Avatar n tn A friend told me this could be a kidney infection. Does anyone have any other ideas? Does this sound serious? I have a trip planned for this weekend and I really don't want to cancel it b/c of this. Part of my problem is that I don't have health insurance, can I go to any clinic for this or do you think I will need to see a urologist for this?
Avatar n tn I left something out. Even with one kidney blocked you can still pee, because the other kidney is still functioning.
Avatar f tn Additional diagnostic tests may need to be done to determine the underlying cause. Kidney stone may cause an infection and subsequently an increase in the white blood cells. It is best that you discuss this with your doctor for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted. Best regards.
Avatar n tn The pressure effects of such obstruction will cause significant damage to the kidney and this will be further complicated if there is an infection. A jagged stone stuck in the ureters can cause significant trauma to the mucosa and can cause blood to appear in urine. Underlying kidney disease will also cause microscopic quantities of blood in urine.
Avatar f tn I have started to have issues with retaining water really bad, especially in the winter time. I drink about 5 bottles of water that are 750ml a day and the bloating will go down. I watch my sodium intake and keep it minimal, however, i defiantly notice i will retain more when i eat more salt. Every morning i wake up with bloating, which is typically in my fingers, feet and face to the point that my rings are so tight on my fingers.
Avatar f tn By yesterday morning I had really bad lower back pain so went to docs. Doc believes it to be a kidney infection so have prescribed anti biotics and are sending urine off for tests. Fingers crossed things will get better! Doc gave the same advice you gave about chlamydia but said get retested if it would ease my mind. Thanks again for your advice.
658828 tn?1225046595 To tell you a little about my medical history I was diagnosed with a chronic bladder condition called Interstitial Cystitis and my doctor thinks I most likely have IBS as well b/c of the bloating, problems with bowel movements being different etc. She tested my urine for a kidney infection b/c of the back pain but there was nothing indicative of an infection. I do not have any symptoms of kidney or liver problems (believe I have read about them!) No jaundice, edema, loss of appetite.
Avatar n tn I would hope not as I have had blood in my urine for the past 3 months and no one mentioned it to me. I have had a hysterectomy my ovaries are still in. but geez I hope that means nothing. I don't have any infection either.
Avatar m tn I had a mild UTI at the end of December and went to the doctor for antibiotics because my kidneys felt tender. They never really hurt, but I could feel them as if they were slightly swollen. The doctor tested by urine and my blood and gave me an injection of penicillin and 7 days of cipro. The UTI symptoms (burning, bloating, etc.) went away immediately and have not returned. However, my kidneys were still tender even after finishing the antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Take omeprazole (empty stomach in morning) and antacid gel and see if it helps. Liver and kidney dysfunction is another cause. Hence kidney and liver function tests should be done. Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea and vomiting. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc.
Avatar m tn Hello, Since the kindey stone is 7 mm, so the symptoms seem unrelated to the kidney stones. Since you are having pedal or leg edema, hence your cardiac, liver and kidney functions need to be assessed for which I suggest you to consult a physician immediately. Abdominal causes like irritable bowel syndrome can also cause such symptoms. Common symptoms include abdominal cramping or pain, bloating and gassiness, and altered bowel habits(alternate constipation and loose stools).

Avatar f tn I ended up in even more pain Saturday evening and they admitted me and finally realized it was a kidney infection. I spent from Saturday night until Wednesday afternoon. I was on iv antibiotics and iv fluids the whole time. I was discharged with instructions for modified bed rest and had to take macrobid the rest of my pregnancy to avoid it reoccurring. I ended up having my son at 35 weeks.
Avatar m tn I have looked at symptoms of kidney infection and the only part that fits is the throbbing back pain. No fever, no nausea or vomiting, chills. I am fatigued, but I haven't been sleeping well because if the throbbing pain. I have been drinking plenty of fluids, cranberry juice and lots of water. I hate to waste the money on another doctor visit if they are just going to give me a muscle relaxer for back pain.
Avatar f tn A kidney infection is just the result of an untreated bladder infection. I had a kidney infection two years ago and it was awful. The medication you get should knock it out if it is an infection, or stronger ones if it doesn't work.
Avatar f tn I never had a kidney infection but at 29 weeks I had kidney stones that caused my urine to be pure blood and contractions that required magnesium to stop. I would go in just in case.
