383536 tn?1225030613 when you start feeding yor baby rice cereal how often are you supposed to?
Avatar f tn Babies should not get any solids before 6 months including cereal. Unless your doctor has told you to give baby cereal I wouldn't do it. Bring your concerns to your doctor and ask them for a loop recommendation, most like so long as baby is gaining weight as normal there is no need to feed anything besides formula or breast milk. Babies do not need to get the exact same amount of food at every feeding. They will eat until they are full.
Avatar f tn But yes they can have rice cereal. The main ingredient in no spit up formula and some others is rice. Go with your mommy instincts. "Researchers say" changes every few years, you know whats best.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering because i am a first time mom and as you all know when ur a first time mom u talk to other moms that has had a few kids and they give advice and sometimes u take it well in that case thats me i took the advice i started it when my baby was 2 or 3 weeks old also i didnt know babies can only have it at 4 to 6 months so i freaked when i googled it all and it said all that so to the point my son was doing so good on the rice cereal and after reading all that and taking him off t
290867 tn?1333569278 Rice cereal doesnt help babies sleep through the night. its all just coincidence that they slet through the night. rice creal when its not recomended 4-6 just helps with refulx. your babys only 1 month old.
Avatar f tn So husband and I are really contemplating adding rice cereal to his last bottle before we go to bed. Just enough to get him to maybe drop 1 night feeding and be fully hungry at the next. What are some of your thoughts. I know they say 3 months or older but this whole waking up just to feed 1.5 ounces every 2 hours is super annoying. And we're wasting a lot of formula.
4503653 tn?1355583969 she drink a 5 oz bottle about every 2 hours, sometimes sooner. i was thinking about starting her with baby rice cereal. she seems hungry still after a bottle. i read everywhere that you shouldnt start till 4 months old. my doctor reccomends 4 months also. i was just wondering when did you mommies start with the cereal? any bad experiences from starting early? im so back and forth with this...
341551 tn?1266980730 ) and we just started him on Rice Cereal last night. We put 1 Tbsp. of Cereal in his bottle (which is about 5-6 ounces of formula). He did great on it! He LOVED it..sucked it down and even though we put it in his 5:00pm bottle he had a 9PM bottle, fell asleep at 10 and slept until 9AM!! So not sure if the Cereal had anything to do with that, but we'll see if the pattern continues tonight. It was awesome for mom and dad though! Anywho, my question...is 1Tbsp the right amount?
341551 tn?1266980730 It just never seemed like she was getting full enough after her bottles and she would always spit up after her bottles. Everyone I ever talked to said they did they same. My daughter is now 5 and perfectly healthy.
470885 tn?1326329037 Your baby doesn't actually *need* the cereal or any baby food for that matter. Breastmilk or formula are the perfect food for the first year. I wouldn't sweat it. He's not ready and it shouldn't be forced upon him. My baby girl did the same thing so we just skipped it. She hated baby food, too. But she's over 9 months old now and starting to take little bites of my food and LOVING it. She just wants what we have and could care less about pureed foods.
364288 tn?1300144506 I think that 6 months is a perfect time to start your little on on rice cereal/baby food if they are breast fed. My little guy started rice cereal at 4 months (he wasn't being breastfed) and now just loves to eat. It is normal for them to spit out a little of the food. They are just learning what to do with this new thing that you are introducing to them. The most important thing is that when you stick something in their mouth they don't automatically push it out with their tongue.
Avatar f tn Rice cereal is recommended over oats or wheat because there is less of a chance your baby could be allergic. It is a lot easier on their stomachs and digestive track too. No matter what you decide to start off with...or when to start...checking with the pediatrician is probably the most important factor in your decision vs what we say on these forums.
Avatar f tn I asked his pediatrician to introduce solids early so he allowed rice cereal. I tried to give himthe rice cereal ( cerelac) he made faces and spit it up and wouldn't swallow it. I tried the flavoured cereal with fruits.. he hated it as well. I need my son to be full and sleep through the night. I went back to work since he ws three months and a half and full time. I can't function at all with the interrupted sleep as he wakes up every two hours to feed. What can I do?
1330108 tn?1333677304 m afraid to sleep at night because she still does sometimes spit up. They told me I could try rice cereal mixed with breastmilk but I've heard mixed reviews on this. She also seems to over eat and does better with the bottle bc I can know how much she has gotten and can limit it. But I do love BFing and want to continue. Any suggestions??? I know the GERD is typical for bc she was born at 35 weeks 1 day gestation but OMG I did not realize how stressful it is :(.
Avatar n tn Her doctor wanted me to start introducing her to infant cereal. I have tried both rice cereal and oatmeal cereal and she will only eat about 3-4 bites then starts crying like she doesnt want it. They also reccomended that i wait until 5 months to introduce her to the 1st stage baby food. When I mix the cereal, at first I just mixed it with water, then i tried mixing it with a little formula to try to make it taste a little more familiar to her.
Avatar f tn My sons doc had me put him on rice cereal when he was about 5 weeks old he was a spit up baby....
Avatar f tn I have 3 kids 10years old 3 years old and 2 months i gave them all cereal its up to u talk to ur doctor my 10 year old was eating 8oz right from birth and it wasnt enough so we put cereal in it my 3 year old was losing weight fast doctor put her on a rice based formula and added rice cereal to it as well my son is 2 months and i give him a rice cerael bottle at night he sleeps from 10:30pm to 6:30am it is all about what u feel comfortable with u can always talk it ovet with ur doctor
4105678 tn?1356545271 I've never put it in a bottle, but babies shouldn't have any type of food or cereal until 4 months as they can't digest it. I started giving mine baby rice once a day at 4 months then gradually built it up so that by 4-5 months they were eating baby foods 3 times a day.
Avatar f tn It also is used to make the baby get better rest because it takes longer to digest. The rice cereal you just heat up like oatmeal for a while for them to get used to having to digest thicker food. So like i think i did atleast a month but it deoends on what your pediatrician says. Then after a while you just feed them the fruit seperatley. So maybe apples for breakfast and a bowel of cereal for dinner. It's so fun once they start eating!
364288 tn?1300144506 m proud to say that my little monster is finally eating the baby food and his rice cereal. I found a rice cereal that has bananas or peaches mixed in with it and he loves it! He gets that every morning and then a veggie and a fruit in the evening. I'm so proud of him!
525485 tn?1314361301 OMG 8-9 hours?? LUCKY!! My lil man still gets up to eat at night too but he's gotten a lot better. He will sleep for 5-6 hours which is good for him! Maybe thats the problem, since their sleeping so much at night, they wake up starving! lol. What kind of cereal are you getting? I think I'm going to start Caiden on that too, see if that fills his tummy.
1303813 tn?1303159362 Sounds like you have a pretty happy baby when you give him the rice. I started my son on rice at 4 months because that's what the doctor suggested - but I know in some cases, they suggest earlier or later depending on when the child is ready. I think you're fine doing what you're doing. It's amazing he sleeps so long all night! Congrats to you! Mine didn't do that 'til after 6-7 months old and he was always under weight even though I fed him every 3 hours or so!
Avatar f tn My daughter is 5 weeks old and ever since we brought her home we have been in and out of the doctors because she has been puking up almost everything in her stomach after feeding! She can fall asleep and wake up hours later after eating and just puke everywhere!!
Avatar f tn He is 7 weeks old and had been eating 6oz every 2 hours now he is eating 4oz with rice cereal every 4 hours. My husband was also on cereal early as well and he turned out perfectly fine and healthy.
9399295 tn?1403752593 I started my son on rice cereal at 3 months. I added a teaspoon of rice cereal and a teaspoon of Karo syrup to help with digestion and to prevent constipation. Oatmeal is easier on the belly and works just like rice cereal.
Avatar f tn Hi, this is my first pregnancy and I'm deeply desiring for a daughter , I can barley hold food down when I eat cereal it has to be plain such as cherrios or rice crispy nothing with chocolate or any flavored cereal, sometimes certain juices will make me throw up, and lately I've been eating allot of fruit ave veggies more often than actual food, milk has been my ultimate best friend every time I eat and have a glass of milk I'm more likely to hold it down.
