Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol vision

alcohol

Avatar f tn The acute effects of alcohol depend on the concentration of alcohol in the blood (directly correlated with the amount and time of drinking). Initially, alcohol generally produces feelings of relaxation and cheerfulness, but further consumption can lead to blurred vision and coordination problems. After excessive drinking, unconsciousness can occur and extreme levels of consumption can lead to alcohol poisoning and death. Hence, it is definitely not due to stroke or heart attack.
Avatar m tn ) You could have a slight eye muscle imbalance. This type of double vision gets worse with fatigue or alcohol consumption.

1211508 tn?1343079605 s cool to maybe have 2-3 drinks a day instead of Klonopin? Anxiety sufferers are told to stay away from caffeine and liquor but I am tired of this tunnel vision feeling when I'm nervous. I hate it. It shuts me down completely. It's not a panic attack either...just this weird kinda spinny, tunnel vision thing I get when I'm not at ease. It's just awful. I will even do cocaine if I have to, to make it stop.
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm writing because I am concerned about my eye sight and I don't know if I'm overthinking or not. Since Halloween weekend I keep thinking my eyesight might be worsened, at least in terms of seeing long distances. I had an excessive amount of alcohol during the weekend, to the point of blacking out completely, and I also had fake blood (the gel-kind) close to my which could very likely have gotten into my eye during the night.
Avatar f tn The other possibility which can be considered is high blood pressure. Have you checked your blood pressure? Can I ask your age? Lastly, please consult a Neurologist and get an MRI of the brain to rule out any intracranial space occupying lesion, especially in the posterior part.
666921 tn?1254990618 I don't think alcohol would be compatible with my current antibiotic regimen, but I gave up drinking (and smoking and several other things, such as artificial sweeteners) a year ago anyway. My motivation to quit was part increased sensitivity, and part desperation to help get me a diagnosis. I was worried that some of my less-than-savory habits were easy targets for my stumped doctors. I also figured that whatever my illness was, trying harder to take care of myself would help out.
Avatar n tn I have a swollen optic nerve. I have had an MRI and blood work - all coming back clean. The doctor doesn't believe a spinal tap is needed and believes I have a virus that will take time to work it's way out at which point my vision will return to normal. I was wondering if anyone has information on tobacco or nicotine toxicity. I've read that there is such a thing that can cause your optic nerve(s) to swell. I am a heavy smokeless tobacco user.
Avatar f tn You surely should not drink any alcohol at all while taking pain medication, or any medication for that matter.

Avatar n tn I was to a very good retinal specialist t check my vision. I am 22. He was very surorised becuase my vision in one eye is 20/20 in other 20/60. My progression stopped in 2004. Since then i have the same. Also the other doctor was surprised because in one eye i was -30, now i am -29. I have a very detailed exam. and i have only in one eye i little vessel broken so i have a tiny scotoma, but if i look with booth eyes i dont even notice it.
Avatar m tn Approximately 6 months ago while I was driving at night I suddenly saw a blue flash near the center of my vision. I thought my retina had torn so I saw an ophthalmologist that night and they told me it was probably a retinal migraine. The next morning the blue flash was still there so I went to a retinal surgeon and had a florescene angiogram done and all the surgeon could find is that I had a small blood vessel collapse.

Avatar n tn However, alcoholic hepatitis or gastritis usually recovers if you stop drinking alcohol. So if you remained off alcohol for a few months then, you would have recovered from any lingering side effects even if your drinks were spiked. However, yes, gastritis can persist but it unlikely to cause the problems you are facing. You could however get blood tests to rule out anemia, thyroid problems and vitamin B12 deficiency as cause of your symptoms.

1054985 tn?1257173275 I drink a glass of red wine a few times a week, maybe the odd cognac or calvados, and only rarely will I overdo it as I do not bounce back from hangovers like I did when I was 19. This is an age related issue, not MS related! I have a history of vision problems due to MS: a short, painful bout of ON with no permanent vision loss, and severe, year long double vision.
Avatar f tn Woke up around 10am and continued on with my day, taking it easy with what I eat and drink lots of water throughout the day. Out of no where, I started to feel dizzy/blurry vision, but not dizzy to the point where I was falling over the place. I just assumed I was still a little hungover and took it easy, went to sleep. I woke up the next day and I was overwhelmed with the dizziness again. I just assumed it was just a bad long hangover, and it’d pass by tomorrow.
Avatar n tn i came to know that it might be one of the alcohol withdrawl symptoms.what is the treatment for it.will it affect my vision?my vision is normal till now..i feel little giddy and i have to work more than 10 hours a day with my computer...
Avatar n tn Hi alcohol can cause low blood sugar levels for some due to its effect on the liver. But even more it can cause those person with diabetes to pay less attention to their health and blood sugars. This does not mean you can never drink alcohol, But it should be taken in moderation only. When you do have a first drink (remember moderation) do it in the company of a trusted friend so you can safely see the effect it has on you.
Avatar m tn Back when I was a freshman in college I was heavy into partying, drinking and doing drugs, mainly marijuana and occasionally Robo-tripping (DXM). During the end of my freshman year I had an experience where I woke up in the middle of the night and was sweating profusely I couldn't breathe and I felt like everyone was talking about me, it was the scariest thing I've every experienced in my entire life. Literally the next day I started to notice a slew of symptoms.
Avatar f tn About 8 months ago I was given about a whole bottle of Delsym. It was poured into my drink without my knowing. I got a terrible headache and eventually passed out. The next day, I experienced many vision problems. Whenever I look at lights, they are very hazy and look like "starburst lights" and they have a glare to them. My regular vision is fine, just lights are terrible. Oncoming headlights and stoplights are completely hazy and I can't stand it.
