Avatar f tn I'm a 55 Y/O female who has been binge eating for about 20 years. I've been to every kind of therapy, even went to a psychiatrist who specializes in eating disorders, gave me an RX ( don't remember the name) I've gained and lost 50LBS 3 times, this time I gained 60LBS and can't loose the last 25. I can't control my eating no matter what I do. I've also been to OA and I didn't like it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Is there anything that can help limit or prevent binge eating before and during a woman's menstrual cycle? This isn't strictly an emotional eating issue is it? My oncologist said to stay clear of hormonal therapies. I'm rather ignorant about all this woman stuff but I think it may be affecting weight loss and ultimately my ability to live a healthy life. It is only one aspect out of many though. Although it feels like it could be quite a significant one.
877379 tn?1259664623 I feel like since my main problem is now binging, that I cant have an eating disorder because binge eating disorder is not ok for me to have. I feel like I would be a failure if I was diagnosed as that. I dont think she will stop eating junk food and food always seems to be around when we hang out. any ideas for any activity we could do that is "food free"? isnt there sugar in almost everything? I would love to be able to just eat a little and then stop.
Avatar n tn ve been struggling with medical therapies as well as binge eating disorder but I also shuffle to bed after anorexia. I'm 16 and I'm afraid this is just the beginning.
Avatar f tn I've always suffered from binge eating. 3 months ago I tried Meridia, and it was wonderful. I do not like to take medicines...therefore I stopped taking Meridia, but sometimes I take one for a few days when I believe I'm eating too much....but as soon as i stop taking it, I go back to the same old habits. Do you know of something similar that I can take w/o the same side effects...
1396756 tn?1283523477 Often binge eating is an emotional thing, we find confort in food. You hear people talk about their "comfort foods" these are things they eat when upset or sad. The Paxil IS helping you and this is why you no longer have to eat to feel better....good for you! One thing to help lose the weight is to eat every 3-4 hours, healthy snacks. Fresh fruit, handful of nuts, yogurt, chicken, vegetables, and exercise. Eating every few hours keeps your metabolism at it's peak.
Avatar f tn Try taking a 15 minute brisk walk before eating, then again about 30 minutes after eating. 5. Journal everything! What food you bought, what you drank, ate, did for exercise. By doing this, maybe you can see when youre most likely to binge eat. I'm telling you, it isn't easy... but it is doable. Track everything, journal it. If you have to have a snack, eat the healthiest, low carb thing available.
Avatar f tn Binge eating after dinner please help I always do really well then after dinner I blow it and I know ive gotta get rid of this problem to loose the weight I want.
Avatar f tn I have never had anorexia but a good friend of mine did and she went through the same problem of becoming a binge eater after recovering from anorexia. One thing I want you to remember is that both anorexia and binge eating are eating disorders. One is not better then the other and both can take a toll on your health. Your weight seems to actually be pretty healthy for your height but if you are unhappy because your weight gain is not through healthy ways, I can understand your concern.
Avatar n tn I'm a 20-year old college student, and I have an out-of-control binge eating disorder. These last few months have been a rollercoaster. It's like a broken record... Monday through Friday, I'll be exercising vigorously and severely restricting calories because of binge-eating on the weekends. Come Friday, I'll have a slice of pizza or two, then it all goes downhill from there. WITHIN TWO HOURS, I will have 3 bowls of cereal, a bag of trail mix, two p.b.

Avatar f tn Is anyone familiar with binge eating disorder? I have been struggling with what I believe is binge eating disorder. It has gotten out of control and I am at a loss as to how to stop it. I have gained a horrible amount of weight and am miserable. I just want to regain control and able to cope in a healthy way...
Avatar f tn The best thing to do is not have junk food in the house, if you can't stop with eating a single portion. Replace the chips, cookies, etc with fresh cut up veggies, such as carrots, celery, radishes, broccoli, or cauliflower. You'll get the same crunch, but you'll get nutrition instead of the fat and empty calories. If you need the salt, sprinkle on just a tad of sea salt to add a bit of flavor.
136956 tn?1688675680 I am a recovering Bulimic. I am having a really really hard time to stop binge eating. I dont purge anymore but all i think about is food. I cant stop thinking about it. I crave salty food the most and I will pretty much just keep eating until I feel sick then the guilt sets in. I just cant understand why I cant stop. I dont want to do it. I have estrogen dominance and I am not sure if this is a low adrenal thing but I need to stop. Does anyone feel this way?
Avatar m tn It's stomach pain. I used to think it was hunger and would eat to stop the hunger pain but that's not it. It's not hunger pain. Once I realized that it, became just pain, not hunger. The desire to eat is completely gone. But the pain is still there. I know it's not hunger now and at least over eating is solved. I've searched this on the gastro forum and almost exactly as I described many others worded it so very similar I thought it was my posts.
6811971 tn?1385557755 This belief will help you break the cycle of ridding the food which leaves you feeling empty and wanting to binge again. Another thing that helped me was. -If I had to binge, I binged on muesli which is high in carbs, however consider RABBIT FOOD by most. There is no point of purging such food out. Thank you for your help ExPat2013. I hope others will read this post too!
612101 tn?1220772860 I have suffered from binge eating since I was 20 yrs old. I am now 36. For the last 15 yrs I have been on many many anti depressants, diets, diet pills etc. I have had pretty much binge free the last 2 years while I was on Effexor and Wellbutrin. I came into money problems and had to taper off them. I had totally forgot about my eating disoder....well....I think I thought I grew out of it finally. Since I have been off my pills in the last few months I hve started binge eating again.
Avatar f tn When I drink even a moderate amount I do not binge and purge. Also, I always get the urge to binge and purge during the evening. I am thinking of going to a professional but I really want to do this by myself, I was wondering if this could be due to a chemical imbalance?? I have always had problems with depression as a child and was anorexic for sometime as an adolescent until I discovered bulimia.
Avatar f tn s why I sometimes throw up my food sometimes use laxatives sometimes starve/restrict and binge eat.Eating disorder? No I don't think so. I've been in this cycle for 6 years sick on and off and I've never had any hospitalizations dramatic weight gain or loss.. and I don't think it's an eating disorder because Noone has all the eating disorders at once?
Avatar f tn I also recommend watching the binge eating disorder video on YouTube from the channel breelovesbeauty .... I suffered from bed and these things helped me a lot.
8793709 tn?1409594060 every day I give in to some kind of unhealthy eating binge. my problem is that when I open a pack of biscuits, chocolates or anything the like, I can't stop until I've finished eating the entire pack ... that can be anything between 500 - 1000 calories. after that I feel so guilty. and yet it happens all the time. You ladies experienced the same? what do you do in such situations?
Avatar n tn What kind of physical consequences are there to binge eating. I had this for years, overeating really fast and way too much. In the recent past I got on a medication and stopped. But now I have bad acid reflux, what feels like a tear in my intestines and an ulcer in my stomach and a gallbladder that is going downhill. I never knew what it meant to be full because I would alot of times eat past that.
Avatar n tn I continued to do this 4 to 5 times a week for almost two months. And now I just stopped. I logically know that it is unhealthy to have this binge-purge cycle, but does it mean I am or was bulimic? I feel like at times I have tendencies towards disordered eating because I grew up in a household obsessed with looks and perfection. I hate feeling like a failure because I can never stick with anything, even if it is 'bad' or unhealthy. I don't know what to do?
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any good tips on how to stop binge eating? I often find myself hiding snacks around the house and when I eat, I eat everything I possibly can and I feel sick afterwards. Thanks a bunch!
Avatar f tn I'm a 56 y/o female who has had a problem with binge eating since I was about 30. I can gain 20 lbs in a month no problem. Sometimes I can't stop eating, and when I'm too full to eat anymore, I can't wait to digest so I can eat more. I've been to psychiatrist's that specialize in eating disorders, OA, read every book I could find, went to counseling for years and years, and have been on every diet there is.
