974371 tn?1424653129 Next day the one on my arm was filled up again so called my PCP. He did a culture, prescribed generic Bactrim and generic Bactroban. I did as instructed and just finished the Bactrim. ( good thing I took it! I hate taking meds). Anyway, doctor called me this evening to say it was Staph/MRSA and the Bactrim was the right antibiotic. Scared the hell out of me ( ESP with all the news coverage of that poor girl).

Avatar f tn I was prescribed bactrim as an antibiotic after a colonization of MRSA was found in my nose. Initially on Cephalaxin, for an abcess, but what switched over to bactrim, even though the abcess did not show any MRSA. I took my two pills for the day, and within 30 minutes after taking the last dose, my ankles began to itch... within another 30 minutes, it spread up my legs, I fell asleep, woke up, and the rash spread to my upper arms, my chest, and stomach (minimal in the last two areas).

Avatar m tn I presented with only one sore at my cheekbone and was given clindamycin orally for 14 days and Bactroban ointment for topical use. The sore was believed to be an early indication of MRSA. I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban.

I have had chronic UTI's for years now and my dr just treats them with antibiotics everytime and does an ultrasound to make sure nothing serious going on in there like cancer or kidney disease. Avatar m tn If those things are not the problem you may have resistance to the antibiotic they gave you. The treatment for community acquired MRSA (if you have that) is now daptomycin plus tigecycline. Otherwise, you can get resistance and the staph grows back. Also, once they treat you bleach down the sink and wash bedding and clean any areas that might have come in contact. Even disinfect your bike seat and don't go to the gym. You can get it there unless you are very careful.
