hormone

Avatar f tn My oncologist said he will wait a YEAR to start hormone treatment. I told him I only want to be put on bioidentical therapy. He said "no estrogen is a good estrogen" so I am confused. I feel a year is much too long to wait. I have hot flashes all day. am jumpy and nervous and feel like I weigh 1000 pounds. What should I do now? I am 74 and only have social security and my medical insurance. I know there must be an answer somewhere.
Avatar f tn I have been on bioidentical hormone therapy for several years: estrogel 0.06% 2 pumps once daily and prometrium 200 mg. daily. My main symptoms for seeking treatment were severe hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia. These symptoms have subsided since being on hormone replacement therapy. I do not have access to individual dosage evaluation and preparation of these hormones. I know that it is best to take the lowest dosage that gives me relief of my symptoms to decrease my risks of cancer.
Avatar f tn I agree with naturopath or bioidentical hormone specialist. They can help you thru this time without synthetic drugs.
Avatar f tn It is a form of HRT....Hormone Replacement Therapy....there are those that believe that bioidentical is better for you then synthenic hormones....personal choice.
718868 tn?1230730029 I too am on the vivelle dot patch, I change mine every 2 days and also take estradiol one tab at bedtime. I am like a new person. I think they have finally gotten my hormone replacement right. I must say that premarin is one of the older, not so good hormone replacement products available. There are so many new and safer bioidentical hormones on the market like the vivelle. I would go back to my doc, get your hormone levels checked and demand to be put on one of the safer replacements.
2121656 tn?1395674749 Also, if I could get some feedback on what my friends here think about such. Also, after reading the difference of being treated with pharmaceutial hormone replacement therapy vs. bio-idenitical hormone replacement therapy. I'm seriously thinking of going with the latter of the two. Is anyone receiving bio-idenitical hormone replacement? if so, is it working. Thank you for your feedback.
Avatar f tn On September 29, 2009 I had a complete hystorectomy with a 10lb adnexal mass removed at MD Anderson. An intestinal type cancer of low malignant potential was found. I am waiting to be sceduled for an MRI & Colonoscopy. After my surgery I was prescribed Effexor for my mood swings and hot flashes. The doctor has continued to increase the dosage up to the highest = 150 mg per day. All it has done for me is turn me into a zombie.
Avatar m tn In January of 2008 the FDA sent warnings to a number of large compounders of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) products, expressing concern about these manufacturers' claims about the safety, effectiveness, and superiority of their products. I agree with zouzi, that you should have an in-depth discussion with your physicians about the risks and benefits of this treatment.
Avatar f tn also explains why some birth control pills are more helpful than others.. but also suggests using the bioidentical route for hormone replacement (which it sounds like you are doing anyway). I don't know anything about the spray... I do love my patch. Hysterectomy in 2000. Take care and I hope you start to feel better soon. Try to pick up the book.. ordering may be the only way though since it is an older book..
Avatar f tn I highly recommend you checking with your doctor about getting on some form of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. You will feel better. Check out Dr. Schwarzbein's website. She is an endocronologist and deals with hormones. She is coming out with a book on Menopause.
Avatar n tn I have never tried natural hormones or synthetic hormones, and I'm going through menopause now. I experience extreme irritability, but not anxiety in particular. Because of the potential side-effects of any hormone "bioidentical" or otherwise I choose to just take the natural route. I know that physicians would disagree with my choice, but for me personally, I just think that when the body says "I'm on a new journey" we should listen to what our bodies say.
621426 tn?1221537052 I have a similar concern which is whether taking hormones will increase my chance of cancer since I am already at risk? Where should I draw the line with hormone replacement? Is bioidentical "ok"? What have you found out? I had a doctor even tell me I shouldn't eat protein bars or any soy based source of protein because of the phyto-estrogens in it.
Avatar f tn The thing is, these studies are on post menopausal women. I can see where taking a replacement hormone when your body should naturally not be making this hormone anymore could be bad and I wouldn't do it. But what about the people who were thrown into surgical menopause at a time their body would still be producing it?
1139187 tn?1355706647 i honestly would say get off that stuff and try natural progesterone( i am on it myself and libido has gone through the roof also energy levels have gone up too i had very low thyroid they tried to put me on hormone replacement i put myself onto natural progesterone and solved it. its only £17 in the uk and i think you can get it cheaper in the us. your body turns progesterone into testosterone.
Avatar f tn We would recommend against any form of hormone replacement therapy in women with hormone receptor positive cancer. Bioidentical or synthetic, it is still hormone therapy. In fact, the purpose of arimidex is to remove any estrogen that may be produced outside the ovaries. Research has shown that this significantly reduces the risk of recurrence.
Avatar f tn Well I havent gone through menopause yet, but I did see a womens health doctor and she tested all my hormone levels and said I was in pre menopause, I was only 31 at the time, she wanted to start me on hormone replacement therapy, she said it would help with my anxiety so much, I didnt want to start HRT at such a young age, and you always hear about women that get cancer with hormone Replacement so I was scared as well. So here I am still dealing with anxiety.
Avatar f tn I do notice if I eat something sweet it is worse. I would ask about bioidentical hormone replacement, I was brushed off when I asked, but now I wonder if the sythetic is not dangerous. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn ve started bioidentical hormone replacement (much safer and without the side effects of the chemically created hormones) and am for the first time in two years hopeful that the mess with my eyelids is ending. Just make sure that testosterone is part of the regime (not just progesterone and estrogen, as increased estrogen without it will actually make the problem worse). Testosterone levels are directly linked to a keeping your meibomian glands functioning properly.
Avatar f tn Night sweats are a common occurrence in hormonal imbalance. This can be corrected by hormone replacement therapy. It can also be due to severe acidity with H pylori infection and gastric reflux, hypoglycemia, carcinoid syndromes, hyperthyroidism, and sleep disorders. Other causes include AIDS, cancer, infections in the body and side effect of certain drugs. At times cause cannot be found out. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps.
