Common Questions and Answers about Bactroban cream vs ointment

bactroban

Avatar f tn The doctor did say I have angular cheilitis on my lips, he gave me an ointment, called Bactroban and an oral antibiotic but he said not to fill the antibiotic unless I really needed it, if the corners of my mouth became red and have pus coming out. So right now I am using the Bactroban ointment hoping that it is helping my lips. They still aren't healed yet, but hopefully it will heal. I did ask him what I can do so that I don't get this again, he just said to drink plenty of water.
Avatar n tn Which one is better for subsequent genital herpes o/b......acyclovir cream or ointment? What is the difference between the cream and the ointment? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I presented with only one sore at my cheekbone and was given clindamycin orally for 14 days and Bactroban ointment for topical use. The sore was believed to be an early indication of MRSA. I quickly developed cellulitis and swelling near, but not touching, the apparent abscess, as well as blisters in my nose. I used the mupiricin.(Bactroban) to keep the nasal blisters moist. Now diagnosed with post-herpetic neuralgia, but I still have blisters in my nose treating with Bactroban.
Avatar f tn i took him in to the emergency room and the Dr. prescrived bactroban in cream and told me to wash it regularly and said that by the next day it should be better. but its been 2 days since then and i been following the orders but i do not see it getting better, on the contrare it seems to be getting worse.. and how long does it take until it goes back to normal? he's not complaining of pain only when i apply the ointment.

Avatar n tn Four days later I went to the Doctor and she gave me an ointment called Bactroban and an antibiotic called Enhancin and I bathe it in warm salt water. Now, its hardly visible but the doctor is still unsure of what it was. This discussion is related to IgG vs IgM Question.
616582 tn?1225068601 My doctor put me on Bactrim for a sinus infection. I have had a slight reaction to it in the past. A couple hours after taking it I started getting a really bad itch on my penis. The skin under the helmet also swelled way up and it hurts a bit. I've taken Bactrim about 5 days now and the skin directly under the lip of the helmet has been peeling and is really sore. My doc says I'm not alleric to Bactrim and this is a coincidence but I'm not sure.
Avatar n tn I used it for 3-4 days and the irritation aggravated and i could see inflamation in new areas on the penis head. Then I went to my GP and he changed the cream to Bactroban. I used it for 3 days and over these 3 days, my skin became red and there was irritation all over the Penis head. The GP asked me to stop both the medicines and he is of opinion that, I may have a reaction of bactroban and has developed into a fungal infection.
Avatar n tn Be extremely careful about personal hygiene. Application of antiseptic washes may help prevent recurrences. A topical antibiotic cream, mupirocin (Bactroban®), has been effective at reducing bacterial colonization in the nostrils. It is applied twice daily for a week and is repeated every 6 months. After the lesions have healed you could try waxing. Let us know if you need any other information and consult a skin specialist if the lesion is persistent. Regards.
Avatar n tn he was tested for STDs before he entered so he is clear from that. i have Bactroban cream i was thinking of sending him, is that a good idea?
Avatar n tn Also you have advised to use Mupirocin (Bactroban®). I am unsure about where to apply the Ointment. In the affected area or the Nostrils (I think you mean the affected area) Please clarify this. Also you have said to repeat that every 6 months, please tell me how long should I continue this. You have told here to apply mupirocin (Bactroban®) twice daily for a week.
196674 tn?1306502156 Also wear cotton clothes and apply a topical antibiotic cream like Bactroban. If the symptoms are worse then get it examined from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Hello, Maintain a good hygiene and keep the wound site as dry as possible. Also apply Bactroban or Neosporin antibiotic ointment and take some pain killers of there is any pain. But if there is any redness, severe pain, fever or drainage of any serous or watery discharge or any pus from the wound then infection should be suspected. It can be confirmed after culture sensitivity of the wound swabs/blood/discharge from the wound. Specific antibiotics are then prescribed. I hope it helps.

5123318 tn?1417395836 You can try measures to reduce colonisation of the nose and spread (for example, by using 2% mupirocin cream or ointment applied inside the nostril 3 times per day for 5 days each month). It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Moisturizers should be reapplied liberally during the day. You can also use a topical cortisone (steroid) cream or ointment like dermacort(hydrocortisone). Adding a humidifier to the central heating system of your home or using a humidifier also helps. If still the symptoms persist then possibility of eczema or atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis need to be ruled out. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn Can someone please tell me what other creams do the same job as fucidin cream, I want an OTC cream for folliculitus on my penis? The active ingredient is fusidic acid 2%. The other ingredients are butylhydroxyanisole (E320), cetyl alcohol, glycerol, liquid paraffin, polysorbate 60, potassium sorbate, purified water and white soft paraffin.
Avatar f tn I went to a dermatologist once and he perscribed this ointment and it went away. I was working in the service industry then, but not now. I dont know if I am having this as a result of an allergic reaction, or is it a fungus or a staph infection or some kind of bacterial infection or yeast infection or something else?
Avatar f tn A bump that has been there for months is not due to herpes anyways so the cream would be useless. Of course the cream is also useless for genital herpes too so you have double the totally wasted your time and money going on :( You need to find a different doctor to be seen by who knows what they are doing.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old son has had a small cut under his earlobe where it connects with his face. I recently took him into the Dr and they prescribed Bactroban and said to put Eucerin lotion on it inbetween Bactroban treatments for 10 days. It does not seem to be healing up. I am not sure if it is because he bothers it and is keeping it from healing. Is there anything else I can be doing to help this cut heal and close?
Avatar f tn I finally went to a walk in doctor and was diagnosed with folliculitis.. I was prescribed an antibiotic twice daily for ten days and apply bactroban cream 2-3 times daily. I only have about 6 antibiotic pills left (3 days worth) and not much cream left either. However, the only relief I have had is the itching. I do not really have itching anymore and when I do it is minor and the cream really helps.
