Avatar n tn I had my blood test today and the results were 58/202. My GI doctor said my enzyme levels were high and want to do more test. Is this serious should i worry about Hepatitis??? My primary doc already said from the xray 7 month ago my liver looks swollen? but not to worry about...
Avatar f tn Your medications have been prescribed to help breakdown and eliminate the production of cholesterol and dilate your blood vessels. Alcohol ultimately constricts blood vessels, and increases dangerous cholesterol levels; my suggestion would be to stop, not lower but stop your alcohol consumption; otherwise your risk of liver damage will be synergistic , the combination of a statin or blood pressure medications with alcohol; is illogical and downright dangerous.
Avatar n tn ve had any symptoms and maybe this is why you got your blood work done. Even alcohol use can cause an increase in this. Many reasons could be the culprit. Not to mention IBS. So, if you are having gi issues, it's not unusual for this to be elevated. Your lipase is in the normal range. Did your doctor call you back for these results? Are you being treated for anything?
Avatar n tn I recently went in for a consultation with a specialist in viral infections at New York Presbyterian. I went in order to resolve a history of conflicting test results. The doctor ordered a blood test and the results were negative for both HSV 1 and HSV 2. My question is: could a full 12 ounce glass of wine (10% alcohol) the night before the test cause false negatives. That is, could the alcohol reduce the antibody count?
Avatar n tn t expect to get tested). Can alcohol mess up the results of the Elisa test? Can alcohol lower the antibody count so that the results are a false negative? I do not drink on an ongoing basis, but occasionally have a glass of wine with dinner. I may have had a full glass of wine the night before the test. Just don't recall.
Avatar f tn My question is since my finger was indeed wet with alcohol, could he have contaminated the blood sample and skew the results? Could the alcohol have killed the virus? My result was negative but the fact he used the first drop of blood and rubbing alcohol was still wet, worries me. Thank you for any assistance.

However, the probability for further deterioration is very high for an unfavorable outcome if there is no change. Heart medication can slow or stop the progression of heart disease (sometimes reverse), but all risk factors that can be controlled should be to enabled the most benefical results.

Avatar n tn Lab tests for ethanol are measured in mg/DL (miligrams per decilitre.) To convert your results to blood alcohol level, move the decimal three places to the left. In your case, your BAC would be 0.18, which is above the legal drinking limit in the USA and Canada.
Avatar f tn Abstinence from all forms of alcohol is the most important therapeutic intervention for patients with ALD. Continued alcohol ingestion results in an increased risk of progression of liver disease and worsened short-term and long-term outcomes. Complete abstinence from alcohol, a healthy diet and lifestyle can reverse advanced Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD). Questions you may want to ask your doctor: * Should I see a specialist?

Avatar m tn d gotten all negative results, but I got new concern. Does excessive alcohol comsumption may give false negative results? I heard alcohol may suppress immune system. I have drunk a lot for many years. Especially, after this event 7 weeks ago, I drank a lot. 3~4 times a week. I drink 6~12 bottles of beer, 1~2 bottles of wine, or a half bottle of whisky per night. Now I try to reduce my alcohol consumption. If alcohol prohibit the antibody production, what should I do?
