This is currently what i use on my face: Face wash with .5% salicylic acid and another facewash with 3.5% benzoyl peroxide. I MAKE SURE to take really good care of my skin but it dosent seem to work. Also i have a prescription face medication cream called BenzaClin which is 1% clindamycin and 5% Benzoyl peroxide.

Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis (in December 2007) and have recently be suffering with acne on my face (chin/ mouth area). I have been given Acuatim cream to use twice a day, and have been told that I should take oral antibiotics if the cream doesn`t work. Every acne antibiotic I review on the neet suggests that they can cause coltis (pseudomembranous?), so I am concernd as to what oral medication I can take? Any other colitis sufferers out there taking oral acne treatment?

Avatar m tn Hello, Fusidic acid and minocycline are both antibiotics which are used for the treatment of acne. Treatment options include topical and oral antibiotics, topical retinoids, hormonal therapy, dermabrasion , phototherapy and laser resurfacing. Normally a combination of treatments is followed and if nothing proves effective then dermabrasion and laser therapy are useful. You can discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.

Avatar m tn local treatment with azelaic acid, salicylic acid, topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide. Mild papulo-pustular (inflammatory) acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids, topical antibiotics (such as erythromycin). Moderate inflammatory acne: benzoyl peroxide or topical retinoids combined with oral antibiotics (tetracyclines). Isotretinoin is an option.
Avatar n tn Hello, You seem to be having acne vulgaris. Just keep you face clean by washing with a mild soap atleast twice a day. Pat it dry and do not rub it. Avoid picking or pressing the acne. You can also use Benzoyl peroxide 5% lotion or gel once at bedtime. An amount of lotion the size of a pea should be enough to cover most of your face. If your skin becomes red or peels, you are using too much of the medicine or applying it too often.

Avatar f tn Tried all kinds of creams etc. At one point I used a salicylic acid acne treatment on my face and it got Hard - I mean you could tap my cheeks and the skin was hard! I quit the acne wash and switched to a mild soap (dove) and a very light WATER BASED face moisturizer (neutrogena), I still have some folliculitis, but no more crust instead of skin! Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize - drink lots of water etc, etc - AND some folks like me (very fair skinned) have to avoid oil-based products.
Avatar n tn I have got acne and my face is all red, i do not know how to get rid of them. it looks awful, please help.
Avatar m tn I have many embarrassing scars on my face, My question is, is it okay to have laser treatment on my face or microdembrasion or do i suffer the possiblilty of having my acne scars worse than they are now?
Avatar m tn I've been to about two different dermatologist because of my acne, for some reason they become VERY swollen and red. I had to change my doctor, because the first treatment I had a bad reaction to the pills he prescribed. My second dermatologist just prescribed me clindoxyl gel. I've been using it for about more than a year now. I should have stopped by after 3 months into the treatment, however I couldn't, and now I feel silly going into his office after all this time lost.
Avatar f tn t tried any topical or antibiotic prescriptions, and my acne is not severe, they thought accutane would be best as a first measure because it will knock out the acne, which will mean no additional scars. I was not well informed by my dermatologist about what I can expect my scarring to be like during the course of the accutane. She just said that if we stop the acne, we stop the scarring, then several months after we can look into their array of scar treatments.
Avatar n tn Our dermatologist is looking into a bacterial infection, but said she may have precocious acne. I am afraid it will get worse or spread around her face. She is so young and shouldn't be dealing with this at such a young age. Are there any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Now I have persistant and large acne on my cheeks and jawline, including cystic acne. The acne is ever present and not just once a month. My current dermo (not the one who proscribed Accutane) tells me that it's hormonal (I believe this) and that I will just have to deal with it for the rest of my life (I don't want to accept this). She does Cortosone injections on occasion for the cysts because I cannot, for the life of me, leave my face alone.
Avatar m tn You can massage it into your face with upward stroke. However, this may not treat your acne scars. There are creams available both prescription and over the counter which help. However, the depth and size of your scars decide whether creams will help or not. Some will need professional help from a skin specialist. Take care!
