While living in the US I was using Benazepril 40 mg, but now I'm living in Ecuador and that med is not available here not as lotensin on benazepril.
What can I sustitute it with?
hope that keeps up her bun and creatine have only changed a tiny amount since oct so i am encouraged with that, she was having a few accidents at nite about 4 weeks ago and the vet increases the benazepril a quarter of a tablet at the evening dose it was 2.5 mg every 12 hours before that , could the extra benazepril have contributed to the vomiting ? karly was spilling a little more protien in her urine so the increase was for that .will take her back in 4 weeks for new labs .
I was on benazapril for hbp for quite a while, developed a slight dry scratchy cough my doctor described as benazepril cough. He changed me to valsartan last week and thats where the real fun began :-( 3 days on valsartan and I was having horrible side effects of dizziness, rapid heart rate, general feeling of crappiness, even slight shortness of breath with the slightest exertion None of which I experienced with the benazepril.
It really depends on why your vet put her on Benazepril? Is it for diagnosed high blood pressure - or is it to help the kidneys function better through increased blood flow?
Benazepril is a good drug for either, but if it is merely to help the kidneys (in other words, if your dog does not already have high blood pressure), then extreme caution is needed.

It's possible that you have nodules that are leaking hormone independently of the thyroid gland itself. This can swing you from hypo to hyper very quickly.
t doing well and you raised them on your own to see if it would help which is never a good idea? What is the dose that you are taking? What dose did you take today? I could give you some more information then. But more importantly if you are starting to feel sick then you might have taken above what is the reccomended maximum dosage and clearly you are encountering some side effects.
max effective dose..........been on 20mg for 3 weeks............. wonderred if i would need more or just more time. worried if i take more i will be even more anxious, anyway i have an appt tomorow with psychiatrist so that is good timing i can ask her!
I am 75. I take 75 mg of atenolol and 40 mg of benazepril hcl every day. I had an echo stress test (speed increases every two minutes) and at 6 minutes my blood pressure starting falling so the test was stopped and the doctor said sometimes with blood pressure medicine that happens. If you have a 20 mGy exposure, then that is the maximum dose any tissue in the path of the radiation can recieve. I am 17. Saturday my head hurt like a migraine, I was a little nauseated and pretty drowsy, I didn't give it to much thought because it's been happening lately and I have bad allergies. Sunday I felt fine. Last night my back started hurting more so around the kidneys and I was pretty nauseated. Told my dad, he said to drink some water and rest. Usually when Psychiatrist refer to "maximum dose" they are refering to the maximum effective dose at which any more of the drug is simply never going to produce further theriputic results.
I know it sound as if it means "max dose" as in "that's the most you can take before the danger level" but that's not usually the case.
For example if the maximum effective dose of Effexor is shown to be 350Mgs a day.
