Avatar f tn You are not alone. Personally, I do not binge without purging, but binge-eating disorder is actually the most common of all eating disorders. Are you still in therapy of any kind? What about OA? Do you still go? Are you able to identify why you binge? It's not about the food you know? There is something deeper going on. Have you thought about that much?

It has become a habit and I can't stop, I am losing weight but I have never eaten large amounts like binge eating. I eat so I can't be anorexic and I don't binge eat so I can't be bulimic. Avatar n tn Take a deep breath. Only you can change your eating habits, therefore changing your weight, if it does happen to be something you'd like to change. If you try to eat more raw vegetables/fruit, at least 1/3 of your daily food coming from raw fruits and veggies, you will see an enormous improvement. Every time you want to binge, its okay, just eat an apple and some celery first, that way you can't binge as much, and try to keep your binges healthy.
Avatar f tn Check out a previous article of mine about tips on eating healthy for those recovering from an eating disorder. Once you start eating again, without purging, you may experience some bloating and discomfort. I listed some foods that may help with this process. As always, my disclaimer is: I am not a medical professional. I speak from experience and what I found worked for me. I post these tips and suggestions as guidelines only.
Avatar n tn I think it is fairly common to transition into binge eating. It doesn't sound like you're purging yet so thats good. this same thing happened to me. I was anorexic for about a yr and once I started binging and purging, that lasted about 5 yrs. Try to change these behaviors before you start purging because it sounds like you're on your way to that and I can tell you that bulimia causes serious long-term damage. At least you admit that you're at a healthy weight.

6811971 tn?1385557755 I learned to plan on eating healthy foods that I knew there would be no point in purging. This is a healthy step towards stopping the vicious cycle. Avatar f tn I was looking up on the internet and believe that I have purging disorder - where I do not need to binge to purge, i purge almost whenever I eat something I feel will make a significant difference. Still not sure if this is what I have, but it sounds the most like me. I have gone through stages of eating very little to nothing also. I am desperately scared of gaining weight, and am currently trying to lose it.
16335396 tn?1461333696 After college and having 2 babies I gained a lot of weight. I started purging when my second child was 2 years old. I lost 75 lbs between purging and exercise. But I suffered a miscarriage 2 1/2 years into it. It was a wake-up call to me. That was almost 17 years ago. I have gained back 30. Of the 75 lbs but was healthy fit and active. 2 years ago I fell and suffered a back injury. This affected my workouts.
Avatar n tn Hello, I'm 18 years old and within the past month I have been eating large amounts of food and then making myself throw it all up. About a year ago was the first time i started this behaviour which carried on for about 4 months, but i managed to stop and eat healthy and exercise. Now i am back at university which has brought a lot of stress and less time to exercise and so i've started again. Also in the week that has just been, i have been skipping meals.
Avatar f tn binge eating or purging is never a good thing to do...once or twice a month doesn't qualify as bulimia however you are setting your self up with some bad habits that could lead to it down the road... do you find your self doing it more when you get stressed or if someone makes a comment about your weight???

Avatar f tn I have had an ED since I was 13. Started out, I would say as anorexia, then went into bulimia when I heard about the idea of getting to eat and not gain weight if you throw it up. The bulimia started as normal eating, if not enough eating and throwing up. I have done everything to hide it including throwing up in bags and hiding it so that there would be no evidence in the bathroom. Sounds gross!
