I'm on Toprol XL, Cardizem, Benicar along with Lasix for HTN. I have a BUN of 32 (up from 24 a month ago) with a creatinine of 1.2. Can it be medication related? I am not overweight nor do I overuse salt, but am concerned about kidney failture.

s odd that both of these causes a symptom like sinus issues as each works differently. Hydrochlorothiazide is just a water pill that lowers BP by removing fluid from your system which will lower BP. I also think your current meds are a bit much, but I do not have a medical degree like your doctors so I would never second guess him. The ARB's work for me and have the fewest side effects, but everyone is different. I guess I would ask him why he has chosen your current meds.

I have tried many BP medications with some bad results. Thought we finally found one that worked. The doctor gave me Benicar 20mg and it helped (so did losing 20 pounds) but my BP was still borderline. Then he increased the Benicar to 40 mg. I am having some strange issues that I think are from the Benicar. When I awake from sleeping I have trouble opening my left eyelid. Once I am up this goes away.

I have being training for several running races for 5 months. Before going into a preparation for a half marathon training, I went to the cardiologist to do a check up, as I know my BP always was borderline to be considered high. I did Echo, Stress tests and 24h BP measurements. Echo and stress went all right, but BP was slightly high, my mean systolic pressure was 133 and mean diastolic was 83, with the maximum during the test being 148 an 100.

Someone suggested that I consider inner imaging screening (EBT Hart scan). I am on Lipitor and Vytorin, I was taken off of Benicar two months ago because of the back pain and an elevated CPK 200's. Recent blood test revealed my cholesterol at 118 but my CPK at 205 and still experiencing lower back back pain. My blood pressure is 110/70 to 120/80. No prior hart problems. Do you think I should consider this image screening?

I have been on 10mg plus a water pill for 4 months and felt normal, now all the sudden I have this out of breath and heaviness in my chest feeling. My blod pressure did take a dip into to 97/70 but I am pretty sure that's not causing me to feel this way since it also happens when my pressure is higher. I am just getting so frustrated and tired of not feeling well and nobody has any answers!

Since you are already on blood pressure medicine the doctor may try to a different kind or different dose. Is the Benicar the type with a water pill? The prescription would be Benicar HCT as opposed to just Benicar. If you are on the HCT type then you are also on a water pill that may be affecting things. If you are becoming too dehydrated from a water pill it could be contributing to the erratic beats. If so would firstly say try and drink plenty of water.

I'm on Benicar HCT, have been for many years. Benicar is in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!

Years ago, I have prescription for Benicar 20mg (OlmeSartin by Sankyo), but it costed me over $1 per pill per day. A bottle of 100 costs over $100. I was told Potassium Sparing Diuretic is not expensive addition to two others I am taking 1. Diltiazem extended release 240mg 2. Amlodipine 2.5mg Do you agree? Yes, I hate the effect of diuretic going to bathroom often. But I assume Diuretic HCT has the least long term side effect compare to all other blood pressure drugs.

I never had a problem until I had my first baby and a week later my bp was 161/110 2nd baby after a week shot up to 191/110. Took forever to go down and was finally put on Azor 5/40 plus a water pill. I went off because my bp was normal after a year or 2, then one night I had a heavy chest, I took my bp and it was 180/108. What concerns me is my diastolic stays high, in the morning my bp can go down to 120/90, the disatolic remains high. or I get readings of 150/99 to 117/91.

I recently had open heart surgery, 4 bypasses. I was on Benicar 20mg. a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP.

I've recently been having terrible anxiety and one of the changes in my life is that I've started taking Benicar 40mg for high blood pressure. I saw on a post somewhere that benicar can cause this. Has anyone else heard of this?

Both are under total control with medications (Glucotrol XL 10 mg and Metformin 1000 mg 2 times daily, Also Benicar 10 mg and duriatic pill 25 mg ) I never dink nor smoke and I have no evident health problems .

About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?

Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. In the last year I was put on Benicar 20 mg for high blood pressure. In that year I have began to notice PVC's that started occassionally and now are happening everyday all day. They drive me crazy. My blood pressure is under control and I exercise regularly. Could the Benicar cause the PVC's? I have had them checked out with my doctor and they tell me that they are okay and that they are PVC's. They drive insane.

Just curious as to what we take for our supplements. Unfortunately I have a pill box now:) But maybe we could help each other out with this thyroid mess.

My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?

My blood pressure was 120s/60s on sotalol and Benicar. Is this opposite effect (higher instead of lower blood pressure) common with this medication? Thank you.

Just curious, I was started on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 about 3 or 4 years ago at a time when I was at my peak weight, well over 300 pounds, not taking very good care of myself and not exercising. My blood pressure was running around 140/85 at the time. I underwent some cardiac work ups due to some chest pain over that time period including a couple of Nuclear Stress Tests and Echos along with all the blood work that is usually done, all tests were always normal.

The chest pain has returned and the diastolic pressure is 53.I am currently on benicar hct 40/25 and my bp has been 126/53. Should I stop taking the benicar? Not sure what to make of the chest pain.I am a 48 yr. old female other wise in good health.

For persistently high BP ,one has to exclude cardiac problems, kidney problems,hormonal problems, water retention,electrolyte imbalance,the presence of nerve related problems,an underlying systemic medical condition ( increased blood thickness or viscosity, hypercoagulable states). I suggest that you have a complete work up done.

I believe I used this function years ago and got a list of doctors. My doctor who I have now uses Benicar, however does not follow all aspects of the protocol. She says the Benicar helps the antibiotics work better which I guess is the theory behind the Marshall Protocol. You can also try to google "marshall protocol doctors" and see what comes up.

I am going in for gallbladder removal in 4 days and no one has told me to stop taking Benicar HCT beforehand. I'm on a 20/12.5 dose once daily, so it's pretty low, but won't it possibly cause problems with the anaesthesia/barbituates or if they have to give me morphine afterwards (not likely, but possible)?

The chief of staff at UAB, Birmingham, Alabama told me to always drink tons of water when taking Levaquin. I drink 32 oz. of water with every pill, and another 32 oz. during the day. Before this, I took Levaquin and had problems with my joints. I do not have a problem at all when I drink the water. Maybe this will help.

Although I am not cynical when it comes to the medical profession, I know there are drugs of preference from doctor to doctor. I was on Benicar HCT for 4 years before moving and finding a new doctor. One of the first things he did was pull me off Benicar and put me on Lisinopril, a beta blocker. I had a terrible reaction to this drug, I couldn't workout and my heart rate stayed at 50 - 55 BPM.
