Best antihistamine for bee sting

Common Questions and Answers about Best antihistamine for bee sting

Avatar f tn It could very likely be an infection, or, since he's putting no weight on it at all, it could be broken. Either would account for swelling. I don't actually believe that bee-sting reaction is the most likely diagnosis for this (it wouldn't just swell like that, you'd be seeing respiratory distress, welts and/or the cat would be licking or biting at the site of the sting), but I can't tell more without details. I really think that you should take kitty to the vet ASAP, ok?
665881 tn?1248930597 I have been experiencing these Itchy-bee-sting like sensations all over my body, and when I say all over my body, I don't mean all at the one time, it's more of a periodic type of sensation that just 'pops' up in different places around my body, for example; I just had one on my leg, then 5 seconds later I got one on my stomach, and then my foot. These prickle/stings that I feel do not have any visual symptoms, such as bumps rash, etc.
Avatar n tn You could try some warm compresses at the site, warm saline gargles for his sore throat and some oral antihistamine medications for the swelling. Does he have any other symptoms of fever, etc? If the swelling still persists after a few days, it would be best to consult a doctor for a clinical examination and whether a course of antibiotics is required. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
Avatar f tn Hello, I started feeling an odd stinging sensation on the side of my foot (little toe side). I thought maybe it was a bee sting but nothing was there. The stinging would come and go so I took a closer look and felt a hard lump the size of a dime right on the bone of my foot. I don't know if it has been there all along or is something new. IT is bone hard and does not move. I have feet that are boney with bunions so I didn't know if this was just another aspect of that.
Avatar n tn I really empathize with your situation. Let me tell you what is going on with me, which could have nothing to do with your situation and I certainly wouldn't get really scared reading this or related things on the net until you talk to your doc. Let me start by saying that if you are being sent to a credibly Allergy and Asthma place, you are probably on the right path. I have suffered from severe angioedema most of my life- at least since I was a preteen and I am in my mid thirties now.
Avatar f tn sometimes the lanacaine alone works pretty well but for best results consistently I had to do ALL the steps EXACTLY as I described. My doc said it was a pretty ingenious regimen I came up with and had nothing bad to say about it. ALSO I had been prescribed NEURONTIN - but I much prefer the Doxepin.
Avatar m tn I'm hoping someone on this forum knows a lot more than I do about this subject! For question number one, I would talk to a qualified allergist. Your pharmacist may have some answers as well. Question number 2 is still out of the scope of my "practice," but if a person who suffers from anaphylaxis is on a benzo, IMHO, the use of that med will NOT decrease the likelyhood of an anyaphylatic response.
Avatar n tn One man in particular, a friend of the familiy, had chronic pain in his back for over 30 years and also had diabetes. He did the bee sting therapy for about 6 months and has had no pain since and not one pill. He also has had no sign of diabetes since he has done the bee sting therapy. Please let me know if this helps and if you would like to hear about any other alternatives to pain management.
Avatar n tn Adams injected me with cortisone, which was commonly used to counteract the reaction to a bee or wasp sting. In my case, it almost resulted in my death. Luckily, my regular doctor, Dr. Collins, was notified and rescued me before Dr. Adams could finish his murderous plot!
1460021 tn?1445739558 you're taking the Phenergan for the wrong reason. It's not for sinus or bug bites or allergies. Go buy an antihistamine and get rid of the Phenergan. Jay's right. This is addictive behaviour! Good luck and great job on those 20 days!!
233622 tn?1279338505 Straight up is less abrasive for me and then the sting of the med then wears off. I once thought the sting was fromt the alcohol, but a neuro told me that the med is acidic and that's why it stings sometimes. But, this sting should wear off. When you say backside, (sorry to ask for specifics), exactly where are you doing it? W/these injections it really does matter.... I'll try to explain where I inject on my backside but it's moreso it's those lovehandles.
393986 tn?1303829575 30 on the dot, like clockwork. My neuro recommended an antihistamine for my vertigo. I asked him if benadryl would work, and he said yes. But no matter how much antihistamine I took, the vertigo during the middle of the day was just as bad. Eventually it did go away. It took several months, but the intensity of it subsided, until today I only have a little twinge when I'm fatigued.
Avatar m tn The best saline solution has the ratio 2 grams salt for 98 milliliters of water. This is about 78 grams of salt to the gallon. Do the math, and make it practical, it works out to be 10 teaspoons of salt poured into one gallon of distilled water. Shake it up. Now you have plenty of saline solution, enough to get rid of the toxic schmoo in your nasals and sinuses.
Avatar m tn It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it. The spasm cough causes it all and when it goes away (usually 4 to 5 days) things are relatively normal although a normal cough stays with me for weeks after.
Avatar n tn All other symptoms are consistent (felt like a bee sting, itchy pain for a few minutes, bluish color of swelling, leaves a large dark bruise after swelling desists, etc). I was squeezing a hose nozzle when the 'pop' occurred. I began to think 'what if this happens in my brain?!?' I generally have low BP (90/50). I was diagnosed with Raynaud's as a teenager, but haven't had an episode in years.
Avatar n tn as well as a stinging feeling on skin between upper lip and nose that would sting for about 15 min and result in a red bump which looked like a pimple. About an hour or so later, the bump would disappear. I brought pics to show her. she finally said she didn't know and told me she didn't have any next steps for me so I didn't need a follow-up visit. The only thing for certain the docs have been able to say is that they are not cold sores and are not contagious.
Avatar n tn I was rushed to hospital by ambulance and have been given steroid injections and antihistamine. (which made me sleep for 2 hours) My tongue reduced in size and I was sent home. Consultant said, I was a "wierd" case as they still have no idea what causes it, gave me a new Epipen and sent me on my way. Funnily enough I did take penicillin some time ago, but it had no effect on me at the time. Going back to GP with new problems and see if there is anything new things to try.
Avatar n tn I really think this stinging itch is "sun related" because once the summer heat is gone and fall and winter is here I never have it. I usually starts about in June through August or September. But I just feel going to the Dr. would be a waste of time and money, he would only be guessing just like we are . Mine will not even be bothering me and in the middle of the night, sound asleep, will wake me up stinging, and have to get up and apply ice to get it to stop ...
Avatar f tn ask for the Candida blood test - if that is elevated then demand a stool test as well - which will pinpoint the type of yeast that may be causing your hives! ((just a thought)) p.s. you don't eat Splenda do you? that causes major hives and not a lot of people know about it!
Avatar n tn one thing is for shampoo did absolutely nothing but sting.... i have recently tried something on my own and i may have found a partial solution..... i went out and bought 2 things... eucerin original moisturizing creme and Olay age defying revitalizing eye gel (it's a little tub .5 oz.) You can get both at walgreen's .
Avatar n tn Wow, Like all of you, I have been researching this for hours, days, and years. Mine started three summers ago after severe stress. They sting horribly almost like a bee sting and then turn into what looks like a flea bite. my arms and legs are the worst but I also get them on the stomach and yes they itch like posion ivy. I NEVER GOT ANY ON MY FACE. They go away in the fall and came back the last two summers. I researched this intensely. I was told it was hives but I don't thnk it is.
Avatar n tn First and foremost do not rub, scratch eyes as this will only lead to more irritation, redness and swelling (possibly even an infection). For really itchy eyes i find that for me personally the best thing is to refrain from touching my eyes as much as possible (no matter how itchy - even if it drives me crazy) and to apply a cool compress which seems to help eleviate some of the itching. 2.
496771 tn?1209698358 I have used the Clairol perfect 10 for several years.i have been coloring my hair for close to 30 years and all of a sudden i have reactions to this hair color.itching scalp like crazy! bumps all over my head and behind my lasted for weeks.i didn't realize it was the hair color and used it again. But this time i used a med dark brown instead of a darkest brown. The reaction wasn't as bad but still itched alot.
288415 tn?1231634102 1) he has had success with it before, 2) cream adheres to the skin better than oil and you can appy to the second ear without losing any from the first ear as you might with oil, and 3) oil is best for excesively dry ears whereas in my case I had "weeping", or moist ears due to constant rubbing and scratching. I had to apply a little cream to each ear twice a day using a Q-tip. I am delighted to report that after 4 days the itching had gone from both ears.
Avatar m tn Singulair has not been proven effective as treatment of itchy eyes, itchy nose, sneezing and runny nose. If these symptoms continue to be problems for you, you might want to try an antihistamine, which can be purchased over the counter. There is one other use for Singulair, and that is for people who have excercise induced asthma. According to Health Library at CNN.
Avatar f tn My wife is going through the same thing and I am researching hard to try and find her answer. I wish you all the best. This seems to be a terrible thing for many women. I have compiled a list of advice from many sources in my research -- I'll try and come back and post my list after getting it on my computer. I wish you all the best -- and a good answer to this problem.
Avatar n tn H-E-L-P!!! I've had this uncontrollable itch on my outer labia's for the past 7 years. Everyday I itch, I feel like a freak because I am always scratching (not in public). My labia gets sore from the scratching and I break skin often from scratching. I have tried everthing, but it doesn't go away. I know it's not an STD because I went to the doctor's and have been tested. However they haven't helped me none.
Avatar f tn The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks). You can take non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(Zyrtec) or Loratadine(Claritin) to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(Benadryl) is used at night to get urticaria control.
