Avatar f tn With all due respect, BMI is based on calculations and should be accurate from calculator to calculator. More information is provided in this post. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn The key is percentage of body fat, not weight, as muscle is heavier than fat.
Avatar f tn So I'm wondering how long alcohol takes to get out of your system? So I can pump enough breast milk for "x" amount of days before my milk is good again.
10947 tn?1281404252 Thanks for all of the great information on the BMI Calculator. I have been using an online BMI calculator from a weight loss website called http://www.FitClick.com. The BMI calculator is a great way to calculate your body mass and percentage of fat and jump start your workouts to lower your body fat and/or increase your muscle size. Breaking it down for people looking to enhance their weight loss is a great idea; it helps me comprehend the topic a little better (which is good right?
7184931 tn?1390773745 t need to pump and dump at all. You can compare breastmilk to blood when drinking. If alcohol is out of your blood its ok to breatfeed. A very small percentage of alcohol goes into breastmilk also. You could always do he strips but it costs a good bit. I just always kept track with time.
Avatar f tn So I just started working in the section of the laboratory that I work for that tests for particular marks in patients blood to determine if a HIV positive individual can undergo a particular treatment or not. As I was putting the caps back onto a large number of samples (which had been washed 3 times with T10E1, washed 3 times with PBS, centrifuged after every wash so to discard the red blood cells, placed in a 56 degree oven for 30 minutes, then finally a 100 degree oven for 40 minutes...
Avatar f tn Have you had an ultrasound yet? If you get one right now, you will probably be early enough to be able to put the estimated due date (from the embryo's size and developmental markers) into a conception calculator and try to get some clarity that way. Don't wait, though, because ultrasounds are less useful for dating the pregnancy the further along you get.

Avatar m tn alcohol though needed by the body can be generated from the food we eat ...excessive intake of alcohol isbad to your health...lesser intake but prolonged and habitual intake is also bad to your health and can put you at risk of liver diseases such as hepatitis which progresses to scarring of the liver which finally progresses toliver cancer. less percentage of people survive this.
Avatar m tn I had blood work done and a few numbers have me concerned. My LYMPHOCYTES number is low, 0.76 out of 1-3. My percentage though is 22% out of 15-41. Also my MONO % IS HIGH AT 17% out of 1-10. My WBC is 3.42 and my ALT is 65 out of 8-54. Looking back at old tests looks like these numbers are getting worse, some have fluctuated though.
Avatar m tn Hello and thank you in advance for your responses. During the past few weeks I suspected that my girlfriend was pregnant, but was unsure. Yesterday we finally did a home pregnancy test and she is! We are scared but excited. My major concern is that she drank the previous night and also about a week ago. Now she is not in any way a alcoholic but a week ago was a friend of her's birthday and she had maybe 2 or 3 rum and cokes. Last weekend the same...maybe 3 or 4 over 4 or 5 hours.
Avatar f tn Many people go their whole pregnancy not knowing they are pregnant and ingest worse stuff, there isn't usually a lot of alcohol percentage to a bottle of wine, yes I agree it still shouldn't have been a whole bottle, just let your midwife or doctor know next time you see them so they can take the correct precautions at the birth incise anything does happen from it. Try not to stress over it what's done is done.

Best to consult with the doctor though. Of equal importance in all this is your health and well being; you might want to contact Alanon, if you haven’t already done so. There are folks there that can offer you coping tools to help you through all this.
Avatar m tn On the same day I went to Baylor medical center in Plano Texas and had blood work done. My AST was 95, My ALT was 212, and my GGT was 335. They said they have no clue what could be causing that. My last drink of alcohol was over a week prior to all of these tests. What do I make of this information? They are referring me to a gastroenterologist who have seen before and they said get a biopsy.
Avatar m tn You should not touch a single drink. Period. Do not pass go. Do not collect two hundred dollars. Antibiotics to not kill bacterial infections, They prevent the bacteria from replicating. Alcohol significantly degrades action of antibiotics. The specific bacterial agent has not been identified. There is no percentage in playing Russian roulette. You may luck out and have no problem. But you may end up with a drug-resistant infection.
Avatar n tn Sounds like you are part of the "chosen few", if it happened to you. I had a friend some years ago, like in 1997 and one year I saw her and she tested positive for HepC. A year or two later, she was testing negative, great news as she is one of my favorite people that I was in rehab with.
Avatar m tn You would need to have significant open wounds if both of you had that in order for transmission to occur (which I assume in this case is extremely unlikely and nil). Forget it and move on.
Avatar f tn It doesn't really work that way. If you gain 13lbs in your first 20 weeks you're likely to gain at least twice that in the second half. Baby is still incredibly tiny, weighing less than a pound - sure you're also adding placenta and amniotic fluid and blood volume now, but the actual weight of that whole package is very minimal at this point. But between weeks 20 and 40 baby gains 7-8 lbs, placenta gains several more, plus additional blood and fluid...
