Avatar m tn The therapist is very familiar with panic and anxiety disorders and he really knew not only how to talk to me, but how to sort of herd my anxiety and displace it before it took over. Needless to say, addressing some of the "triggers" in my life were building up my anxiety levels.
Avatar m tn I wouldn't say that vitamin deficiencies cause mental disturbances, I don't know what exactly causes them, I believe in the biopsychosocial model to describe most of human behaviour--combo of biological, psychological and social factors... But vitamin and mineral deficiencies definitely contribute to mental problems and there is a lot of evidence suggesting that poor nutrition is a culprit to many mental illnesses. I'm glad you are telling people about Hoffer's research!

627816 tn?1349241716 This is a new field without a lot of good data yet, but there is evidence to suggest that these anxiety symptoms and disorders are not just related to having autism or just because the individuals with autism spectrum disorders are vulnerable to bullying, teasing, etc., but these symptoms develop much in the same way anxiety develops in the general population — as a result of environmental, biological factors.
3455166 tn?1347510733 This is why CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy is SO helpful for people with anxiety disorders, because it tackles that cycle of thinking...helping us to learn how to interrupt those thoughts. Avatar m tn the self-gratification in and of itself is neither the cause of nor caused by anxiety, is my bet. But fondling the crown jewels so often AND conditions of high anxiety/panic may have a "common ancestor" as it were. Address that common factor (or syndrome) and you and your Johnson will probably get a litttle rest. A psychiatric evaluation will probably help you get a grip on the situation, so to speak.

Please continue to seek help. I now take Zoloft and spirotalactin (sp) and it has helped me so much. Good luck.
Avatar m tn There is no magic or mystery of why I feel like this and why lots of other people have anxiety issues after a night of less than healthy drinking. It is the plain and simple fact that my drinking habits are starting to take a toll on my physical and mental health. And that is something that I don't want to live with. I want to be healthy and happy. I want to know deep-down that I am going to have a fulfilling life and that nothing bad is going to happen to me that could have been prevented.
Avatar f tn BTW, that jitteryness and need to move around feeling is part of [biological] anxiety. You can get it with situational anxity too, but if you have it when you're not actively worrying about something or from meds, that's biological. There is a specific medical term for that specific feeling, but it mostly goes with anxiety. I get it when I'm hypomanic or hyperthyroid (I also have auto-immune hypothyroidsim/Hashimoto's). SSRIs can do this.
Avatar m tn Any feeling of detachment from reality should be taken very seriously, and is a side effect of many disorders, some of the quite fatal. I would not waste time making an appointment for a complete physical, and I would take exactly what you have written above to your Doc to read. From there, the Docs professional ability and end experience at "observations" may lead to a quick answer/treatment.
Avatar n tn your guess is as good as mine, but my bet is that this is one (of several) of the keys to why depression, addiction, character defects, personality disorders and so forth are so prevalent, and also as to why (by virtue of cumulative oxidative damage to neurons) these problems are so darned *persistent*. It might also be one of the causes of declining intelligence and general competence.

It is chronic anxiety, so there is not one thing that does not cause me extreme anxiety. As opposed to the one incident you describe, I experience this all day every day. I even get the "brain/stutter lockup" when I speak to my family! Needless to say, it is affecting my personal and professional life. Because of this conditions, I have low self esteem.

1701959 tn?1488555141 You can think on this so much I think it makes it worse because of the anxiety it causes which for sure isn't good for the heart. If it turns into something more, I'll address it then. Until then, I'm trying to eat healthy, take my supplements, and trying to get back to exercising. Life is just too darn short to let these interfer with your quality of life. Best wishes.

Besides, you may have one or more comorbid conditions (conditions occurring at the same time) like Arthritis, Sjogrens, Irritable Bowel-constipation, GERD, Migraine, Hormone irregularities, Depression, etc. 3) You want a doc who is interested in you.
Avatar m tn Abstract Objective The singular phenomenon of switching from depression to its opposite state of mania or hypomania, and vice versa, distinguishes bipolar disorder (BPD) from all other psychiatric disorders. Despite the fact that it is a core aspect of the clinical presentation of BPD, the neurobiology of the switch process is still poorly understood.
