Avatar m tn Two hours after eating breakfast my glucose levels were 161. Right after a brisk 1 hour walk they were 104. I ate a small sandwich and checked (2) hours after eating. My glucose wat 181. What's up with this. Right now my waking numbers average about 150. Do these seem right?
Avatar n tn I know it varies from person to person depending on actual diet and other factors, but just a general range to indicate how many blood glucose points a doctor expects to be reduced every hour after a meal. This is what I simply can't find anywhere.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed this January and have been on metformin 500 mg/dL since then. My doctor said that I should test my blood glucose 2 hours after meal, but last night I was curious and tested immediately after meal to see what the number would be. I exercise 1 to 2 hours everyday as well watch my diet carefully. Would you tell me if BG of 196 (right after meal) is acceptable for a diabetic?
Avatar f tn Thanks for your response! I fasted for 11 hours because my eyes refused to stay open past 9:30 pm. I'm here at the lab and just finished my 3rd blood draw. The first hour after the first blood draw and glucose drink was the WORST! Thankfully I didn't throw up but I almost did. They let me drink some water which helped. I'm praying that my tests come back ok and I don't have gestational diabetes. Good luck to you!
194838 tn?1303428544 Take your blood sugar and eat a single apple or 190 calories of yogurt. Take your blood sugar an hour after and an hour after that. Make note of the drop. Do the same and exercise for a half hour. Then check your sugar. Perform these tests without medication for a day and then with medication. "Random" tests are pretty pointless. You can plan your own testing program, but you should know how much 500 mg of Metformin, for example, will drop your blood sugar after an 800 calorie meal.
Avatar f tn If this is 2-3 hours after a meal, this is normal blood glucose ranges for a diabetic. It is hard to say one way or the other until we hear back from you.
Avatar m tn re getting hung up on the fact that 2-3 hours AFTER one meal may be BEFORE the next meal. Only concentrate on one meal at a time. How often are you checking your blood sugar at home? Be sure to closely follow the instructions of your doc, don't just choose your own times. Also, be sure to keep a journal of your results. Most glucose meters come with a log book. If you don't have one, ask your doc, or, you can print one from the internet.
Avatar n tn dont do the 3 hour GTT for diabetics but the 4-hour GTT for reactive hypoglycemia. Your blood is taken after a 12-hour fast. Then you are given a glucose challenge (a sugary drink), and your blood is taken at one hours intervals for for 4 hours. The test itself is really a pain but I am happy I did it. It turns out my blood sugar drops extremely low after meals and this is accompanied by heart palpitations.
Avatar f tn I started checking it at one hour after eating and one time it was 139 then at the two hour mark it was 71. That was after having a grilled hamburger and 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes for dinner. I thought my blood sugar was getting under control and now it's running low. Can anyone tell me why this might be happening?
Avatar n tn Now my baby is one year old. Today I ate about 50 grams of carbs (white flour) and I tested one hour after meal, it was 139, however, two hours it went up to 149. I am just stunned. Why my two hour number is higher one hour number? Thanks very much.
Avatar n tn Actually, articles I have read listing so-called "normal" ranges of glucose values after a meal tend to say that a reading above the mid 140's is considered possibly diabetic. However, the ranges do differ from person to person. Most people's glucose can go as high as in the mid 140's after a meal before their own bodies start producing extra insulin to bring those levels down. The range of 70-126 is considered normal before eating a meal, or as a fasting glucose level.
Avatar f tn I quickly gained about 30 pounds and the episodes continued. One evening, after a particularly carb heavy meal, I felt the same symptoms and checked my blood sugar on a home meter. It was 72. Juice brought it up and I felt better. I continued to experience this and my blood sugar was always in the 70's when I felt this way. Food/juice corrected the feelings. I saw an endocrinologist who ran every test known to man.
Avatar f tn I tested my blood glucose today after a 7 hour fast and my reading was 155, then not a minute later it was 161, about 3-4 minutes later i was curious and tested it again, it was 168. Could stress have made it go up that many points within five minutes? Also am I prediabetic and what do i do to bring my numbers back down to normal?
Avatar f tn I did my yesterday ..
Avatar f tn Why my pp sugar is less than fasting. I experience weakness and feel hungry just after an hour after having meal. I also tested my son for the same n results are glucose fasting:90 glucose pp:85..why is my son sugar pp levels r also less just like me though is not genetically my son. I again tested my son insulin fasting which is 12 and insulin pp which is 18 . This result is more than the range. What does it signify. We both hv stopped hving sugar n are on low carb diet and low fat diet.
Avatar m tn Similar to what you mentioned in your post, folks in this arena experience normal or slightly higher than normal blood glucose readings upon awakening, or before a meal, then lower blood glucose AFTER a meal [postprandial]. Educate yourself on LADA then discuss treatment methods with an Endocrinologist. Keep in mind not all doctors are educated on LADA. You may have to see several until you find one that is. Oral medication and basal injections may be prescribed.
1240706 tn?1331602111 Yeah, I am pretty sure they did mention I will be drinking the solution. And the instructions are that the blood draw is an hour after I get there so to make plans to be there that long. So, I am not sure why it is ok to eat, but if that is what they want then I will do what Ecologic said and just eat a small breakfast. If anything seems off I will aske them why they do it this way and not the way I am used to. My last two pgs I did not have issues with GD, but I know each pg is different.
Avatar f tn I have GD...my numbers were so high after taking the 1 hour test that they didn't even bother giving me another one..if you have it they put you on a strict diet, I check my blood sugar 4 times a day, and I'm on meds.
Avatar f tn Yesterday before snack my bs was 79. I had one of those packs that has the 4 crackers and spread cheese. !/2 hour later my bs was 72. I ate another one and 1 hour later my bs was 82. That was a total of 30g. I know my sugar wasn't to low, but when it gets in this range I get terrible headaches. Usually this happens anytime under 90. Looking for better snack choices.
Avatar f tn I failed the 1h glucose test and told dr I wasn't going to do the 3h one. After much debating and searching for alternatives, I decided to have the 2h one, which is just one blood draw. You have to take 75grams of glucose and then get blood drawn and that's it.
