bactroban

974371 tn?1424653129 Next day the one on my arm was filled up again so called my PCP. He did a culture, prescribed generic Bactrim and generic Bactroban. I did as instructed and just finished the Bactrim. ( good thing I took it! I hate taking meds). Anyway, doctor called me this evening to say it was Staph/MRSA and the Bactrim was the right antibiotic. Scared the hell out of me ( ESP with all the news coverage of that poor girl).
Avatar m tn I presented with only one sore at my cheekbone and was given clindamycin orally for 14 days and Bactroban ointment for topical use. The sore was believed to be an early indication of MRSA. I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban.
Avatar n tn ( Do you know anything that will help me rid myself of this mrsa mess!!! I will be going in to the Dr. tomm to see about bactroban for my nose. I use dial regularly & keep a clean & disinfected home! ***** but I'm not gonna let it ruin my life. I have 3 beautiful sons & a loving Husband. All gifts from God! Any thing you can tell me I would appreciate. Again Thank You for all you do!
Avatar n tn I work in an outpatient surgery center. We have never had a MRSA case but the Dr.'s are increasingly concerned about the rise in MRSA cases nationally. We are contemplating changing our prep to include betadine solution diluted with sterile saline placed in the cul-de-sac and left for 30 seconds. Any input?
Avatar m tn So to be clear you have had your nose tested for the bacteria to check for Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA (resistant Staph)? Have they said you have MRSA as opposed to regular not resistant staph? It sounds like a resistant staph to me. Staph aureus cause boils, furuncles, and folliculitis and other problems. Do you see any scabs or sores on your skin that have a hair growing out of them? So I wonder if you have folliculitis, which is infection of the hair follicle?
Avatar f tn I have been to 3 different ENTs, one tested me for staph - came back moderate staph (not MRSA) and took Keflex for 10 days-no improvement. Tested again 5 days after last culture and came back negative. Said I should use Bacitracin for a year as Bactroban burned. (I am allergic to all antibiotics but 2 and most other drugs-happens over time) 2nd ENT said Bacitracin irritates and easy to get allergic to it. Already allergic to Neosporin.
Avatar m tn ENT said I had some colonies in nose soUsed Bacrtoban for 3 days and slight pain in my nose went away per ENT. I stopped the bactroban after 3 days because I was not sleeping but I was also using Nasocort and maybe that was the culprit. Cold gone sinus not infected but having some pain that feels like a tooth ache and slight tickle or sting in nostrils when breathing. Left septum is a little enlarged.
Avatar f tn I have had 4 FESS over the years and was just diagnosed with MRSA in my sinuses. My MD started me on Bactrum 800 mg BID for 3 weeks and Bactroban nasal solution. I do sinus washes often and have increased recently. Any other suggestions?
Avatar m tn The doctors informed me that I am a MRSA carrier and I have to take antibiotics a week before and after any surgery. As for why the cysts always get infected, typically when the cyst is located at a high friction area like your groin or hips, it inflames the gland. Hope this helps. As far as preventing them, I haven't found anything that works. The doctor said I'm prone to them and will continue getting them for the rest of my life. It *****, but at least they're not cancerous.
Avatar f tn Follow the package insert. And see if they go away. Mupirocin (Bactroban) topical will also kill MRSA (I think this is prescription only). So there are lots of topicals that can kill it if you actually got it. They probably would give you an oral pill if you are not allergic to sulfa drugs Bactrim works and many other antibiotics. So try not to worry just because it could be MRSA. I think you just have pimples.
Avatar m tn You need to get her into doctor as it could be MRSA but in any case it is highly contagious and she will need antibiotics for it. Try to not share towels and wash anything in contact with it in hot soapy water. Wash hands frequently. Try to keep her hands off of it.
Avatar m tn Hi, has there been any research in the effectiveness of this oil on skin infections such as MRSA? My Dad has had confirmed MRSA. I have had a bad infection in my finger, from a cut, and Mum now has a Sty in the eye. I have been using various Antibiotics and Bactroban cream. As the infection is clearing up I have switched to using Chamomile Oil. I had used it for a day before all the antibiotics and it had quite a positive effect. I ran out of this oil and the infection worsened.
Avatar f tn I saw another doctor, who said I had folliculitis, and he prescribe Bactroban(Mupirocin) for me. He also hints me the folliculitis cannot be cured completely. I have to put Bactroban on the infected part to relieve the symptom, when I found acnes symptom become more severe. Then, I put Bactroban on my face. At the first 2 days, nothing happen. I therefore put more Bactroban on.
616582 tn?1225068601 My doctor put me on Bactrim for a sinus infection. I have had a slight reaction to it in the past. A couple hours after taking it I started getting a really bad itch on my penis. The skin under the helmet also swelled way up and it hurts a bit. I've taken Bactrim about 5 days now and the skin directly under the lip of the helmet has been peeling and is really sore. My doc says I'm not alleric to Bactrim and this is a coincidence but I'm not sure.
Avatar n tn A topical antibiotic cream, mupirocin (Bactroban®), has been effective at reducing bacterial colonization in the nostrils. It is applied twice daily for a week and is repeated every 6 months. Let us know if you need any other information and consult a skin specialist if the lesion is persistent. Regards.
441951 tn?1275762988 On the 5th of April I came out in lumps/sores, head and neck. Tests showed a Penecillin resistant Staff infection. My GP has given me 4 courses of anti's from the Penecillin family. None of which have worked. (Go figure) It's coming up on the end of August, there's no sign of the specialists appointment with the Hep C Doc which I took tests for 3 months back. I'd thought if I could hold it off I'd wait for the dude that know's what he's doing. But no.
Avatar n tn Go while you have the infection before it drains so he can test it. There is one MRSA. Staph can be life threatening, as you will see when you read information on it.
Avatar m tn This is going on five weeks now, and Im not getting any better. The MRSA swab came back negative and the blood test didn’t show much. Somebody please help me!! This has really affected my life and career and nobody in Australia seems to know how to cure this. Thank you…..
Avatar f tn Also, I noticed that my entire body felt like it was constantly trembling and that my pulse was constantly rapid. I went back to the doctor and he took a culture and gave me bactroban to put on the burn until the results come back. Since then, the area around the burn seems very faintly pink (when I had the cellulitis it was red) and still warm and tender to the touch, and also that I am experiencing alot of numbness and tingling and a burning sensation on my left leg, both arms, and my face.
Avatar n tn A topical antibiotic cream, mupirocin (Bactroban®), has been effective at reducing bacterial colonization in the nostrils. It is applied twice daily for a week and is repeated every 6 months. If there any of the mentioned medical causes then treating those will reduce the occurence of the condition. http://www.dermatologychannel.net/follicle/folliculitis.shtml Some stubborn cases of folliculitis have been responsive to laser-assisted hair removal.
Avatar f tn It is located on my cheek and I recently had a test for cold sores and it came back negative, but I put cold sore cream by chemists own (aciclovir 5%) on it and that seems to work. What is it?? I remember placing Bactroban on it which seemed to speed up the healing process, could this cold sore cream help a bacterial infection or could bactroban help a cold sore? Please help P.
Avatar f tn The red bumps are looking like they might be getting infected. I have a tube of 2% Bactroban (or Mupirocin is what it actually says) can I use this on that area to prevent further infection? How can I avoid this when shaving in the future?
Avatar f tn She had no sores or rash, and did not know she had the disease. Her husband was later diagnosed with MRSA..and has been told by doctors he is a MRSA carrier. I have a family member who was just diagnosed with pnuemonia...who was extremely exposed to a person who formerly had MRSA, and who was bleeding onto her..her face, nose, eyes and uppper body. I am concerned she couold have MRSA pnuemonia also..but her doctors are telling her there is no such thing...
577106 tn?1219839345 t know if this is were I should be posting this question, but there are no forums for MRSA or staph so I took a chance. If I need to be in another forum please let me know and I will look there. On to my question..so is MRSA curable? If the bacteria shows sensitivity to an antibiotic is the antibiotic more likely to kill the germ? My problem is I have read on the internet and been told two different things, yes it can and no it can't. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
