I suggest talking with your doctor, getting an accurate diagnosis and then going from there.

Normal blood sugar targets are 100 to 200mg/dl.
Age 5 to 11:
Normal blood sugar targets are 70 to 150mg/dl. Fasting blood sugars should be nearer to 70mg/dL.
Blood sugar after meals and before bedtime should be near 150mg/dL.
Age 12 and older
A healthy glucose level of age 12 and elder should be near 70mg/dl when fasting and 150mg/dl after meals.
have you tested your glucose levels when these symptoms hit you? You may find that your glucose levels have dropped too low, for these are some of the symptoms of low blood sugar. Many people do mention tingling in hands when glucose levels drop too low. I would heartily recommend that the next time this happens, you do an immediate glucose test, and then perhaps test again about 45 minutes later.
There are several ways you can diagnose diabetes. Your level last night after one cup of soda is more representative of a random blood glucose. A random glucose of >200mg/dL with symptoms of diabetes is diagnostic of Type 2 Diabetes. Therefore, from that one measure, you do not have Type 2 Diabetes.
However, your fasting sugar is within the pre-diabetic range.

He requested blood work prior to her followup appointment. Her glucose levels were at 480. He thought it was strange that her primary care physician wasn't doing anything to control her glucose levels. He told her to contact her doctor immediately in regards to high blood glucose. I'm really confused because I did both the one and three hour test they said I have gestational diabetes but ever since I've gotten my glucometer my blood sugar have been like 55, 64 two hours after I eat is that bad or normal I'm very confused? Please help!!
First thing you need have on hand is a home glucose test meter. The only way you're going to know how the foods you consumed affected your glucose [blood sugar] levels is by testing, testing, and more testing. Times to test are;
fasting - first thing in morning b4 having any food or colored liquids [plain water is OK]. This will tell you how much stored sugar your liver is dumping during sleep hours. Normal levels are 60/70 - 99 mg/dl or 3.33/3.88 - 5.
My question is i have type 2 diabetes, and in the morings before i eat my blood sugar reading is 140 to 162
my meds are metformin 1ooo mg in the morning, and 1ooo in the eaving with meals. i allso take

Hi all, I'm a 25 year old male who just had some blood work done for some chest, arm/leg pains I've been having. Xray and all blood work came back fine except for the glucose levels which I was told were "a bit high." Probably 45 minutes before the blood tests, I had a bowl of frosted mini wheats and a glass of juice. I am going back to get a fasting test, but wanted to know if eating the food/drink right before could have caused glucose reading to be a bit high?
