Avatar f tn I am 29 weeks today. I had to have a glucose test done early since im a bit overweight.(a little over a month ago) Now they want another one because of my BP. If my BP is perfect with meds, why do I have to do another glucose?
8485484 tn?1408936473 Lightheadedness It often happens that lack of blood supply to the brain and heart during pregnancy leads to weakness, dizziness, confusion, and thus lightheadedness. Anxiety Anxiety is a common major symptom observed during pregnancy. It is caused mainly due to irritation, hormonal changes, nervousness, and possibly due to low blood sugar levels. Fatigue Excessive exertion makes a pregnant female feel very weak and tired, since the energy requirements of the body are not fulfilled.
194838 tn?1303428544 I do not test my own blood but am sent to the hospital for fairly regular tests but notice that when people post with their blood glucose levels they are in the 100s. I am from the UK and wonder if there is a conversion chart because I think it would be more beneficial if I could compare with others on the forum to get a sense of how im doing for comparison, Any advise would be greatly appreciated .
1372516 tn?1297265962 Jennifer, I am not sure why you think it's nothing to do with glucose.........but if you google it you will see you are wrong. What is the hemoglobin A1c test? The hemoglobin A1c test (also called H-b-A-one-c) is a simple lab test that shows the average amount of sugar (also called glucose) that has been in a person's blood over the last 3 months. The hemoglobin A1c test shows if a person's blood sugar is close to normal or too high.
Avatar f tn So I had my initial appointment today, got a bunch of information, got my blood work ordered & because of the stupid backwards bmi chart, I had to get a glucose challenge. I waited 8 hrs to take it so that I could fast, but I'm afraid that wasn't enough. Did any of you mommies have to get an early challenge? When you did do the glucose, did you fast or did you eat?
Avatar f tn They will give u diet restrictions & have u monitor and chart ur blood sugar levels every day.
Avatar f tn Im currently 26wks, i went to thw dr today and did the 1hr glucose test, they just called and the results were slightly high,I'm.scheduled for another test on Friday anyone ever had gestational diabetes?? I'm scared.
Avatar n tn Weird I didn't get my glucose test till like 27 weeks or something like that with either pregnancy... but my first I had high levels so I had to go back for the long test. Turns out I was fine no gestational diabetes for me. It was just what I ate the day of the first test that made them high.
Avatar f tn Can someone give me the most accurate pregnancy chart? I usually do my own research but I'm not sure if Google have the right chart. If I'm 13 weeks and 1 day how many months am I?
7552771 tn?1469929649 The most common pregnancy chart does not go by every 4 weeks other wise every 28 days would be a month and that's not true. If you're comfortable counting by every 4 weeks go for it. Its easier and either way at 40 weeks your due. What I did to keep track is Google imaged pregnancy weeks to months and saved a cute little chart to my phone. It looks like this 1-4=1m 5-8=2m 9-13=3m 14-17=4m 18-21=5m 22-26=6m 27-30=7m 31-35=8m 36-40=9m You can count it any way you want.
Avatar m tn com/diabetes/guide/normal-blood-sugar-levels-chart-adults This article has information related to charting of glucose numbers. If you were fasting, I think it's time to have an evaluation by your physician to look into your glucose numbers. If you were not and it was before a meal, then they would be close to normal. so, that info would be helpful for further discussion.
1813627 tn?1337722375 Had about 10 viles of blood taken which I gather is normal the first time. They also had be do an hour blood glucose test done which I thought was done later in pregnancy. So today I had to go for a 3 hr test sinces yesterday my number was 141 and they wanted me to be under 135. Anyone that can shed some light on this would be wonderful.
Avatar f tn Has anyone dealt with low blood sugar during pregnancy? I took my 1 hr glucose test- I had black coffee prior to the drinking the glucose drink, then 1 hr of nothing and my blood draw. My level came back at 65. My midwiNenmade a passing comment about it bein low and watching for symptoms of lightheadedness but wasn't concerned. What were your numbers if you were deemed low blood sugar? Any other symptoms? Thanks!
Avatar m tn diets with two ounces of mixed nuts daily allowed them to have significantly better control over their blood-glucose levels. Not only that, but the study volunteers also saw a welcome drop in their LDL-cholesterol numbers.
Avatar f tn They sent me home with a book of meal plans (great selections) a meter and strips and a log chart. I had to check my blood before eating in the morning, and then every 4 hours after that. I had to record all of my logs down. Hope things get better! Good luck hun!
Avatar f tn Just going by my numbers I was 5w5d and was at 900. But in saying that everyone is different and every pregnancy is different. There is a website called beta chart. It should give u lowest highest and average. As for the ultrasound 12 weeks is normal for an ultrasound unless there is complications, eg bleeding cramping or possible etopic..
Avatar f tn This is my third pregnancy and I have never had a problem with sugar til now. Concerned about even doing my glucose test because of how sick and shakey I get from even the slightest bit of sugar. My husband is scared and so am I that something could go wrong. Has anyone had anybad reactions to the test? I was fine the fist two times just never reacted like this to any form of sugar, I was always fine just a little nauseated from it.
231441 tn?1333892766 Regardless of the results of your glucose test, you should continue to keep an eye on your blood sugars during your pregnancy because you are at higher risk of developing gestational diabetes given your history. You will stil need to gain adequate weight to nourish your baby, but you should aim for about 25-30 pounds during the pregnancy and not too much over that, so that you can limit your chances of having abnormal glucoses during the pregnancy. Hope this helps. Good luck and take care!
Avatar n tn By eating at night you may be able to help your morning blood sugar be a bit lower. When you have extended fasting your liver can put out glucose. By eating a small snack you may be able to prevent your liver doing this. hope this helps. Please come back and let us know how you're going. Often diabetes in preganncy will get worse as the pregnancy progresses (insulin resistance increases as the pregnancy progresses and the placenta grows).
Avatar f tn s interesting that you question the accuracy of your glucose meter for I was reading the September 2008 issues of Consumer Reports that rated both blood-pressure monitors and blood-glucose meters. Only one blood-glucose meter scored excellent overall and also scored the highest for consistency- the Johnson & Johnson Lifescan OneTouch Ultra Mini. The Ultra Mini was followed by Ascensia Contour, ReliOn Ultima (WalMart), and Accu-check Compact Plus.
Avatar f tn No.. I think once with with me im 23 weeks and I have 3 kids they checking something..
1276121 tn?1420860600 I hated the glucose test. I couldnt ever quite stomach the taste of the drink they give you. It is not bad execpt you have to stay at the doc office the whole time (at least I did mine). I found out I was an actual diabetic with my first son at 6wks. The glucose test showed me as gestational but doc warned with it showing like that in such an early phase in pregnancy that I was more likely to be a regular diabetic and he was right..it stuck with me even after I gave birth to my first son.
