Avatar n tn Hi Cinnabon, While you ask about Vitamin B specifically (not sure which of the B vitamins you have in mind) you might like to read about vitamins "in general." This website has objective and generally well-researched info: http://home.howstuffworks.com/vitamin-b.htm It's a good idea to chat with your doc, nutritionist or CDE about vitamins, particularly when to take them if you are taking other meds.
Avatar n tn Another possibility is that metformin can deplete b vitamins in your body. Lack of B vitamins can cause neuropathy. I think you should go to your dr with these symptoms and ask to have your b vitamin levels tested. You should then supplement with b vitamins too. Please let us know how you go.
Avatar n tn HI, I had a baby 9 months ago and would like to lose some weight manily due to high blood pressure. I have been researching that vitamins b-2, b-3, b-5, & B-6 all help with this. I was wondering if anyone know if it is safe to take these supplements? I am healthy but currently don't have insurance to go talk to a doctor. has anyone tried this way also. i refuse to do diet pills because they don't work. Or if you have any other ideas?
Avatar n tn While it may take some time for health improvement, it basically involves taking balanced food, doing exercises and taking certain B vitamins which are found deficient in people who have been drinking more for years. I hope, now that he has overcome the most difficult part of the treatment - to completely stop smoking and drinking - other things would improve in due course with your support and changes in life style.
12802766 tn?1427764870 First, a warning -- there are about a half-dozen major B vitamins with another dozen related molecules that comprise the entire B-comple. The B vitamins have names like niacin (b3), thiamine (b1), folic acid (b9), cyanocobalamin (b12), and others. Each performs a different metabolic function. I believe you may have misheard your doctor. I can't think of a disorder where all B vitamins would be high and you probably do not want to lower all of your B vitamin levels.
Avatar m tn This is normal with B vitamins. You will notice this happens if you use nutrtional yeast, too.
Avatar f tn What is the cause of the nerve damage? Complex B 12 vitamins help with nerve support and can speed up the nerves healing but nothing will help if whatever is damaging them is not fixed.
Avatar n tn Any nerve for that matter if it is completely degenerated cannot be regenerated, but there are certain vitamins which can improve the function of nerves and nervous system. Nervous function and muscular coordination requires the presence of B vitamins along with the vitamin E in good quantities within the body, any resulting or existing deficiencies in these vitamins will ensure weaknesses to overcome the musculature.
1722607 tn?1335747858 Not sure I agree with all of your points. Yes, there are some vitamins and supplements that are contraindicated (I'm looking at you St. John's Wort and Vitamin A) but Vitamin E and the B vitamins are really important in my opinion. My husband is following Misha Cohen's protocol, and is doing incredibly well. Supposedly Vitamin E is essential for blood health.
Avatar n tn Your partner seems to be either in very good control , or very lucky. I was told to take B vitamins about 20 years ago, and that, coupled with better control, put an end to most of the pain. I took a 50 mg B complex (50 mg of aeach B vitamin). If I took more, the pain returned. I have since found that Aplha_Lipoic Acid is a good treatment (since the 50's in Germany) and a recent study at the Mayo clinic substatiated this.
Avatar n tn I always change my diet, but I havent had much bread as I think I have an allergy to wheat. Forgot to keep taking B vitamins for missing vitamins. Good luck! There is always a cure! Just keep researching and trying different things. Stay hopeful.
404138 tn?1308941656 org) They make recommendations for women with diabetes and gestational diabetes, but even for women without those conditions, their diet is great. The American College of Gynecology (ACOG.org) site probably has some good information too. The only difference is that you can afford to indulge an occasional craving or two. If your diet is not optimal, a prenatal vitamin is really a good idea--if you can tolerate it. Make sure to get plenty of calcium and iron too.

Avatar n tn "HCV infection significantly lowered vitamin B(6) and folate (p<0.05). Therapy caused further decrease in vitamin B(6) (p<0.05), and also significantly decreased vitamins B(1) and B(2) (p<0.05). This anti-HCV therapy caused more patients to exhibit insufficient iron status. HCV infection elevated plasma level of malondialdehyde and 8-isoprostane, and therapy further exacerbated lipid oxidation (p<0.05).
Avatar m tn One thing worth noting is I recently stopped taking Vitamins A, B, E, along with Chromium and Zinc. I stopped taking these about 1-2 days before the shortness of breath problem started to occur. I still take Vitamins C and D daily. I have never experienced this before and the symptom usually comes on while sitting down, sometimes standing up, and not being very busy mentally. Maybe I should just be more patient and try and wait this out? It's very annoying though.
Avatar m tn You have a polyneuropathy which could be due to vitamin B12 deficiency,B6 deficiency, alcoholism, diabetes, uremia etc. You need to stop alcohol intake, supplement vitamins, investigate with blood tests if you have diabetes and renal function. MRI spine should also be done to look for any disc herniation causing the tingling, numbness. 5720485 tn?1373563055 Has anyone had success adding higher doses of vitamins to your treatment regimen? I found some articles on B12 and Vitamin D. http://www.hepatitiscnewdrugresearch.com/vitamin-b12-supplements-may-help-treat-hepatitis.html http://www.hepatitiscnewdrugresearch.com/vitamin-d-and-treatment.html Also found lots on vitamin C, but was unable to find any verification, or personal endorsment.
Avatar n tn I do know that B-6 and interfere with B12, I was told that I should take B12 and not a multi-complex B vitamin since some B vitamins can cause B12 to not be absorbed as much as if taken alone.
Avatar m tn Hello, Metformin can deplete B vitamins. B vitamins are essential to nerve health. So if you are taking metformin, then you should consider supplementing with B Vitamins. However, there is a confounding factor in that many people who are taking metformin are still walking around with very high blood sugars. Very high blood sugars cause serious damage to nerves. So what do you blame? The metformin, or the high blood sugars? Neuropathy is reversible with normalization of blood sugars.
Avatar n tn Complex B-12 vitamins help. I was prescribed Metanx that was a complex B-12. It started working after about 3 months but I had to quit taking it because it was working. I have 2 herniated disk that are pinching my nerves and I could not take the pain. Hope this info was helpful.
Avatar f tn Plus you have to remember everything is super squished including your stomach and baby is taking most of your protein intake, vitamins etc.
3063937 tn?1352422855 Also vitamins b-6 and b-12 to help with fatigue. And they also sell a med OTC at Walmart called restless legs u can take before bed that will help with the legs at night also and as always get ya a good multi vitamin.
Avatar f tn There an awful lot of them that might help. I'd recommend you find a holistic nutritionist for help with this. They'll help to make you as strong as they can, and with so many things to choose from and not knowing what meds you might be taking, they can help with the trial and error of finding what works. Diet is also very important for this particular problem, more so than supplements.
1808884 tn?1324345703 MAKE SURE TO TAKE VITAMIN B-12, MULTI-VIT, VIT-C, CALCIUM (NOT AT THE SAME TIME AS C OR THE C WILL KILL THE CALCIUM), MAGNESIUM. I AM TAKING FOLIC ACID WITH B-12. I WOULD MAKE SURE THAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU BY LOOKING IT UP ON LINE, IT'S PROBABLY OK!
Avatar f tn Cat, Try to load up on gatorade & bananas as well. DOnt know about the 5HTP, but Vit B, C and Calcium has helped me with the leg stuff. Stay the course!
