Back pain and constipation

Common Questions and Answers about Back pain and constipation

pain

Avatar f tn m sorry to say, it is most likely constipation. Any type of pain that moves around and comes and goes is usually related to the gastrointestinal tract. One of the very best things for constipation is LOTS of water. Try drinking 2-3 liters per day. Also, Miralax is safe and effective. It won't hurt a baby if you are pregnant. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Try a warm bath and you can take tylonol for the back pain. But the back pain and cramping are totally normal. Just as long as you are not bleeding you should be fine. I get the horrible period like cramps though where Im doubled over because they hurt so bad and I can normally tag it to constipation pretty quickly. Its very common in pregnancy. Water will help with that too. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Is cramping normal for 8 weeks also back pain. Today I went to the bathroom (#2) and it hurt really bad to push is that bad?
Avatar f tn s helped tremendously, but when I stand or walk for long periods of time I have more pain. Am concerned about the pain in the abdomen and if it could be related to the back pain. One doctor told me it could affect the stomach since the nerves in the back area could be causing the front area to hurt. Thank you for any help you can provide.
1099046 tn?1281009951 I have lower back pain but it could be due to constipation and yes the round ligament stretching has started for me already this time around.
120574 tn?1240767840 I agree. I tried everything and I am a complete fruit freak. It should have been enough fiber but it wasn't. Miralax worked wonders. Just make sure you find that right dosage for you. Some people take it twice a day some only once a week. I realize that what I am about to write is the equivalent of shouting and I mean it to be. TAKE YOUR PAIN PILLS!!!!! Being in pain makes everything else worse.
Avatar f tn I have been having trouble with constipation and gas. As well as pain in my ribs and back that feels as it is caused by gas. I also have this problem of food regurgitating up to an hour or two post meal. Just got diagnosed from the mayo clinic with rumination syndrome which is related to the gas trapped in my stomach that causes pain and then to burp more then normal when it finally releases.
Avatar f tn and barley had any leg pain before hand, just sometimes, it was mainly in my lower back and right hip. now i am so numb with leg pain you could put a knnife in it and i wouldnt notice. is this normal? its in my right butt cheak down to my knee. also i havnt had a bowel movement since the surgery, i know my meds can do that, ive been on the same pills since before surgery and never had a problem but now im taking more pills.
Avatar f tn At the beginning of August, I was awoken with pain in my lower right quadrant, that continued to get worse until I went to the ER early that afternoon, and by the time I saw the doctor, the pain had spread to my upper left quadrant, and radiated around to my back. The doctor I saw thought I may have a kidney stone or a ruptured ovarian cyst, and sent me home to rest with some pain medication.
Avatar n tn its the weekend i am in pain. its like a traveling pain and i have a hard time eating and spend most of my time laying down because its harder sitting up. i just hope i can get through the weekend.
433485 tn?1321813390 Most physicians in the United States will not prescribe a steroid for back pain. That being said, sometimes the pain can become unbearable and actually prevent one from standing up. For the VERY short term (a day or so), prednisone can provide relief. The problem is the patient feels so much relief he/she will demand additional prednisone, which, over the long term may cause severe life-threatening complications.
Avatar f tn At first it stemmed from my neck, shoulders, and upper back. Soon after I started to feel pain in my chest, both sides right by my armpits, lower back, and abdomen area especially on my right side. The pain is usually sharp. When I do sit for a long period of time, both my right and left sides hurt but more on my right. Recently I had diarrhea for three days straight and then feeling constipated.
Avatar m tn For severe constipation, I've found that magnesium citrate is the best laxative out there (can be found over the counter). For the gas problems you can try gas-x (also over the counter). However, you should find a new GI doctor that will take you seriously.
Avatar f tn I was told by my doctor that she was just leaning toward constipation, but I would think the pain would be more of my abdomen and not just pain under my rib cage that radiates to my back. I have thought about the pain being caused by appendicitis, because it just feels like something is just going to explode. I have mentioned in a comment to another member that this pain has been since September and my doctor at the VA is making it so hard for me.
Avatar f tn I'm having my first child and I'm having bad lower back pain...I'm only 5 weeks so is this normal???
Avatar f tn can constipation cause awful back pain? what about a pinched nerve in back causing constipation? the symptoms seem to be getting better but im still worried. thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I'm 13+5 weeks pregnant. I have really bad back ache and my tummy hurts too. It's not cramping it just aches. Does anyone else have this?
Avatar f tn d like to add that I have had lower back pain(feels like an organ or some thing and not muscle on the inside) and constipation since I had the small light brown dishcharge. I have also felt real lowe on energy, no matter how much I eat, or even what super foods I eat aren't replenishing my energy, and lately I've had to really push myself to get up and continue my exercise routine lately... my husband and had unprotected intercourse (I know slightly tmi, but...) durning my period...
Avatar f tn had some lower abdominal pain. constipation which got resolveds with a stool softener, lots of fluids, and prayer. had constipation for well over a week. woke up this morning with pressure and pain in right shoulder blade and when i tried to take a deeper breath, it hurt in the upper right abdomin. have had lots of belching and some gas. saw a doctor last friday and was checked for vaginal ultrasound monday.
Avatar f tn but i took something which you disolve in water to relieve constipation and it seems to be ok now. in terms of the back pain, i do exercise frequently but havnt really been doing anything different..and i do stand up alot at work and wear quite flat shoes...so perhaps this could be causing my back pain? as you can see im quite confused..
725248 tn?1316162245 I also need to mention that I have chronic back problems and take narcotics for the pain, in January I had a 2 level fusion and now I am in even more back pain. I have tried just about everything I know and I know I don't want it to get to the point of being an impacted bowel. I am trying to avoid surgeries for a long time after this last backs surgery and the first two nights of pain from hell. I drink lots of water daily, take stool softeners, have tried all sorts of laxitives.
Avatar m tn If your doctor confirms the haemarrhoid, some cream available from the pharmacy will help it to calm down. Avoiding standing for long periods of time and preventing constipation and excess weight will help it to shrink down. It may not give you any further discomfort if you do this. If it does continue to trouble you, it can be removed with simple surgery.
