Avatar m tn I think that there may be a chance that when I made contact with him that the contact caused my cut to re open and bleed slightly and that there is a chance that some of his blood could have made contact. I can't be 100 % sure his blood got in there. I don't recall him bleeding heavily only that he had a red cut that looked like it may have bled a bit. Is this risky and a mode of transmission if he is HIV?

Avatar n tn I suspect your concern is based on extrapolation of the observation that most people who have herpes do not know it. That does not mean that they acquired it without knowing it. While that probably happened in a small proportion of cases, it is much more likely that they had symptoms which they attributed to something else and then went away, having never been examined.

Avatar n tn Hi alcohol can cause low blood sugar levels for some due to its effect on the liver. But even more it can cause those person with diabetes to pay less attention to their health and blood sugars. This does not mean you can never drink alcohol, But it should be taken in moderation only. When you do have a first drink (remember moderation) do it in the company of a trusted friend so you can safely see the effect it has on you.
Avatar f tn Yes, alcohol affects blood sugar level - Each and Every time it's consumed. that being said, High blood sugar and high blood alcohol content would be 2 separate elements measured in Your blood. 80% of the alcohol from EVERY drink goes directly to the blood stream and, THAT is why You have high blood alcohol content. Four drinks would put everyones' blood alcohol above the legal limit Alcohol is harmful to the body - as is diabetes.

Avatar f tn Sorry, I do not have the references with me to provide this. The figure is an extrapolation from studies by Dr. Anna Wald and her colleagues which evaluated the risk of HSV transmission among participants who took part in "partner studies" in which one partner was known to have HSV and the other was not. These partner studies have been conducted to evaluate prototype vaccines for prevention of HSV-2 and, unfortunately, showed that the vaccine did not work as hoped.
