755829 tn?1246919225 Hi there, I provide some basic advice on other forums, but am looking for some advice of my own now, I am wondering if there are health benefits in cutting out coffee and replacing it with decafe coffee, some friends say its good others say it's no better?
Avatar m tn It depends, how much makes a big difference. One or two cups late morning and afternoon has many benefits but not every day. Coffee is like a buggy whip, it can be overdone. It must be black. It is much different when you add cream and sugar. Some coffee is more like a milk shake with a little coffee flavor. If you don't like it black, you really don't like coffee.

Avatar f tn I wish I could drink coffee on tx! I drank it regularly before tx, but ever since I started I'venot only become overly sensitive to anything that is bitter, but I also get a terribly upset stomach whenever I try to drink some coffee anyway. It seems kind of pathetic.
315996 tn?1429054229 I hate to bring bad news but I have read that any kind of milk added to tea or coffee louses up the benefits. I can't remember the particulars . Jim posted something about milk wrecking the good in coffee a long time ago...something about the combo causing carcinogens. If I remember correctly, the milk added to tea binds the very thing that causes the benefit . I don't like milk in tea but I have added vanilla soy milk to coffee and it wasn't bad.
Avatar f tn Since the studies each determined something different about milk, non dairy creamer and sugar I think if someone is drinking coffee to get the full benefits then it just best to drink it black. Good luck to Joe! I really hope he get to SVR his next time around with the new meds and with the 4 cups of coffee. Thanks for sharing with us, I had no idea these coffee studies were out there.
Avatar m tn Also, if he drank Pepto Bismol, it will turn waste black. You can always go to the county health department and be seen there for very little cost.

Avatar m tn Hi Jeff, I think you and I are at almost the same wave-length. While I cure nocturnal headaches with two sips of black coffee, you do easier fall asleep. Maybe this is because of the habit, the addiction or the effect that caffeine has on the cardiovascular system? Maybe everything? I had one assignment that I had a deadline on one day. I had completely forgotten the date so I woke up and as I picked up my books, I realized the deadline was 11AM.

Avatar f tn It sounds like you're having digestion problems. The most problematic of the foods you mention generally are first, the milk, second, the sugar, and third the coffee. But it's hard to say since diet is very complicated, and you don't say how soon after eating you laid down. Chamomile is a good stomach relaxant and anti-inflammatory, perhaps try some of that instead of the coffee, milk, and sugar and see how you do, assuming you don't need the coffee to stay awake.
1042487 tn?1275279899 Only university and some hospital affiliated researchers, with limited budgets, have any interest in exploring the health benefits of Vitamin D. And even when they demonstrate the amazing benefits of maintaining higher level of Vitamin D, who's gonna market and sell that information? There's no money in it! The researches are all over the internet but the general public won't know about all the benefits since there's no one running expensive prime-time commercials to sell it!

In the past the emphasis was caffeine was the determining factor but new research disproves this finding. More research is underway but it appears an intrinsic component in coffee found in decaf and regular creates this positive environment. You must consume 3 cups or more daily.
Avatar f tn I have three children and one on the way. All of which I have drank caffinated beverages. My children are fine. They say it can be linked to ADHD, but my oldest has ADHD and my other two DON'T. So who can really say? I think in moderation you will be fine. Shoot, we inhale and consume worse things on a daily basis without even knowing it. Think about it, for year they said nuts were bad for cholesterol and now it has certain health benefits. There are many other products like that.
Avatar f tn Aug 16, 201 Moderate amounts of coffee have been associated with some health benefits, but too much can be deadly, a prospective observational study suggested. Women from ages 20 to 54 who drank more than 28 cups of coffee a week, or an average of more than four cups a day, were more than twice as likely to die from any cause as more moderate coffee drinkers, reported Junxiu Liu, MD, from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and colleagues.
Avatar f tn Ha, you made me laugh. Everything to spontaneous combustion. Yes, it can feel that way when you read the internet. Now, you need to stop scooping your poop. That's an unhealthy obsession. Just go the doctor. They may ask for a stool sample and begin doing other testing but you don't need to be examing your feces regularly like that. Because you have coffee ground substances in your stool, yes. See your doctor. Here's a pretty good, easy to read article. https://www.
