Tbd How often do you check your blood sugar when you have a history on both sides of the family but are not currently diabetic
Avatar m tn 55 yo male with low back pain history of kidney stones hypertension and transient ischemic attack.... elevated ESR (29). Glucose 130.
Avatar n tn All of my number are ok EXCEPt my fasting blood sugar. I'm not in any medication.
576054 tn?1217783138 My doctor will be doing tests in a few weeks, but I have had some fairly high glucose levels lately. I also have a history of high blood pressure although that has been better most of the time lately. Tonight all of a sudden I started having a terrible headache and nausea. My glucose level was somewhat high. So either this was due to the glucose levels or due to high blood pressure. Whatever it is, I am so tired of being sick and tired all of the time.
1813627 tn?1337722375 Had about 10 viles of blood taken which I gather is normal the first time. They also had be do an hour blood glucose test done which I thought was done later in pregnancy. So today I had to go for a 3 hr test sinces yesterday my number was 141 and they wanted me to be under 135. Anyone that can shed some light on this would be wonderful.
Avatar n tn org/forums/Diabetes---Adult-Type-II/show/46 While there is some degree of variability among people, most will usually develop symptoms suggestive of hypoglycemia when blood glucose levels are lowered to the mid 60's. The first set of symptoms are called adrenergic (or sympathetic) because they relate to the nervous system's response to hypoglycemia.
Avatar m tn I started measuring my blood glucose levels because i have family history of type 2 diabetes. So when i get the chance (and i get a lot) i test my blood glucose levels. I do a lot of tests and the blood glucose levels were never >140 mg /ml (134 was the highest one, so i got concerned). While fasting usually the blood glucose is arround 90. 1 day happened to be 108 (i ate a lot the night before).
180395 tn?1287493997 " Are these levels normal?" First, I'm glad you posted for the chance of diabetes are greater when the parents have it. What you need to do today is change doctors and find one that will listen to you, offer advice, and not ignore your health. Unfortunately not all doctors follow their "hippocrates oath" and it appears yours is in this category. Ask your doctor to test your glucose (blood sugar) with an OGTT (oral fasting glucose and an A1c test.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have diabetes without having high blood sugar? I've never had a glucose level over 90 on any blood test. I've had to have labs done several times throughout the last couple of years. It's usually 70-80. Once 90. Never anything else. I have to go in tomorrow for testing because my urine has had a strange odor. I don't want to say it's sweet but it's kinda similar. I've never been overweight and have never had a recorded high glucose level.
Avatar m tn 0, specific gravity 1.025,250 of glucose, which makes no sense with normal serum glucose and negative for ketones, blood, nitrite and leukocyte esterase. Urine hCG was negative as well" I just dont understand. Its looking like i have more than one thing working against me.
Avatar m tn One of the tests I would recommend is a Hemoglobin A1c which can reveal a history of elevated blood sugar. The difference between type 1 and type 2 essentially is in management. Typically type 2 diabetes has adult onset. It can often be managed through diet and lifestyle modification, with/or without the use of oral diabetes medication. Type 1 used to be called Juvenile Diabetes. This was the diabetes most frequently noted in children.
863754 tn?1239144755 My aunt is in the hospital, as I type this, fighting to stay alive. After speaking with the doctors about her condition, I've discovered that they have absolutely no idea why she's dying. I'm posting here in the hopes of saving her life. For some reason, her blood glucose levels won't stabilize. They'll give her a shot of glucose to get her levels up, but in the matter of a few hours, it's back down to around 50 or 60 and they have to give her another shot.
Tbd I just recently had a health screening and after fasting 12 hours my blood glucose was 111. Should i be overly concerned with that? Will they put me on meds or just monitor it. My history of blood glucose levels range over the last 4 years from 94 to the current 111.
Avatar n tn Hi everyone, I am a dietetic student who just finished working at a camp for children with type 1 diabetes. As part of the staff we were all given blood glucose monitors to help check the kids (even though I don't have diabetes). We were allowed to keep the monitors and I have been doing some random blood glucose checks on myself when I am not feeling well to help myself better understand lows.
231441 tn?1333892766 Regardless of the results of your glucose test, you should continue to keep an eye on your blood sugars during your pregnancy because you are at higher risk of developing gestational diabetes given your history. You will stil need to gain adequate weight to nourish your baby, but you should aim for about 25-30 pounds during the pregnancy and not too much over that, so that you can limit your chances of having abnormal glucoses during the pregnancy. Hope this helps. Good luck and take care!
Avatar f tn If your fasting glucose is higher than 125 you are actually diabetic. If you get a blood glucose tolerance test your glucose level should be below 200 one - two hours after the test...
Avatar m tn The blood glucose test is ordered to measure the amount of glucose in the blood right at the time of sample collection. It is used to detect both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, to help diagnose diabetes, and to monitor glucose levels in persons with diabetes. The urine glucose is seldom ordered by itself. At one time, it was used to monitor diabetics, but it has been largely replaced by the more sensitive and “real time” blood glucose.
Avatar n tn ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?
Avatar n tn Definite diagnosis of diabetes is usually with blood testing your glucose levels as mentioned above. A fasting plasma glucose (FPG) test , an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) or a random plasma glucose test, along with an assessment of symptoms, is used to diagnose diabetes. Risk factors for diabetes include age, excess body weight , family history of diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipedemia increases the chance of being a diabetic. Hope this helps. Take care and do keep us posted.
2109562 tn?1347253848 I'll be 13w tomorrow. No I haven't only had 2 appts the first was just talking/questions then the one after was just an ultrasound at 10w. It was really scary. Lord I couldnt imagine it happening at Walmart. I was freaking out. Its never been that bad.
748618 tn?1233130901 This week after getting a EKG done and awaiting a EEG, so far have found nothing wrong in that department. Yet my blood work came back and was told over the phone that my glucose level was very low. I also have high cholesterol. Now what worries me is that my family has a history of diabetes. I just want to know how serious this could be and in what direction to go in if any to make myself healthy.
Avatar n tn I have been monitoring my glucose levels for a few days now and was wondering when to go to my doctor. A little history. I am high risk for type II based on family history, two pregnancies with gestational diabetes and I am about 50 lbs overweight. I was also diagnosed with hypoglycemia at 16 (I'm now 32) On Monday I was feeling foggy, trembly and weak so I decided to check my glucose to see how low I was. I was actually at 187.
Avatar m tn but not high enough to make the diagnosis of diabetes. The tests used to make this diagnosis are blood glucose test and a glucose tolerance test. Has your doctor done either of these? There are no real symptoms of pre diabetes. The symptoms of diabetes include frequent urination, thirst, blurred vision, numbness/tingling in the distal extremities, fatigue, slowed healing of cuts, and frequent infections. Peripheral neuropathy is a condition frequently found with diabetes.
Avatar f tn well i guess he meant a thorough test but that will take a few days so i bought the strips from the pharmacy myself and took the test today and it was negative. but for my self satisfaction i took the blood test not a thorough one just the one where you put a bit of blood on a strip and use some small electronic gadget and in that also my sugar level was normal. i am still slightly paranoid, so i was wondering if i take a thorough test, will there be a chance that i have diabetes?
Avatar f tn Chronic hyperyension prior to pregnancy (high blood pressure), family history of diabetes (both parents have it), and I was overweight before I got pregnant (not horribly) another risk is if you had gestational diabetes in a past pregnancy- which I didn't in my last one
