Avatar n tn Difference between Enalapril and Lisinopril in clinical applications? How often is each drug administrated and which one is more effective?
Avatar m tn While living in the US I was using Benazepril 40 mg, but now I'm living in Ecuador and that med is not available here not as lotensin on benazepril. What can I sustitute it with?
Avatar f tn She switched her from Enalapril to Benazepril, and continued the Lasix. Have been back a couple of times, and I keep asking if there's anything that can help her breathe better. She does not cough yet, but breathing is relatively rapid, and sometimes with some effort. Not panting, or open mouthed, just rapid and heavier than a normal dog. I know that the enlarged heart will affect her breathing, but I just wonder if there isn't some other med that might help ease that.
Avatar n tn I have CHF and EF of 25%, currently on 80 mg of Coreg and 30 mg lisinopril along with lasixs. I asked my doctor the same question. I was informed that if I stopped the Coreg my heart would eventually return to the same EF of 25%. Not a wise thing to stop the medication. You are at risk for Sudden Death Syndrome. If your heart were to get into an irregular rythm you could die. Please advise him to talk to his doctor.
Avatar n tn ) Please do let me know all the medication and supplements that she is on and her general care, so that I can tell you if anything further can be done to help. However, Dorothy, if she is throwing up continuously, and her numbers are rising, please steel yourself for having to deal withh the worst periods. As far as i have seen, this is a relentless disease and finally we have to let go.Even if you do not decide to put her to sleep yourself, you must prepare to see her go.

Avatar n tn Hi, i called into the pharmacy today and had a chat with the Pharmacist ,she produced a large book and showed me the symptoms i have been getting are due to the Enalapril and advised me to see my Doctor to get the tablets changed to an aternative, the symptoms you mention were also in this book she had. i am seeing the Doctor on Wednesday morning so i will let you know how i get on.
996946 tn?1503249112 As he aged he developed cough also. Began enalapril and lasix (diuretic) for congestive heart. It has helped but I think contributed to kidney issues. Difficult balance. Discuss both with your vet and get labs please to check kidney function to ensure his tolerance of meds and minimize dosage if possible. Good luck.
Avatar m tn He said hopefully the Enalapril would dilate the output artery(my words?) and increase EF and blood flow thus reducing fatigue. Does this sound reasonable and do you recommend other actions? Would changing the settings on the pacemaker make any difference? Is there anything new in the way of clearing old occluded arteries?
Avatar f tn Looking for good new...found out I am pregnant and am taking Lisinopril 10mg. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Avatar f tn If the blood pressure is abnormally high, medication to treat it is important. Ideally, this should be either Benazepril or Enalapril. Diet restriction of sodium and phosphorous is also important. At stage 3, there is also some advantage to minimizing protein to some degree (about 15% of total food intake daily). Nausea is very common (due to the toxins in the blood and stomach), so anti-nausea medication is advised. Cerenia is a good one.
Avatar f tn My 69 year old husband had surgery for a mitral valve repair and aortic valve replaced with an On-X valve on July 29, 2009. His ejection rate is 25% and the cardiologist wants him seen by as specialist to consider a biventricular pacemaker with defibrillator. He had indicated that he has left ventricular cardiomyopathy that might be a separate condition and not secondary to the valve issues. He also has left bundle branch block.
Avatar f tn Metoprolol can be used to improve ejection fraction. Other medications such as digoxin or ACE inhibitors (Lisinopril, Enalapril, etc) are also commonly used. It's best to discuss the specifics for your condition with your cardiologist to determine if there's a better medication for you.
1842659 tn?1318763960 The cardiologis has them on both enalapril and vetmedin. They seem to be doing OK with the combination and have been on it for about 10 months.
Avatar n tn Well, I talked to my gp about my condition, and said I was thinking it might be Labetalol, as I was doing great on Lisinopril last year. She said to get off this and start taking Enalapril 10mg, instead of labetalol 100mg 2x a day. And also, this week at the dr, my pulse was 68, which she said was much lower than normal for me, and thought it was the bp issues. I have only been on enalapril for a couple of days now, but have been very short of breath.
Avatar n tn Good Morning! I'm hoping someone here can help me a little. I was on benazapril for hbp for quite a while, developed a slight dry scratchy cough my doctor described as benazepril cough. He changed me to valsartan last week and thats where the real fun began :-( 3 days on valsartan and I was having horrible side effects of dizziness, rapid heart rate, general feeling of crappiness, even slight shortness of breath with the slightest exertion None of which I experienced with the benazepril.
Avatar f tn All drugs, not just Benazepril, cause issues for the kidneys. Why? Because most drugs are metabolized in the digestive system and waste by-products need to be cleared out of the system by the kidneys. Most of the by-products are toxic, so they have to be removed from the body - and the already damaged kidneys can find this work hard to perform, so some toxins end up circulating back in the bloodstream. Benazepril, thankfully, is metabolized chiefly by the liver.
Avatar m tn Lisinopril and Carvedilol are blood pressure medications (lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, Carvedilol is a beta blocker) and should not have any effect on your lipid profile. Both are important medications for those who have suffered a heart attack and undergone stenting. In addition to these medications, you should be on some sort of lipid medication (a "statin" such as atorvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvasatin, lovastatin, etc).
Avatar n tn Until late August my BP was generally140/75 but since then it is higher and despite 2 months of titration ( enalapril in several dosages) and adding 2mg Cardura to twice daily enalapril and 50 mg Toprol XL, it just fluctuates wildly during the day, and day to day, seemingly without regard to enalapril dosages being doubled, tripled, quadrupled or reduced.
1475974 tn?1306881321 My dog Lulu 14 yrs old diagnosed with Hepatozoonosis in 2011. her levels and blood pressure are very high. she is severally allergic or sensitive to most meds. Im very leary of her taking the enalapril. has anyone had bad reactions to this med??
1466631 tn?1286340024 My beloved 14-year-old Jack Russell was diagnosed with congestive heart failure last week. I hadn't noticed anything unusual about her behavior recently except for a very mild, occasional cough. Then, suddenly, last Wednesday, she refused to eat and had very low energy. On Thursday, after being examined by the vet, I was told she has congestive heart failure. The vet put her on 12.5 mg. of Lasix and 2.5 mg. of Enalapril twice a day.
Avatar f tn 5 mg had problems with that also, the problems that I was having was my BP would go down to 95/55 and I would get so dizzy and lightheaded all day long and was unable to live a normal life, so was put on Carvedilol 3.125 mg, I am doing better with this except that I have asthma and people who have bronchial disease shouldn't take Carvedilol it has a tendency to weaken the lungs, I have been having a terrible time with my asthma as of late, it could be the meds.
