Avatar m tn Definitely do not give her insulin if she is not eating. The worry is that if her blood glucose levels are not as high as usual and you give her insulin without her having food in her to counter the insulins effect, she could succumb to hypoglycemia (low blood glucose level). forcing a little bit of canned food can help with her blood sugar levels (smearing a little on her paws where she will lick it off or onto the roof of her mouth) as can giving a little corn syrup orally.
Avatar n tn Hello! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. The normal blood glucose ranges for anyone, child or not are between 80 and 120. Some doctors will say 70-110, but it's all in the same range. Now, that's the target, but depending on what is eaten for example, a healthy person's blood glucose can rise temporarily up close to 200. As long as the values return to normal after a couple hours, all is well.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.

Avatar n tn As other causes such as stress ,exercises and a recent meal intake may cause increase levels of glucose in the urine. This may be true in isolated cases. An initial work up may be necessary just to check blood glucose levels. Your BUN and Creatinine levels may also be checked to get a baseline evaluation of renal function.

Avatar m tn Two hours after eating breakfast my glucose levels were 161. Right after a brisk 1 hour walk they were 104. I ate a small sandwich and checked (2) hours after eating. My glucose wat 181. What's up with this. Right now my waking numbers average about 150. Do these seem right?
Avatar n tn In my 36 years with diabetes, I have noticed that sometimes I can FEEL the drop in glucose before my glucose levels get below normal. The symptoms that you describe can happen even when the actual number is normal at the time. In my case, when this happens it ALWAYS means that my glucose is on the way down towards hypoglycemia even if when i test it, my glucose is normal. If I test again in a half hour (and do not eat or drink any carbohydrates), the glucose will be low.
Avatar n tn Pet Diet plays a major role in influencing the effectiveness, pet response and ultimate outcome of chemotherapy in dogs and cats diagnosed with cancer. Cancer cells alter your pets body’s ability to metabolize dietary nutrients, including carbohydrates, fats and proteins. The effect of cancer on dog and cat glucose or "blood" sugar metabolism is most dramatic in pets.

Avatar n tn My sister in law takes her blood sugar reading with a One Touch Ultra Smart tester. She gets a reading of 440. Sometimes the numbers are even higher. How can this be so high without major problems? My husband took his reading and got 86. She is a believer of herbals and supplements. Could one of these make a false reading? We have tried to get her to go to a Doctor, but she won't.
