuous glucose monitor is best for checking blood sugar. Of course, that's after you are diagnosed with diabetes. Prior to that, blood work ordered by your doctor will reveal your sugar levels. https://diabetes.
Avatar n tn I was put on a beta blocker, which helped a lot, and posed a very low risk to the baby (low birth weight, and low blood glucose levels are a possibility, but my daughter was fine). If your EKG and your heart structure and function are normal then you don't need to worry! No need to think of terminating the pregnancy. The worst part of it all is the anxiety it can cause you when you have symptoms, or even just worrying about it.
Avatar f tn my husband was 2yrs post liver transplant, that is the one reason why he is also now suffering from monitor blood sugar problem. my question now is about fluctition of his blood glucose, we have a kit monitoring it before and after meal, but there was time when we check it is high then after just a minute it drop down, we are really worried why is this happening? hoping that anyone could help!
490398 tn?1319940717 This is NOT a fasting glucose. My dad is diabetic and he has all of the tools to test blood. He has regular diabetes not Type 2 but it usually skips a generation. I had blood taken at the doctor last week, again, not fasting, for other health problems and it came back at 169. My doc obviously wants to retest me when I've been fasting and get an A1c.
Avatar f tn half year post liver transplant, my question now is about his bood sugar, we are trying to monitor it , we have the kit and test sugar before and after meal, but there was time that in just a minute sugar rises and and sometimes went very low. is this normal for or the kit have a problem?
Avatar n tn Lab ranges may vary by each lab. Therefore, its always best to review your lab results and look at the ranges provided to see where you're at. The Ac1 test is the best at determining how well a patient is managing their glucose. Best that you Google it and read about the test firsthand.
Avatar n tn When I wake up my blood sugars are in the mid 50s. After breakfast they hover around 76 or 82. They rarely ever go above 86 ever. Once a day they may hit 115 if I eat bread ..stay there briefly to go back down to the 70s. I am not on a specialty diet nor do I do keto. I usually eat a lot of fruit and seafood. Once average my glucose monitor tells me my daily averages are around 75. What do you think I have? Am I in a pre-diabetic state and my panaceas is just pumping out insulin?
10374491 tn?1441916101 A blood sugar monitor only gives the blood sugar that is present in the blood at the time it is done. An HbA1C blood test gives the average blood glucose that is present in the blood over a period of 9-12 weeks. The glucose sticks to the red corpuscles and these are renewed every 9-12 weeks. The doctor is the best person to give advice whether to use a home blood glucose monitor. My doctor will not prescribe a home monitor for me because my HbA1C levels are well managed.
Avatar n tn Is this safe to take with the medications I am currently taking? Also, when is the best time to take it. I test my blood sugar every morning (fasting) and before bed.
Avatar f tn Is blood glucose reading of 139 ok two hours after eating? I've just begun self-testing and I've had three readings of 88 (afternoon, no food), 89 (morning before eating or drinking), and 139 (two hours after eating). My mother's family has Type I diabetes (8 out of 11 total) and my father developed Type II before he died. I'm concerned because I have very high "highs" and very low "lows" complete with blurred vision, shaking, anxiety, and constant urination.
Avatar n tn Hi Superman22x! I am the mom of an 18 year old girl who was diagnosed at the age of 21 months. I am not a medical professional, so please review any info received here with your healthcare team first. Good for you for wanting to check out the insulin pump - it is a great alternative to shots and I am sure that once you're on it, the discomfort you experienced will not seem as bad and when you compare it to doing multiple injections a day, you'll be grateful that you made the change.
Avatar m tn I am controlling my diabetes now for two months without medication. I set up an excel document and print it off , you can fit two months worth of info on one sheet, it's so easy to show the doctor trends, I include how many calories I've eaten per meal. It's really helped me. I've lost 30 llbs in two months and have stayed off of medication.
304573 tn?1345577338 Anyone start having problems with their blood glucose levels...seems I am becoming hyperglycemic.....
Avatar m tn If you have co-morbid conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or both, it is important that blood glucose and blood pressure are controlled. It is best that you discuss the results with your attending physician for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I failed my glucose screen too! I just got the results from my 3 hour test today. Whew....passed. My understanding is that quite a few people (up to 25%) fail the initial glucose tolerance screen but very few fail the 3 hour test. I'm sure you'll pass too! Sorry but btw the 3 hour test is horrible, just sitting and waiting and 4 blood collections. BOO!
Avatar m tn A related discussion, <a href='/posts/show/774602'>diabetes help</a> was started.
Avatar m tn The lancet holder and blood glucose monitor were being used on many patients. Neither device was disinfected before or after being used on me. What is the risk of Hep-B in this situation? The CDC says that holders/monitors should be disinfected between uses because blood can transfer from the holder/monitor during the test.
Avatar n tn But I am aware and I am taking measures to maintain a good HDL level as it might help with the blood glucose as well. I will keep you posted when anything new comes up with my BG.
Avatar f tn I am with a practice now that will not substitute the glucola. They act like it is unheard of and are pretty snooty about it. I monitor my blood sugar levels at home with a glucose monitor and know they are fine. I have refused their glucola testing and signed a statement saying I understand I am putting myself and my baby at risk..and added to their form that I monitor my own at home and will provide those results to the office.
6627313 tn?1383131322 When done the monitor is returned as required and you doctor will review the results and let you know if he/she sees anything that needs attention, better to tell you nothing is wrong - hope the latter for you.
Avatar n tn Hi, the Hba1c is an average blood glucose reading for the past 3 months. So, the reading of 6.3 does coincide with an average blood sugar of 134. The Glucose level is a spot reading, at the time that the blood test was done. I presume it was a fasting level. Your blood sugar will vary during the day. Now, getting back to your hba1c. This is still too high. Consider a non-diabetic Hba1c will be < 5.0 and their average blood sugar will be < 100 (probably in the high 80s to low 90s.
