Blood alcohol conversion

Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol conversion

alcohol

Avatar n tn The reason you find drinking moderately now affects you is that your body got used to the heavy drinking and now it is converting alcohol quicker in your liver. Alcohol is technically a poison which our livers de-tox then re-tox to give you the high. It takes approximately one hour for a drink to not cause damage, but many people drink more than 2 or 3 standard drinks an hour and end up with damage.
Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
667016 tn?1238891904 I've done research on both of these - as I've got a T4/T3 conversion problem at cellular level, caused by micronutrient imbalances & estrogen dominance. The information I've read is pretty in depth & complicated. I still can't quite get my head around T3 resistance, the more I research - the more confused I get! Is having a conversion problem & being T3 resistant the same thing?
Avatar f tn I'm like you about the alcohol. I'm undx, but found out a few years ago that alcohol makes me feel even worse than normal. My daughter bought me a bottle of wine for my birthday on Friday, so I said what the heck, "it's my birthday" WRONG!!! Shouldn't have done that!!! I only drank two very small glasses and it made me feel horrible. Tingling, weak legs and the feeling like any energy I did have had seeped out. It is a really bad feeling.
533063 tn?1262366101 I'm sure that this happens back in the states & in other developed countries as well, but it seems more prevalent here! I'm currently residing in Romania & have had all of my bloodwork performed here. Some of the values seem the same, but others are just waaaay out there! I was trying to fill out my Thyroid Tracker and realized that my Free T4 values were the same for two and different for the other two... and completely in different units than the Tracker indicates! March - 0.
Avatar f tn Our family is desperate to help our 14 year old daughter who has a conversion disorder accompanied by depression & severe anxiety. Her case seems to be unique for a number of reason that I can expand on if anyone out there needs more information. Our child has been doing very well once we finally found the medication Lexapro. She was a year into taking 30mg daily plus Clonepin (.25mg 2x daily) and doing very well. Recently, she started going down hill.
Avatar m tn You never had an exposure in this situation, concern yourself with the exposure you did have.
Avatar n tn Seroconversion is the detectable change in your blood values when your body produces antibodies detectable with ANTIBODY ASSAYS.
Avatar f tn I have Hashimoto's disease. My recent blood test showed T4 = 25, TSH =0.05, and T3 = 4.9. I am taking 150mcg of Eutrosig daily. Low TSH indicates hyperthyroidism, but Hashimoto's disease is hypothyroidism. What's happening here?
1874425 tn?1321972660 This is my first time posting in this forum! I am trying my best to "survive limbo land" and today wasn't one of my best days. I am in the midst of an ugly symptom flare (heavy limbs, tingling everywhere, twitching, extreme fatigue) and went to the ER today because I could not take deep breaths. It scared me. I wound up w a psych eval and they referred me to intensive "day therapy" for two weeks to rule out "conversion syndrome".
798555 tn?1292787551 I was told by a functional MD that a regular B6 bold test is not accurate - it will not show a b6 to 5-p-5 conversion deficiency and only shows what is floating in your blood, which can "pool" if your dont convert it to the usable form So your liver might not be converting it to the usable form but , per B6 test, you might think your over the range. I've looked and asked around for a B6 test that shows whats converted or whats in the cells, but cant find out anything.
Avatar f tn I am not too familiar with blood alcohol, but I would think that maybe you could have been dehydrated and that could have caused the reading. Try drinking more water next time.
Avatar f tn I am on armor thyroid and synthroid. My blood is checked 3 times a year and the thyroid values are normal. I have fibromyalgia and many symptoms of hypothyroidism. Could I have a problem converting T4 to T3?
Avatar f tn I do however strongly advise you to research the information Goolaara and I suggested about RT3 and FT3 conversion so you can have an intelligent - well rounded conversion on these issues. It sometimes is best to know what you need to know when talking these things over with your doctor. There's a "reason" why you are in this position. Thyroid disease does not just appear out of nowhere.
Avatar n tn in order to avoid blood clots, it is necessary for the blood to be consistently thin for a period of time before the conversion is done -- thus the wait. I started out on a low dosage of blood-thinners and worked my way up to my current 8 mg daily. My blood just wouldn't thin out quickly, and so, here I am: several weeks later, *finally* with thin blood. The PLUS of all this waiting is that my heart's rythm HAS RETURNED TO NORMAL ! (I had an ECG yesterday.
Avatar n tn Thus, during fasting, disease, or stress, the conversion of T4 to reverse-T3 increases. At these times, conversion of T4 to T3 decreases about 50%, and conversion of T4 to reverse-T3 increases about 50%. Under normal, non-stressful conditions, different enzymes convert some T4 to T3 and some to reverse-T3. The same is true during fasting, illness, or stress; only the percentages change--less T4 is converted to T3 and more is converted to reverse-T3.
Avatar n tn I am active work out 5-6 times per week and have no heart damage. Have taken stress tests and blood work all checked out ok. I am taking 50 mg of metroprolol 2 times per day. This has not helped. My doctor is recommending cardiac conversion. I do not want to do an invasive procedure if possible. Is there a non invasive option for me?
Avatar f tn Generally there are two types of seroconversion. The first one is conversion from HBeAg positive to HbeAg negative & HbeAb positive. The second one is the conversion from HbsAg positive to HbsAg negative & HbsAb positive. The second one means "free of Hep B", or your Hep B is completely under immune control.
Avatar n tn Hi alcohol can cause low blood sugar levels for some due to its effect on the liver. But even more it can cause those person with diabetes to pay less attention to their health and blood sugars. This does not mean you can never drink alcohol, But it should be taken in moderation only. When you do have a first drink (remember moderation) do it in the company of a trusted friend so you can safely see the effect it has on you.
