755829 tn?1246919225 Hi there, I provide some basic advice on other forums, but am looking for some advice of my own now, I am wondering if there are health benefits in cutting out coffee and replacing it with decafe coffee, some friends say its good others say it's no better?
755829 tn?1246919225 I recommend cutting out all coffee. But if you must drink coffee then yes, I would say that decaff is better than regular coffee. Decaff contains little to no caffeine while regular coffee contains high amounts of caffeine. Caffeine can cause MANY problems. I would name them all but it would take me a very long time. Look at this website for further information on caffeine and the side effects it has. Some you have probably already had and didn't even notice.
Avatar f tn Epidemiologic studies have suggested that there is a cause and effect associated with coffee intake and its benefits on the liver. These findings are supported by the few randomized controlled trials available. In one study comparing patients infected with hepatitis C, those who drank 3 cups of coffee per day or more received the greatest benefit.
Avatar m tn I'm a first timer. My appointment with my doctor isn't until next week. I've had a single cup of coffee for the past few days but now I'm worrying. There is so much conflicting information about caffeine and pregnancy. Thoughts?

Avatar m tn Magnesium benefits? Where should we start? With reduced risk of cognitive decline? Or maybe… * Promotion of strong bones in postmenopausal women * Heart health support * Management of C-reactive protein (a key marker of inflammation) * Maintenance of tooth enamel Clearly, magnesium is a nutrient you don't want to get caught short on. Especially because magnesium has an important type 2 diabetes connection, which in turn has a gallstone connection.
Avatar f tn The newest study just published yesterday suggests that coffee not only benefits your likelyhood of beating this virus, it also decreases the risk of liver cancer and fibrosis. In the past the emphasis was caffeine was the determining factor but new research disproves this finding. More research is underway but it appears an intrinsic component in coffee found in decaf and regular creates this positive environment. You must consume 3 cups or more daily.
Avatar f tn There are a lot of mixed medical opinions out there regarding this so you should do what you feel comfortable with both physically and emotionally...caffeine is tough to kick so if you decide to cut it out of your diet do it slowly by switching to a mix of decaf and regular...I personally gave it up while I was prego but I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks...however I quickly went back to my old habit and it is a b**** to kick it again!

Avatar m tn Coffee consumption is on the rise in the United States and over half of Americans drink it everyday, according to the National Coffee Association. Antioxidants in general have been linked to a number of potential health benefits, including protection against heart disease and cancer. Avatar f tn My doctor said, "the liver loves coffee." Not sure how the coffee helps the liver, does anyone here know? I can't drink much of it anymore. Tastes awful now.
Avatar m tn One or two cups late morning and afternoon has many benefits but not every day. Coffee is like a buggy whip, it can be overdone. It must be black. It is much different when you add cream and sugar. Some coffee is more like a milk shake with a little coffee flavor. If you don't like it black, you really don't like coffee.
Avatar f tn I read in a few places that ppl who drink a few cups of coffee a day do not experience such severe side effects.... AND that if they have been drinking it like forever that they don't seem to have as many "liver issues". As to the latter - baloney - HepC is HepC - ain't no coffee gonna stop that in its tracks. But during treatment? I thought that we had to say away from caffeine - coffee and cola.
Avatar m tn I'd really like to know the same thing. Joe likes coffee normally but can't really tolerate the acid and caffiene when on TX. I also wonder about adding cream. I know the cream has been reported to bind and inhibit the good benefits reported from coffee. I don't know if this applies to this use or not.
Avatar f tn lol 1- Better Circulation Warm water makes the blood rush to your skin, and cool water makes the blood rush to your organs. This switching between hot and cold triggers better circulation in your blood by forcing the blood to move. The ideal practice would be to switch numerous times between hot and cold water, but merely ending the shower with cold water does help with circulation. Why should you worry about having good circulation?
12365171 tn?1424880667 Half the time they discover a small amount of something has negative effects then later find benefits. I think i saw one study showing benefits of coffee drinking on the heart, just like they did with wine but that could change in ten years and they will say the opposite. I think as long as it's in moderation you're probably just fine. As long as it's not meth or something!
29837 tn?1414534648 Last night on 20/20, they were shouting the benefits of Vitamin D. My doctor insists I stay on a supplement of 800mg daily, even though I take a daily multiple vitamin with 400mg Vitamin D. This brings it up to 1200mg daily. Research has shown it helps the body in many ways. However, be careful of too much Vitamin D. Below is a snippet from the informative link... Avatar m tn I have had a frequent urination problem for a good few months but had always put off going to see the doctor. Any coffee I would drink would go straight through me, I would need to go urinate before I even managed to finish the coffee. If I needed to go and had to wait such as in a meeting or at the cinema I would find it hard to breathe and get slightly dizzy. Then I started taking supplements in the form of, Magnesium, Vitamin D3 & Cod liver oil. Are these the things that cured me?
Avatar m tn I know I've asked this before, but what KIND of stimulant effect will Adderrall have if I don't have ADD? Amild one like drining a 12 oz soft drink with caffeine? A major effect like 5 cups of very strong coffee? I'm not a coffee drinker so 3 cups of strong coffee really hypes me up. If I have mild to moderate depression and can't take anit-depresants, will Adderrall still calm me if I don't have ADD?
Avatar m tn A friend of mine opened a coffee shop and I have spent some time there. Strong coffee drinks seem to be eliminating my depression symptoms. At first I only noticed that souped-up coffee drinks made me think more clearly. When I say souped up, I'm talking about double, triple, or quad espresso shots, 200-400mg caffeine in a serving. A single cup of drip coffee, tea, or soda doesn't do much.
