Avatar f tn I wanna just breast feed because supplementing wth formula causes ur breast milk supply to run low and the baby might even start rejecting the bbreast. It also could really start upseting their tummy. If u want whats best, pump pump pump.
278664 tn?1319840159 Ok so a week ago I got really sick, throwing up and diareaha. I lost alot fluids that night and I'm breastfeeding. Well since then my milk has been very low. I have been trying to pump after each feeding to make sure I empty the breast to stimulate more milk, but it's not. I have been drinking alot of fluids, eating well. I've had to supplement almost every night with formula or with pumped milk.
Avatar f tn s worth it and your babies health will benefit even 50 years into future due to breastmilk. Pump more try nursing more and there are some herbal mothers milk teas to promote milk supply. You can do it!
Avatar f tn It also helps to eat something atleast every 2 hours during the day and if/ when baby gets up to eat at night you need extra calories and fat to produce milk. Also dried cracked sore nipples is normal it gets better over time you can buy lanolin at any store they have breastfeeding supplies. It's an ointment that is totally safe for baby.
Avatar f tn ) xx
Avatar f tn s also a tea called mothers milk tea you can get at gnc or vitamin shoppe and it also helps increase supply, it just tastes awful. Keep pumping and putting her to the breast every two hours or your supply will continue to drop. Definitely call an lc to ask about the dosage of fenugreek, etc. it really helps!
Avatar f tn Ok thanks guys yes I plan to breastfeed while I'm with him and only pump when I leave to go to work so I can leave milk with daddy and grandma but for the first 3 months I plan to be with him and let him suck the milk out andd ok iI'll make sure I try those things to help me produce more milk thanks
11176312 tn?1428387346 I did try fenugreek per my dr recommendation, and not only did it turn my milk a light green color but to get milk stimulation you need to take like 9 pills a day for it to be effective.
Avatar f tn Then she will continue to suck and get breast milk. Pumping helps to increase milk supply and you could pump and feed while you transition.
7590082 tn?1392496513 Hey ladies. I'm expecting my second child in September and I really want to breast feed. It didn't work out with my first cuz I had a low milk supply and couldn't feed her anymore at 3 months.. What if I can't breast feed this baby either? Does a low milk supply mean always a low milk supply with every child? What were your experiences?
6036387 tn?1395008183 I think tongue tied is when the skin on the bottom of the tongue is attatched more than it should be. My ex husband was born that way and the doctors just snipped the skin and he was able to nurse after that. In also having a hard time saving up a milk supply. I need to go back to work in 3 weeks and I can't seem to pump enough so that I can send the baby to child care with breast milk.
1209036 tn?1299178657 Actually the pump will enlarge the nipple a little and can be more painful. I suggest that you go back to exclusily BF and go to Jack Newmans site to see videos on good latching. It should not hirt the nipple once he has latched on right. THe baby might have a shallow latch. You will never get enough with a pump like a baby will get on its own. I do not know what you were wanting to hear but you do need to start nursing again every two hours at least and go no more then 3 during the night.
Avatar f tn Thank you ladies. And thanks to God my little man is home with mommy. And at first i had a lot of breastmilk and now it's low. But thank you ladies, i will try. And im confused the lady at wic told me to drink a lot of milk. But i will surely drink more water. Thank you both.
Avatar f tn I breast fed my daughter and I always had extra to put in the fridge. I just had to pump at the time she usually had to feed and I kept producing alot of milk.
741877 tn?1265950200 Breastmilk digest quickly, he was probably to tired from the sucking, it took my baby an hour just to get full, i had to find a good position to put her in and i went to see a lactation specialist to help me with getting her to latch better. I had thought at once she was not getting enough but she was. If your baby ***** for 10 min and go to sleep then that means they are satisfied, but i also heard women say they would do 10 min on each breast and the baby would be content for 2 hours.
Avatar n tn Your body is probably adjusting to the amount of milk your baby needs. Mine never felt hard even in the beginning. But if you want to try and up your supply make some lactation cookies.. Just Google a recipe for them. I know sounds silly but they help with milk supply. Also drinking milk helps and lots of water!!
Avatar f tn My 1st baby was born at 27wks and I expressed for 9 weeks with the help of medication as my milk supply was low. Baby number 2 was full term and I breast fed and expressed plus the help of medication for about 7 weeks and gave up then due to low supply. Baby number 3 was full term and again I fought for about 5 weeks with expressing, breastfeeding and medication before I gave up. My body doesn't seem to like to make much milk unfortunately.
Avatar n tn If memory serves me your TSH seems to be running a little too high. Your levels will/can cause a low milk supply. Perhaps though not jumping from 175 to 125 but go to 137. Make sure your OB knows and understands that you are breastfeeding and that you want to take it a little slow b/c going the other direction will also have an affect on your milk. If you don't mind my asking - what makes you feel like your supply is low?
741877 tn?1265950200 The best way to build your supply is to continue to let baby nurse at your breast as long as THEY want to nurse. So get comfy and grab your Boppy and put in a movie marathon. You do not need to supplement with formula. This does not sound like a supply issue but what is termed "cluster feeding". Baby needs to nurse at LEAST 15 minutes on each side at this age so wake baby up (tickle their feet, undress him, change his diaper, etc.) and keep him at the breast.
Avatar n tn I exclusively pump and feed because my baby wouldn't latch. In the beginning pump every 2 hours (mimick babies feeding schedule as if you were breast feeding). Although in personally only pumped twice during the night (once at 12, once at 2) then when my baby got up for the day I did my next one. Drink tons of water, eat oatmeal with almond milk, eat properly in general. You can also try fenugreek pills, mothers milk tea, brewers yeast, or domperidone (which is a prescription drug).
Avatar f tn its what saved me when I breastfed my daughter-- she had trouble latching right on without it and it made the transition from breast to bottle and back and forth easy... I had that same problem first time around and since I thought my left was always engorged I fed her predominantly out of the left one... I nearly lost my supply in the right one and I dried up completely after 4 months (and I had to supplement after 1.5 months because I didn't produce enough)... one thing...
136689 tn?1419580447 m trying to get as much milk frozen for when i return to work and i need to have a bottle a day for when i go to gym, i also have noticed that he is emptying both sides just before bed and that he is sleeping longer which i'm happy for but i just need to increase more milk
2121625 tn?1350484749 def dont suppliment, it will be a growth spurt, just put him to breast as often as he wants and your milk supply will increase to his demands, also you shouldnt feel engorged anymore as your milk supply will be regulated by how much your bub is having :)
3588173 tn?1357317184 Mine increased a good amount once I got him home and could put him to breast. If I were you I would pump once or twice at night an otherwise get some rest. I know I sleep in one to two hour shifts before I'm putting him back to the breast.
Avatar f tn You want to keep the baby on the breast as much as possible even if she/he is using you as a pacifier, I noticed skin to skin contact with my little one has helped. My milk supply did decrease while I went back to work. I will play a video from my phone or stare at his pictures to help my milk flow when I pumped at work. I am not pregnant with baby #2 and hope to breast feed as long as possible.
9842459 tn?1411688168 I plan on going back to work once she is born and I was wondering if its okay to do. While I am looking I plan on breast feeding normally though.
Avatar n tn Yup thats it!! Some woman leak quite alot while others don't. Whether you do or you don't, won't determine your milk supply. Keep putting baby on the breast to help stimulate the flow. Yehh I'm sure you'll be fine!
