Your blood sugar levels will be monitored at each appointment and after delivery. Everything is supposed to go back to normal after delivery. They considered me high risk pregnancy because of that. I could pick my delivery date and get induced prior to my due date. They might put you on a diet you are supposed to monitor your carbs. Hope that helps.

Also testing two hours after meals is a good way of seeing how different foods affect your blood glucose and knowing then what is good and not so good for you to eat. So bottom line is there is no absolute time you have to test but it does provide you with important information about managing your diabetes.

Normal level (without diabetes) is below 7%. A1c is now being recommended to diagnose Type II diabetes, instead of doing 2 FPGs. It's a very accurate test. Most of the time gestational diabetes goes away with delivery but your risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life is a lot higher. I have never heard of a baby developing it however after birth if its not controlled baby will have trouble keeping his or her blood sugar under control and may need help. Just because u fail the 1 hr doesnt mean u will fail the 3. Think positive!
I am due Feb 24 and have been avoiding the glucose test because of personal reasons. My doctor finall have me an ultimatum last week that if I wanted to do VBAC, I had to do the gestational diabetes screening. My one-hour level came back at 135 and now they want me to do the 3-hour test. I CANT!!! I was so sick, dizzy and weak from the 1-hour screening that I know I won't be able to do the 3-hour test.
ve been having troubles lately before I knew my blood sugar was high, after I would eat I would feel very bad, not knowing I had high blood sugar I was leading a normal diet, even some fast food here and there, I'm sure my blood sugar has been very very high until I started dieting now. Are those numbers normal or should I be worried?
I have been monitoring my blood sugars at home since at a doctor visit my fasting glucose was 135. Every morning in the past week I have taken it (on empty stomach) it has been in the 130's, only one time it was 114. All throughout the day it is between 129 and 158, sometimes it is 192, 263. I had blood drawn today for A1c, should get the results in a couple of days. I am wondering if these numbers are normal, or do I have a problem?
