Common Questions and Answers about Blood clots during period on the pill

Avatar f tn There are still occasionally blood clots, but nothing compared to before. I would highly suggest putting her on the pill, although, of course this is hers and your choice, and I think its fantastic that you have such a good relationship with her. I have a question though, what do you mean by "she is afraid of what she has to go through to be put on the pill"? Maybe it is different over there, but here, all I had to do was ask.
Avatar n tn But the big scare I have is when I take out my tampon, which I change about every hour to 2 hours, there are blood clots on it. Then when I am sitting on the toilet, more blood clots come out, and also when I wipe with toilet paper. They aren't HUGE like everyone else is saying, but they are bigger than a quarter, and it's never happened before & I started my period for the first time when I was 14. What should I do? Or is this all normal?
Avatar n tn My periods last 1 day with bleeding and then spotting for about 2 days. During the first day I pass blood clots about the quarter to a fifty cent piece. I have never had sex so I know it is nothing from that. I am 27 yrs old and that has been going on as long as I can remember. But am starting to have health problems. Everyone thinks I am stupid and the doctors look at me like I am crazy. I want to know is this something normal and could this effect my chances of having kids.
384549 tn?1206412920 I am 6 weeks pregnant and am experiences some light to moderate bleeding with the passage of one blood clot about the size of a quarter. I started spotting brown on wednesday, and started bleeding red blood on thursday and tomorrow will be the third day. This is my first pregnancy and i am afriad that i might be having a miscarriage. Avatar f tn So im 16 and i am sexually active. I was on the pill for 3 years then stopped taking it for a month, then went back on it. After going back on it i was expecting my period but it came two weeks late and i have really bad cramps and had a bad stomach ache for the two days before i got it. Also large blood clots are coming out. Could i have been pregnant and now i had a miscarriage? Or could it be from me stopping the pill for month that screwed everything up? please help!
Avatar n tn I had them every month from when I started my period until I got on the pill. I don't have clots since being on the pill. They must be normal though 'cause I had them for about 8 years and everything is fine.
Avatar f tn Later that night, before bed, I went to the bathroom again and there was another clot, and there was hardly any fresh blood on my pad. The clots are not very big, maybe about dime size or a bit smaller. I've had a clot or two with periods before, but usually when the flow is heavy. Also, my period doesn't usually slow down and get lighter until the end of the third or the fourth day. I feel fine otherwise, and I have not been sexually active.
Avatar n tn My doctor put me on tablets but they where no use. So when i was 14 the doctor put me on the pill and it helped with the pain. Im nearly 23 now and in the past year iv been getting really large blood clots and they last for the first 2 days of my period. Is this normal or do i need to go to the doctor???
Avatar f tn She also suspected that the BC dosage was too low and instructed me to double the frequency of my pill (to every 12 hours) until the bleeding stops. That was three days ago.
Avatar f tn Am I going to get period on the date that I normally would or will the taking the BC pill before my period slow it down? I don't have 21 day pills but 28, no placebo. Will I still get my period ?
Avatar f tn (size of a quarter) and this month i've been on my period for about 2 weeks. Now my blood clots are about the size of my palm. they are dark dark red and they come about every 2-3 hours.
Avatar n tn Recently I've noticed when I'm on my period whether i change my pad every hour (which I've resorted to) the blood in the pad burns my genitals. Is it possible I'm allergic to my period?
Avatar n tn for the last 1 and a half years I took my pill (Yasmin) regularly), and always had a steady normal flow every 28 days, for the last 3 months after coming off the pill I only took the pill on those days I had sex with my ex..stupid I know..even though I took the pill irregularly my period was only ever at the most 4 days late...however,I had sex on the 29.,30.,1.,and 2.
Avatar f tn ive only missed a a pill(just 1) during the first month of me taking it but i havent missed my pill but not since. and recently ive started having blood clots (im not sure if thats what its called. balls of blood) and at first it was kinda small but not really. now they are getting bigger. now its like a inch ish. ive talked to all of my friends and none of thems had any blood clots at all. i dont know what to do or if its my birthcontrol.
Avatar f tn This has been going on for 5 days. I'm on a birth control pill so at first I thought symptoms were due to irregularity taking it (missed one or two and sometimes took later than usual in the day during the last month). Took a home pregnancy test just to make sure - it was negative. I've recently been stressed out, but otherwise okay. I recently had a gynecology exam and they didn't mention anything unusual.
Avatar f tn I know I want to get back on the pill to stop the heavy bleeding and broken back syndrome. High blood pressure or not I can't handle this. And if it's making this watery discharge worse then that's adding insult to injury. I have to go back to my OB/GYN girl to check on the BP and ill ask about the discharge. I hope she can give some answers. I'll keep you updated!
Avatar n tn I was in the emergency room last week for a pulmonary embolism due to a few small blood clots in my lung. I have been on Yasmin for 4.5 years and am now off the pill and taking blood thinners and having to give myself injections. Like many of you say above, I could be taking them for the rest of my life. This is one of the scariest things I have had happen to me. Like many others, I am a 27 year old healthy female who has not smoked ever.
Avatar n tn Hi there, No - I am not on the pill - I have never been on the pill. I am perfectly healthy with the exception of a small heart murmur and this whole blood clot deal. The problem is that my original Dr. has told me that I can always come back if I have any questions - so I took her up on her offer and she told me that I was out of luck because she did not take my insurance - I would have to pay upfront to have her retest me. My new Dr.
Avatar n tn I have recurrent cold symptoms during my period. I have noticed the symptoms for about a year but for the last six months they have happened every month around the third day of my period. Symptoms include aching joints, blocked nose and headaches as well as generally feeling awful. Periods are heavy and painful with clotting for about seven-nine days. Cold Symptoms usually last 5-7days.
Avatar n tn My pads only absorb blood about one day out of my period when the fluid is thin enough. Otherwise the clots just come out when I use the toilet. Is this normal? Anyone with experience with this?
478225 tn?1208444756 I am the same age as u and my periods are irregular and i get bad stomach cramps a few days before period and whilst on my period and every period i pass blood clots quite big not as bad as yours and yes u can feel them passing and coming out! i wuldnt say its normal to pass blood clots the size u have described. and also weight gain can affect ur periods a lot and disrupt them as well it culd aslo be a sign of some other health problem, and takin the pill can change ur periods.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me that cause I was on my period while I took the blood test is probably why the results were negative. I’m still having my symptoms and it seems like they are getting worse. Two weeks ago, I was at a club and was feeling fine. Around 2ish, I began to feel nauseated. I didn’t have anything to drink. The next day, I felt the same way. Christmas morning, I was eating breakfast and felt my mouth warming up. This past Saturday, I felt nauseated once again.
284738 tn?1283110419 ” There is a third effect of the contraceptive pill. This effect is on the lining of the womb. What this does is to harden the lining of the womb—we say, make it hostile to implantation to this one-week-old embryo. If this is the function that prevents “pregnancy” that month, then it is implantation that is prevented. And this implantation, if prevented, kills a tiny one-week-old baby.
Avatar n tn it is normal to pass clots during your period and anything larger than a quarter may be a concern. i have passed clots before during my period when its heavy on the toilet and it does have that "feeling" when it comes out. but i would give the gyno. a call and ask about it.let us know if you get any answer.
Avatar f tn i am on the patch on my patch free week, and my period is about a day late. i was having very bad cramps this morning and desided not to go to school. so i stayed home and watched a movie while holding a blanket to my lower admin to hopefully stop my cramps. i went to the restroom and a think chunck of skin with slight blood and red spots feel out of my vag, im 18 and have been on this birth control for 2 months, earlier this week i have been feeling very sick and have never seen this before.
Avatar n tn One thing that can help that is being on the pill. The cramps you are experiencing is from your cervix dialating a little bit to let the clots through. Some women have entrodameterious (misspelled) and experience this. I however had that problem for years and I do know that the pill can help with that. I didn't have any medical reason for it other then that was just me. I ended up having my uterus taken out after I had my children because I got so tired of dealing with that.
Avatar n tn i went to the doctor brcause im having large blood clots during my menstral and me checked for a sist and done blood work but cant find a problem.
Avatar n tn The iron level is usually between 9 and 10, dropping during menstrual periods. The tissue passage has been accompanying the heavy periods since 06/06. In answer to the most common questions: No, I am not miscarrying on a monthly basis. No, I am not causing or have reason to suspect trauma to my vaginal walls which causes sleeves of flesh to fall off. Yes, I had an (internal and external) ultrasound performed by a local VA hospital three weeks ago (still no results).
Avatar m tn Some women will notice their breasts get fuller/larger after being on the pill for a while while some notice no change in appearance. While I don't think you're pregnant this time, I will advise you to be careful and consider using a condom with your boyfriend in case. The pill does not protect you from STDs, and you can still get pregnant if you do not use your pill correctly (forget for several days, miss and double up more than 2-3 times in a month).
