768044 tn?1294227036 so, maybe I will talk to my neurologist about the possibility of trying a Calcium Channel Blocker for me too. That's good to know though about the Calcium Channel Blockers lowering blood pressure... I don't have low blood pressure, so hopefully the blood pressure thing won't exclude me from trying the medication since my blood pressure isn't very high atm either. We will see what my neurologist says. Let me know if you start noticing a difference in your migraine pattern! :) Good luck!
Avatar n tn Do you have different information on it? Coral calcium From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Coral calcium is a salt of calcium derived from fossilized coral reefs. Living coral reefs are endangered and cannot be harvested without significant damage to the ecosystem, and because of this, coral calcium is harvested by grinding up above-ground limestone deposits that were once part of a coral reef. Calcium from coral sources need to be refined to remove pollutants of the source environment.
Avatar n tn its not blood blisters, its a blood vessel under the skin like your vein pops and then there is a bruise for about 2 days then it goes away
Avatar f tn -- red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body; -- white blood cells, which help fight infection; and, -- platelets, which stick together at the site of a cut or wound to form a clot to stop the bleeding. People who have thrombocytopenia don’t have enough platelets to form a blood clot, and so they may bleed excessively when they are cut. 2 -- How does thrombocytopenia occur?
Avatar n tn i had sexual intercourse about 7 or 8 times before seeing a doctor. the same occurred except for 2 times, in which no blood appeared. but the majority of times blood came out in the sperm, or only after ejaculation during urination, or both in the sperm and the urine. once i woke up without having had sex that week and urinated blood. i tested my blood, sperm, and urine and the only abnormality was a high psa level. my dr said it is very rare and is that high in 40/50 year old.
Avatar n tn ____________ These muscle cramps can have many possible causes including hormonal imbalances, dehydration, low levels of potassium or calcium in the blood, side effects of medication, or, more seriously, diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and neuropathy. ____________ It also mentions that they are often seen during pregnancy. I sure had them then.
Avatar m tn D another is maybe you become tachycardic because as we urinate (which is because sodium excretion is promoted by cozaar), blood volume decreases, as a result , increase in HR occur to compensate in low blood volume by trying to pump more blood. that's the reason i think behind the tachycardia thing.
Avatar m tn 30yr old male count is 26 they put me on 50,000 iu my symptoms are fatigue ,legs and stomach hurt ,warm felling in chest ,lightheaded and headaches they did an mri on the brain a stress test and a ekg plus a bunch of blood work everything came back good except for low vitiamin d count can that cause all these symptoms and if so how long till i start feeling better this is my first week on 50,000 iu
Avatar m tn I didn't have an angiogram though and only went because of Calcium Score of 1217 with LAD at 782. I have no angina. b.) Let's assume Calcium Score relates to blockage, then my LAD is blocked ~75%, although I realy have no way of knowing. If 65% of men have an "event" at 50% blockage what does that mean for men with 75% blockage? Does the probability of an event go up to 70% then I would say: "So what?" If it would go up to let's say to 95%, that would be a (big) problem.
Avatar m tn How Much Does it Take to Overdose on Vitamin D While high Blood Calcium Levels are useful to determine an overdose on vitamin d, it really takes an AMAZINGLY large amount to cause a Vitamin D Overdose. In fact, in East Germany between the 1940's and 1960's, children would ROUTINELY get 6 doses of 600,000 IU's of Vitamin D between birth and 18 months old. This gave these small children an incredible 3,600,000 IU's of Vitamin D in 18 months.
Avatar n tn and these days i am getting numbness in legs and hands . i am fearing lot . i did megnesiam test and Calcium test megnesiam is normal Calcium is 7.6 mg ( 8.
Avatar n tn I am a 31 year old male that has sinus tachycardia with normal blood presure and normal heart function I have had all the tests done but everytime I go to the ER I get mixed advice from the doctor some say I'll be fine others tell me that it could cause heart attack, stroke or even death.I am unable to take beta blockers or calcium channel blockers.
434278 tn?1324709825 Your eye doc will see inflammatory cells in the eye but will likely not be able to tell you what caused the inflammation. Honestly, if you wikipedia sarcoidosis, the vast majority of your questions will be answered. I can describe the skin rash, but they have a pretty good picture there, which is much better than I could ever explain. Lungs: Shortness of breath, dry cough, granulomas present on x-ray or CT. Brain: Facial palsy is almost always the first symptom of this.
Avatar m tn 16) Numbness in lips I took all of this to my doctor who sent me to a neurologist. He ran a series of tests 1) Blood tests ruling out diabetes, thyroid trouble, myasthenia gravis etc. 2) A nerve conductivity test 3) A visually evoked potential test 4) An MRI of both my brain and c-spine 5) Two thorough neurological exams Result: No clear cause. On one level this is probably reassuring but it still leaves me with said 'multiple symptoms' making life really difficult. Thanks for your help!
Avatar f tn Arteries have a smooth muscle in the walls which are used to constrict or relax the vessels, and to do this they require Calcium from the blood travelling through them. The Calcium is extracted from the blood through tiny channels in the artery lining and the less Calcium the muscle can get, the harder it is for them to do any work.
Avatar f tn So, I've stayed at 750 mg and will 'til I figure out the right amount to take when I add calcium back in. The trick with the calcium is two-fold. My neurologist told me to take the magnesium separately from the calcium and at different times. Both minerals should be taken with food. Vitamin D is necessary for the whole mix to work. The other thing about calcium supplementation is that calcium causes constipation. So do iron supplements. So, getting the right balance can be tricky.
Avatar f tn Testing should include ionized calcium as well as serum calcium. Ionized calcium is clinically more accurate. RBC (red blood cell) magnesium is a better blood test than magnesium serum. However both blood tests are not accurate as only 1% of magnesium is in the blood. Vitamin D levels has nothing to do with making the diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism. Low Vitamin D does not cause high PTH and high calcium.
4852898 tn?1360043462 I have put on a few kilos while I was slightly hypothyroid but still find it hard to exercise. I have had my gallbladder out. My weight is fine, most blood tests are fine, and my doctor doesn't know what's wrong with me. My bilirubin and bicarbonate are slightly high. Cortisol is fine. Still waiting on coeliac test but it was negative a year ago.
Avatar n tn Having used the VA for M/H treatment for several years I have found that sometimes you have to demand the help you need. The med you said he is taking is a Calcium Channel Blocker and used to treat High Blood Pressure. It may have relieved his chest pain that was caused by tension. In order to receive anti-anxiety meds you may have to request them by name, such as Xanax, possibly along with an anti depressant, some of which have very good anti anxiety properties.

Avatar f tn It ain't a sinus infection and an MRI and CT scan probably won't show much. Calcium is utilized in contraction of the muscles surrounding the blood vessels, and this might be a factor. The heart rate increase is compensatory. Not too hard to explain. It certainly is not a psychiatric issue. But this isn't a problem to be fooled with on an internet board.
1828749 tn?1317782118 I googled it and got this from Wikipedia "Verapamil is used to treat high blood pressure and to control angina (chest pain). The immediate-release tablets are also used alone or with other medications to prevent and treat irregular heartbeats. Verapamil is in a class of medications called calcium-channel blockers. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so ...
272728 tn?1194744403 I'm just a little worried about taking blockers because they decrease the heart rate and blood pressure, since my heart rate can drop pretty low and my blood pressure is usually borderline below normal, so I'm concerned that if I was to start taking those, that I might have some more problems, especially passing out, which truly is something I could live without right now since I do have panic disorder.
290648 tn?1211595446 I got an amnio yesterday. we didn't plan on it because my blood work came back as 1 in 6,200 chance of having downsyndrome (which are great numbers - it could have been anywhere from one in 10 to 1 in 10,000) but then yesterday at the ultrasound the dr. pointed out a white mark in the heart that brought the odds of downs to 1 in 100. (something about calcium on a valve-- heart is functioning fine, but its just something that shows up in downs babies) so recommended the amnio.
Avatar n tn Trudeau has also agreed to pay $2 million to settle charges that he falsely claimed that a coral calcium product can cure cancer and other serious diseases and that a purported analgesic called Biotape can permanently cure or relieve severe pain.
Avatar f tn While taking Prednisone, you absolutely must take about 1500 mg of calcium, preferably calcium citrate, with Vitamin D. This is essential, as prednisone leaches calcium from your bones. You should talk to your doctor about taking a drug such as Fosamax to protect your bone density. Ask about having a baseline bone density scan. These are good to have done at intervals, as they can help a doctor (probably an endocrinologist) decide what type of bone-protective drug will be of the most help.
Avatar m tn I eat a bananas every day and drink 2 glass of milk per day to try to keep my calcium and potassium up. I have noticed if I sleep with my legs spread apart as far apart as I can get them it keeps my legs from hurting when I sleep. I recently had a physical exam my cholesterol is 131, HDL 47, LDL 73, Triglycerides 94, VLDL 19, blood pressure 69 over 120. When I was young I road my bicycle 30+ mile every day.
