Avatar f tn Yes, alcohol affects blood sugar level - Each and Every time it's consumed. that being said, High blood sugar and high blood alcohol content would be 2 separate elements measured in Your blood. 80% of the alcohol from EVERY drink goes directly to the blood stream and, THAT is why You have high blood alcohol content. Avatar f tn Your medications have been prescribed to help breakdown and eliminate the production of cholesterol and dilate your blood vessels. Alcohol ultimately constricts blood vessels, and increases dangerous cholesterol levels; my suggestion would be to stop, not lower but stop your alcohol consumption; otherwise your risk of liver damage will be synergistic , the combination of a statin or blood pressure medications with alcohol; is illogical and downright dangerous.
Avatar m tn Alcohol is a toxin so your Liver stops all other functions (and there are dozens of them) to detoxify your Blood. Its the liver that removes Met. So detoxing the alcohol can cause the Met to build up in your system. You dont say how much Met you take. To be a problem you would have to drink for a Looooooong time as in alcoholic behavior where so the liver never has a chance to go back to its other functions.
Avatar n tn It sends glucose out into the blood, which helps you avoid or slow down a low blood sugar reaction. However, when alcohol is involved, the liver won't put out glucose again until it has taken care of the alcohol. If your blood glucose level is falling, you can quickly wind up with very low blood sugar. This is why drinking on an empty stomach can lead to very low blood sugar. Alcohol can cause low blood sugar for up to 12 hours after drinking.
