Bit lip after novocaine

Common Questions and Answers about Bit lip after novocaine

lip

Avatar f tn I was prepped for a crown yesterday and by the time I got home noticed my gums looked white in the area I was worked on. My gums in that area aren't smooth, almost like they have been pushed down a bit which I hope is a temporary thing. I think it's because the area is sore and irritated. I had some minor bleeding as well when I rinsed my mouth which stopped soon after. Then out of nowehere I felt the area at the top of my top lip and bottom lip begin to itch and tingle.
Avatar n tn I went to the dentist on Tuesday and i had a filling done. I had the usually novocaine or whatever it is to numb the right side of my mouth. I never felt any pain from my tongue when the dentist did it like some people say they do, but i still do have a slight tingling sensation on the right side of my tongue. The tip of the tongue and the left side however is normal, and the numbing feeling of the right cheek and right part of the lip went the same day i had the dental work.
Avatar n tn thank you very much i'm feeling a bit better today is the 5th day nd my lip is not very swollen it's moved on over t my cheek but better thank you i will try the rinsing .
Avatar m tn It was about 9 hours ago. Immediately after the injury there was a lot of blood coming from my nose. I went to the emergency room at a nearby hospital and they just gave me an ice pack. What I didn't notice at the time was that the side of my face that got hit was numb at some parts. I can not really feel the right half of my lips and some of the teeth there (when brushing). My cheeks seem okay, a little numb too. I also have a black eye now (the blood has pooled I guess).
Avatar n tn Since then I had gum treatments and recently a filling on another front tooth. The filling was done without Novocaine and she filed the tooth down to fill a gap. Since this was done, I have had a off and on some numbness. The past weekend I had a cluster headache on the right side of my head. I had taken a nap and woke up with all of my teeth hurting. Sunday, my top and bottom lip on the left side was numb and I had a nervous twitch in my left cheek near my bottom lip.
Avatar n tn The “intense” burning lasted 3 days but has continued to feel tingly for the last 2 months (both lips, sensation moves around – kind of like novocaine is wearing off) Went to doctors (three of them, no tests or diagnosis) By July 22nd Low grade fever set in and sore neck. Dermatology gave me desonide ointment .05% to no help and ran a CBC that was normal. July 26th I went on Acyclovair to see if it would help but did not.
Avatar n tn By night half my lip was numb all most like when Novocaine is about to ware off. This morning when I woke the numbness was still there and is spreading to my right cheek bone and right nostril. The gums around my teeth are all so losing sensation. All so have a nice headache going on. I have all ways had a tendency of grinding and clenching my teeth at night to the point of waking up very sore. Was wondering if clenching at night could be causing this?
1399363 tn?1462342610 But since yesterday after i went home from the doctor untill now my heart problem feels getting worse. I wonder if where is the problem because i have never gotten worse like this before for no reason. And before that i was constantly in the same condition as weeks and months ago. I wonder if there is some side effect from it, maybe the drug (during the process or maybe the filling) or something else.
Avatar m tn Feeling came back to all but 3 of my teeth. Above them the lip and nostril were numb - like when novocaine is starting to wear off. The dentist said that the nerve could have been severed and i may not regain feeling. But over the last week i have got back about half the feeling which makes it all much more tolerable. Im hoping it will continue to improve although im told nerve injuries can take up to a year to heal. Hope this helps and im sorry for your injuries.
Avatar n tn The dentist said there was no new decay under the old filling. After the Novocaine wore off, I had considerable pain where the shots had been given, mostly it seemed in my jaw near my ear. That went away after a couple days. I had mild discomfort in the tooth where the work had been done, but no big deal. Now I have mild to severe pain in my inner ear and the effected tooth is more sensitive than ever to heat, cold and food in general.
Avatar m tn As for my current problems. On August 19th at just after midnight, my lower right lip went numb, as though i had just received Novocaine. 30 minutes later, my whole lower lip was numb and within an hour it spread to my whole mouth, excluding my tongue. When i awoke the next morning, i felt like i had received Novocaine an hour ago and part of my face, both left and right sides, had lost the sense of touch.
199980 tn?1233797404 It is now 24 hours later and I cant feel the left side of my face. the feeling in my lip and left side of my tounge has returned but nothing on the left cheek all the way up to the ear. sound familuar to anyone??
Avatar n tn Well, I don't know, they've always called it novocaine in front of me. In fact, I've had discussions with them about the "novocaine" and the effects of the epinephrine in it. I looked it up and according to google results "novocaine" is still regularly used. That included my "surgeries" in which I was fully awake, and just numbed.
Avatar m tn My thought is of novocaine. If by chance hiv infected blood got into a vial of novocaine could it be passed to the next patient if a clean needle was used? Would novocaine kill the hiv on contact? Is the vial air tight keeping the hiv alive or does the liquid dilute it?
Avatar m tn I'm sorry you're having dental problems. I'm with you - I absolutely HATE the dentist - I'm petrified of them. I do know that many dentists nowadays offer what is called "sedation dentistry". They usually give you a combination of, or similar to, what Quattro has suggested - valium and nitrous. This will allow you to be comfortable and less anxious about being in the dental chair.
Avatar m tn Was undergoing a minor surgical procedure that required novocaine injections on the foot to numb the area. While waiting for the area to numb, I had to keep my foot hanging off of the chair. After a bit of waiting, I noticed that there was some blood, semi-dried, on the chair's side around where my foot was hanging. I am not sure if the blood was mine, as I did have an open wound (the injections caused some blood), or if it was another patient's.
Avatar n tn I had an accident 20 years ago, fell and bit through my lip. I had a couple of stitches at the time and after, developped a large hard lump on my lip. I had it "removed" 8 years ago but there was still some bump left. So 3 weeks ago, I decided to do it again and for the last time. It looks flat in front of my lip and this is good BUT there is a lot of hard tissue inside the lip and some hard swelling in the inner lip. I can not even smile for real, it is so stiff.
Avatar m tn I highly recommend it for the anxiety that dental work often causes. If you feel confident with just novocaine, adding a little bit of NO will only make it so much easier. Please give it a try. I don't think you will regret it. My best to you and let us know how you do. We love a success story!
Avatar n tn I think I have decided to let all my teeth rot out of my head before I go through this again. For the last 4 yrs, every single time I have dental work done and get a novocaine injection I get the worst bout of feeling AWFUL that lasts for weeks. The first time was over a root canal. Had sinus infection that left me taking antibotics for 6 weeks and I was dizzy and unbalanced most of the 6 weeks.
Avatar m tn Over the next few days that cut disappeared but my upper lip still felt a bit painful and swollen in the middle where the veins are. Yesterday the middle of my upper lip swelled a bit but today it is back to normal. This morning I awoke to find a "pimple" under my tongue on the right side of my saliva gland at the base of my tongue. It is on the bottom / side of my tongue not the bony part of my lower mouth. The area is red and swollen and more lightly colored in the middle.
Avatar f tn The only thing that the oral surgeon say was a slight indentation in my jaw under that tooth that could have come from the novocaine injection. I had told the oral surgeon that the dentist that did the first root canal could not get me numb, unusual because I have had root canals and fillings, etc. before and never had a problem gatting numb. Anyway, he did something I have never had before which was injected into my jawbone with the novocaine.
Avatar n tn So a few years ago tooth #10 had to have a root canal (the one between the front tooth and the canine) and after i had it done, an abscess formed on the gum above the tooth and I had to go back in (don't know if they redid the root canal; do they do that to fix an abscess?) in any case, it hurt a lot for a long time after the root canal, but eventually it calmed down. A few months ago, the tooth started hurting again.
1345326 tn?1276449602 My dentist (he was an oral surgeon - I suggest you go to one) gave me novocaine (yes, that hurts a bit) and I used nitrous oxide. The extractions and implants were placed so quickly it was over before I knew it. I felt NO pain at all. I had already had a removable metal partial with four teeth made prior to the extractions so I used that immediately. Not once was I without teeth! It fit fine, and I went home. I even ate mashed potatoes with gravy that night.
Avatar f tn No only local anesthesia is allowed (novocaine shot) so you might wanna wait til after you deliver :/
Avatar f tn yes your dentist should replace it. if he doesnt need to drill you wont need more novocaine. it depends on why the filling came out.
