Avatar n tn Excerpt from DoubleCheckMD - Latisse (bimatoprost topical ophthalmic)... "Latisse may cause color change in the sclera (tough, outer covering of the eye). Concurrent administration of bimatoprost topical ophthalmic solution (LATISSE) and IOP-lowering prostaglandin analogs in ocular hypertensive patients may decrease the IOP-lowering effect. Patients using these products concomitantly should be closely monitored for changes to their intraocular pressure.
12845664 tn?1427483649 I am using Lumigan (bimatoprost) 0.01% nightly. Cost under my Medicare coverage is pretty high (deductible plus copay). Bimatoprost 0.03% is now available as a generic. What potential problems am I inviting by asking my ophthalmologist to switch prescriptions and start using the 0.03%?
Avatar m tn There is two different brands that say they have the same effect as Latisse but they cost much less than Latisse. They are Lumigan, and Bimatoprost. My question is do they actually have the same effect like Latisse? what is the diffrence??
Avatar f tn cosopt has timolol in it so you shouldn't be taking timolol and cosopt. Roklatan works different than cosopt so they are used in combination but again NOT with timolol.
Avatar f tn Feeling no improvement I changed the doctor and visit another one...That day my eye pressure was 30,30 in both eyes...all other things were normal..Timolol was prescribed to me and 2 days after that pressure come down to 16,14....Visual Test is normal...OCT is normal...with some thinning in right eye...But eye pressure is increasing slowly...from 16,14 to 18,15 to 19,22 in 1.5 months...
Avatar f tn He prescibed artificial tears as well as Timolol. A month down the line and no change at all. Please can you tell me a bit more about Timolol, as it does seem to have a lot of serious heart related side effects, and what more can I do to rectify this problem? What should have been a routine simple procedure has caused a great deal of discomfort and anxiety. Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn He started me on tobradex ST ( steroid drops) and Timolol Maleate. Then I used thera tears and systane during the day and the night time gel. As of last Friday I was doing fine, then my vision became blurry again and my left eye is like half open. ( looks like a lazy eye) never had it before. He says my inplants look great. yesterday i saw him my right eye had raised pressure to 26.5 he took me off the steroid drops left me on the timolol -glaucoma drops.
Avatar m tn Timolol does not work at night, probably due to the prone position for sleep. So best to take first thing in AM and with/shortly after your evening meal. Some drops work great at night like latanaprost and are given at bedtime.
212161 tn?1599427282 You might want to ask your doctor if it might be possible to substitute a selective beta-blocker, for example Toprol® (metoprolol) for the Timolol®. Non-selective blockers, such as Timolol®, can worsen asthma, even asthma that has not been clinically evident in the past. Your doctor has prescribed good medicine for your asthma. The course of asthma is very unpredictable, so it is not possible to predict whether it will resolve or will become chronically, clinically significant.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes and prescribed eye drops to take 3x daily for the rest of my life. These eye drops are 1) Latanoprost and 2) Dorzolamide/timolol. A few weeks after taking these eye drops I notice a large rise in blood pressure (top and bottom numbers)..with my bottom number around 100. Can this be caused by the eye drop medicine?
Avatar m tn l take both beta blocker eye drops timolol and blood pressure medication daily for past ten years . l was recently diagnosed with cataracts .
Avatar f tn He is 40 yrs old and obviously very concerned. he has been on travatan timolol, xalatan to name just a few but they have now put him back on xalacom. Have you any suggestions as to what to do next- l have heard from a friend that there are oral tablets available.
212161 tn?1599427282 ive been on timolol for 20 years its a beta blocker never had asthmas now reading where it can cause the Bronchospasm and its really scareing me . will that cause death? never had asthma now am having it plus short of breath now and than. really scareying me i go see a asthma dr in the moring but wanted to know if anyone been where i am .
Avatar f tn There should be significant visual recovery after a week and by one month it should be pretty well healed. My doctors do not like to use latanoprost after cataract surgery because it may increase the incidence of CME (macular edema). Dr. O.
Avatar f tn You need to call your personal physician and relay this episode right now. Also if you have glaucoma and you are on a beta blocker eye drop like Timolol this can be a side effect . Beta Blocker eye drops cause slow pulse, low blood pressure, and passing out on standing up in some people. If you are on beta blocker you likely need to go off and use another medication.
Avatar m tn my pressures were under control with Timolol GFS up until the last 6 months- now they are slightly elevated 25-29 so they changed to Dorzolamide HCI Timolol Maleate- since the change my sugar has bottomed twice under 70 my BP has been near 150-85 and my eyes are dry and burning all the time so bad I get sick from headaches- well actually I quit taking the new drops 3 days ago and everything seems to be good every time I check now and no headaches - both drops say Timolol whats the differe
Avatar n tn The Dr said I have bulging eyes which no one in 70 years has ever mentioned. The Dr said I have excess pressure in the eyes. He R/x Timolol Maleate and Tobramycin Dexamethasone along with Minocycline which caused extreme abdominal pain, diarrhea within days of beginning the regiment. Also I was told to get a CT scan to see if I have a Thyroid condition .
Avatar m tn l have been taking azarga eye drops with timolol for ten years , l read an article on the internet where someone said they thought beta blocker eye drops like timolol can increase the risk of cataracts, something to do with the lens getting less oxygen because it getting less water. l asked my GP and he said timolol cannot cause cataracts or make it worse, do you agree?
Avatar f tn - My astigmatism (only my left eye) is for sure not corneal, must it then be lenticular? Or can it also be explained for example by the deformation of the back of my eye (ie start of staphyloma)? When my pupils are dilated, the astigmatism in my left eye gets way worse, while my right eye keeps its sharp vision (this once used to be the case for my left eye as well). Also does the exact 90deg, "against the rule", perhaps give a clue?
17644146 tn?1458782868 I wonder if anyone else is using Dorzolamide Timolol (Actavis) 2 x a day for their glaucoma? If so, have you noticed the 10ml bottle never seems to last 45 days?
Avatar m tn Dear Sir, please tell me can putting Iotim 0.5% w/v (Timolol Maleate eye drops 0.5% w/v) cause Posterior Vitreous Detachment (PVD) in some people? Thank You Very Much in advance.
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to have the other eye done next month and after researching it appears the Timolol could be used instead and I would not have to be worried about eye color. I do not have asthma etc and in fact sometimes I have to take oral beta blocker for an occasional heart problem so I have no issues with beta blockers.
Avatar m tn 8 (20/126) - Treated with Acular, Maxidex, and also Lumigan to keep pressures down - 3 months into treatment my eye pressure spiked at 53mmHg but was brought back down with Timolol, Iopidine, Diamox, and by stopping the Maxidex (steroid). Pressure stable again at 12-14mmHg on average.
Avatar f tn In your own opinion, is this still necessary whenever I feel a discomfort in my eye, like a little pain after some readings that I usually do? I take Timolol drops 2x a day, and Acetazolamide 1 tablet daily, my last dose today. Intraocular pressure has reached normal already.
Avatar f tn Timolol is a beta blocker that is very inexpensive and works well for glaucoma BUT I use it last in my choice of the 4 times of glaucoma drops because of the potential for major side effects. It cannot be used in people with asthma or reactive airway disease, a history of slow heart rate (bradycardia) and can cause many problems like chronic cough, severe loss of energy, chronic nasal congestion (seems like sinus problem that won't go away), very cold extremeties, etc.
