Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) seropositivity indicates the presence of hepatitis B viral (HBV) infection (acute or chronic). The disappearance of HBsAg from
serum with development of the corresponding antibody, anti-HBs, indicates conventional resolution of infection.
