Common Questions and Answers about Best diet hypothyroid

diet

Avatar f tn As for exercise, it can certainly help anyone, but if you are experiencing hypothyroid symptoms, it is best to limit yourself to moderate exercise until you find the right dose of thyroid medicine, lest you exacerbate the underlying hypothyroid symptoms.
Avatar n tn once on a regular routine on medication for hypothyroid, will the weight start to come off?
Avatar f tn m getting more tensed because what exactly is wrong with me. my diet is not that bad to have that low metabolism nd all these symptoms. can anyone plz suggest me what should i do?? I need a suggestion very badly!!
Avatar f tn In the morning my pants fit but by the afternoon it hurts to button them. I was already on a diet and exercise regimen which I lost weight in my legs but nothing in the stomach. I have been on synthroid for 1 week, my endo doesn't think the bloating in my stomach has anything to do with the thyroid. Is he right? This bloating is really getting me down because no matter how much I exercise my stomach just keeps getting bigger. Please someone give me some info on this Thank you.
5583808 tn?1370389431 I just checked my test and my fasting glucose is 5.2 mmol/L (93.6 mg/dl) with pre diabetes and a mere 0.4 mmol/L away from type 2 diabetes. The glucose test is very misleading!
Avatar n tn A good diet for us as a lifetime committment is to look into the Zone diet by Dr Sears and the South Beach plan. The foods listed there are fat burning. If you have not been exercising at all - as ME - A 30 minute work out is best. Walking is good ---- then build up. The more movement the better if you are already in a fitness program.
Avatar f tn Diet and exercise. They're the only "products" that work. You need to eat a lot less than you're eating now and move a lot more than you're moving now. The best part about these "products" is that they're free and you can start this second.
Avatar f tn I have been on ww for over 1 yr and have only lost 7 lbs.. I watch what I eat, and eat what I think is a very healthy diet.. this is so frustrating.. so now here is the question. are there other drugs that I can and should be taking.. I have never seen and Endo, only my internist, would seeing an endo be beneficial for me?
Avatar n tn I saw the thread, someone said they were eliminating foods from their diet to help hypothyroid. Has anyone found themselves with the same problem of food givng them migraines and finding their hormone balance is disturbed and giving them a migraine and sore and siezed muscles constipation and hair loss with the slightest food sensitivity I too have been eliminating things from my diet. I take digestive enzymes and cannot eat soy or wheat.
Avatar n tn hi, with tsh of 120, you are severely hypothyroid. Diet will not help - you need medication. Quite urgently! i hope you are working with your dr on this.
Avatar f tn However I just recently found out my thyroid is not working correctly and that I am actually hypothyroid. Therefore I am now on meds. Has anyone had a similiar problem? Were you able to get pregnant after starting meds? Any insight would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I could be wrong, but I've not heard of high fiber diet being bad for hypothyroid. I do know there are some foods, such as cabbage, broccoli, etc that inhibit the absorption of thyroid meds, but if you avoid those foods, you should be ok. I did a search for foods to avoid and came up with a list. My doctor actually recommended the Mediterranean diet. If I'm wrong, I'm sure some others will let us both know.
Avatar f tn His doctor did a bunch of bloodwork the other day since his growth did not improve with the addition of pediasure to his diet. So far the nurse said all bloodwork looks normal and they are waiting on one more growth hormone test to come back. I asked specifically for his TSH, because I am hypothyroid and I am concerned that he may be as well. My TSH has never been outside my labs "normal" range, but if it's over 2.5 I feel awful. That being said, his TSH is 3.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you are dealing with a bit. Most people feel best when their TSH is around 1 take or give a little. Don't take your thyroid pills with milk and hold off on any vitamins for and hour at least. (check out the thyroid forum) Your thyroid is probably causing a lot of the issues and yes it can get confusing on what is causing what. BP and body temp is good to keep an eye on too. Finding a good doctor is the best start.
12432545 tn?1425304807 It looks like you need to find a different endocrinologist - one who would be willing to look into a pituitary/hypothalamus issue. If the pituitary gland isn't telling the thyroid to produce hormones, it won't... it's that simple and yours doesn't seem to be producing hormones.
1279987 tn?1302174838 Good morning, well, it's morning here. :-) I assume everything checked out at the Vet's office. Did he check thyroid, just in case your dog is hypothyroid? That being said, she should be on a good brand of weight management, adult food. Look for the feeding recommendations on the product to see how much to feed, I assume she probably wouldn't need more then a cup or a cup and a half twice a day. You can try the old dog show people green diet.
Avatar m tn Mary Shomon, a patient advocate has written a book specifically about thyroid and diet, admittedly focused on helping overweight patients drop extra pounds safely without adversely affecting the thyroid.
Avatar f tn Suddenly my weight started creeping up despite my careful diet an exercise regime. I also started to feel very tired again, but my iron levels are normal now. After gaining 5lbs this month and feeling tired and foggy all the time, I had a full thyroid panel. I can't remember all the numbers but my free T4 was "normal" but at the low end, my TSH had jumped to 3.77 and I tested NEGATIVE for thyroid antibodies. The Dr. Told me I was normal and my symptoms are stress induced.
7729616 tn?1393795492 Excuse me, are you saying you have Hashimoto's? Because as far as I know if you do your thyroid is toast. You should be on synthetic thyroid. This is based on you saying you have an autoimmune disorder causing your thyroid to not work, and again, that generally means Hashimoto's and again, I know of no natural treatment for Hashimoto's because it kills the thyroid off. So do you have this, or just a low thyroid? Because there's no diet for Hashimoto's I know of.
