Common Questions and Answers about Blood alcohol and body weight

alcohol

Avatar n tn You need to eat more than what you do now. The best way to lose weight or to maintain a healthy weight is to eat whatever you want (obviously healthy foods) in moderation along with keeping a exercise routine 3+ days a week. Drinking alcohol, espeically beer will not help you in your process and since you are posting this in the Pregnancy forum....I'm really hoping you aren't pregnant because your whole diet, especially the alcohol could harm your unborn baby.
Avatar f tn ve read that it can help with blood pressure and irregular heatbeat. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hep a, is food contamination and is non chronic,, hep b or c,are blood and sex related, and can be chronic, but 95% of chronic cases are from birth,as adults, can clear the infection on their own. If you have elevated liver enzymes, your doctor should perform tests to exclude any of this things,I just mentioned. Then I'm really surprised your doctor didn't do it. Good luck.

481269 tn?1208280771 It worked great for me loosing weight. But, I do have 2 friends that mixed alcohol and phentermine and it was NOT a pretty site. It can increase some of the side effects of phentermine. It makes you have the ability to drink a lot more than you are used to, and it actually made both of my friends crazy in behavior.
Avatar f tn m wondering if there is any correlation between having a high blood alcohol content and high blood sugar, as high blood sugar turns into alcohol. Anyone know?
Avatar f tn Usually how sensitive you are to alcohol can differ from person to person and also depends on your weight and gender and how used you are to drinking for example. I also have a more speculative answer to your question. Alcohol is a known vasodilator, meaning that it opens up your blood vessels, which can cause a drop in blood pressure. This in turn causes your heart rate to go up since your body tries to compensate and keep up the blood pressure.
Avatar n tn A hypoglycemic episode can be life-threatening if your body is unable to help you by making those sugars available, and also if your alertness to the warning symptoms is dulled by alcoholic haze. Most doctors therefore suggest that all diabetics drink only small amounts of alcohol. Hypoglycemia can kill within hours if nobody finds the person, or if the person is just assumed to be drunk and nobody takes his or her inability to function seriously. 2. Cane sugar IS 'normal' sugar.
Avatar n tn In the present study, data on liver weight from 728 legal autopsies were analyzed with respect to gender, age, body height (BH), body weight (BW), body mass index (BMI), and body surface area (BSA). Descriptive statistics revealed that liver weight increases with age, reaching maximum values between 41 and 50 years in men and between 51 and 60 years in women. Thereafter, liver weight decreases again.
Avatar n tn I have a teenage son who has runaway, and I am trying to understand the effects that drugs and alcohol will have with his blood sugars, and insulin etc....
Avatar m tn Over the past few months I have had digestive problems, throat and abdominal discomfort, and weight loss. Here are my symptoms: Almost every day I feel that part of my throat is swollen and I have a dull ache/discomfort in my throat. Sometimes it is higher in my throat, near my tonsils, and other days it is lower at the base of my throat (I’m assuming near my thyroid?). The discomfort is pretty consistently on the left side of my neck/throat. This has been going on for over a month now.
Avatar f tn I am not too familiar with blood alcohol, but I would think that maybe you could have been dehydrated and that could have caused the reading. Try drinking more water next time.
Avatar f tn A study reported in the April 2006 Journal of Hepatology showed that alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels -- and whether ALT decreased with successful treatment with pegylated interferon/ribavirin -- were associated with markers of the metabolic syndrome, including high body mass index and elevated blood pressure, blood glucose, and blood fat levels.
Avatar n tn Your body considers alcohol a foreign substance and will drop everything to process it out of your body. All absorption of carbs stops until the alcohol is out of your system. Now, if you think, this is very, very risky. If your sugars are normal to low when you start, you risk a hypoglycemic reaction that you can't treat, and even worse, your alcohol intake/effects may mask low sugar symptoms. A very dangerous combination and I would NOT recomend using alcohol as a lowerer at all!!.
Avatar f tn Sometimes I experience chest pain, (infrequently spine pain, overall body pain), having trouble walking in the morning, and rarely I vomit. I am female, 40 years old, I am of average height and weight, I don't take any medications whatsoever, I keep a healthy intake of food, I rarely consume alcohol, no family medical history.
Avatar m tn cardio exercises like aerobics help u to reduce weight very fast while yoga tones the body and keeps your body systems fit( though cardio exercises also keep the system strong especially circulation of blood).. so you can do either of the two but you need guidance in the initial levels.. good luck...
1397822 tn?1294279534 Get your kidney function, parathyroid gland function and adrenal function tests done because these affect the electrolyte balance in the body. Stress, alcohol, caffeine and fatigue all cause similar symptoms. Certain sleep disorders and peripheral nerve disorders due to diabetes or hypothyroidism can also be the cause. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Extra weight puts added pressure on your portal vein and makes everything work harder, so, yes, losing weight and exercising would be helpful, too.
Avatar f tn BAC would be in hours spent drinking, body weight and number of drinks consumed in a certain timeframe.Your blood alcohol level would've been @ .32!that is triple the legal limit for intoxication!did u drive urself home?
Avatar m tn Both eliminating alcohol and adding stress can impact weight loss. It sounds like things are a bit more stable now. Concentrate on maintaining adequate hydration and take good care of yourself!
Avatar n tn I know what you're saying. I quit drinking and smoking cigarettes about 15 years ago. I spent about 25 years Bartending, and saw enough of what people do when drunk. It is the worst drug ever (alcohol). Pills, YEAH! I know all about all kinds of pills that give all kinds of thrills, and now look, I'm an Oxycontin Addict. I get Valium, but rarely, if ever take one. Trazadone, in my opinion, is the best sleep aid out there. It's an antidepressent, but in 150mg. and up.
Avatar f tn Stupidly, I had several drinks and drove my car. I was pulled over and my blood alcohol was almost 2! I only had 2 glasses of wine! Could Graves disease have affected my alcohol level?
1655289 tn?1326042889 During mood changes I have used drugs, such as marajuana, prescription drugs and alcohol. Every body likes a little drink occasionally but I have never drank very much or used drugs when I am well. I don't use them when I am depressed either..it is always a manic episode or a mixed state that sees me using these drugs to keep a lid on things..the problem is short term it does work! I use them to take the edge off and to keep the manic symptoms euphoric instead of losing that high..
Avatar f tn t the regular fever everyone experiences with weakness and fatigue but just heated body. I wonder if there is any relation between the cold environment and the rise of body temperature - any documented theory in the literature ? I tried linking it to my fear of std I may have acquired but based on a discussion of this on that forum suggests its not related to STD. So I'm curious to know why this maybe the case?
Avatar m tn yes will, her body is not able to detox the alcohol and she is basically "leaving las vegas" pickling herself. Any chance you could get her into a detox center? Alcohol turns into compounds like paint thinner and finger nail polish remover in the body. A healthy liver can detox or neutralize some alcohol, and sick liver cannot...if she keeps it up she'll be gone soon, if she got help she could cure and live another 40 years....you can commit a loved one to get them into detox.
