Azithromycin z pack alcohol

Common Questions and Answers about Azithromycin z pack alcohol

zithromax

Avatar f tn I see a lot of people asking about z pack curing chlamydia/gonorrhea and the common response is “It has to be 1g at once to work.” I’m confused by this. 1 g is 1,500mg. The typical z pack is 1,500mg total over the course of 5 days. 500mg on day one and then 250mg the next four days. So my question is, why would it HAVE to be 1,000mg of z pack at once to work rather than also 1,500 over 5 days?
1901977 tn?1333991726 I was trying to tough it out but my upper respiratory infection has moved down into my chest and with my asthma, the doctor is really worried about it turning into pneumonia and just put me on the "Z-Pack" (Azithromycin)antibiotics. I'm in my 12th week right now, and really worried about taking them. But the doctor says if my breathing goes bad or I get pneumonia that's much worse for the baby...so I just took my first dose tonight.
Avatar m tn I have been on Azithromycin (Z-pack) for 2 days and have a blood test schedule for Monday, so day 3 of a Z-pack? Do you know if the antibiotics could mask or alter the test in a good/bad/neutral way?
5915949 tn?1396188227 I think that's your personal judgment call, most women are willing to take a catagory A or B. I did not take a z-pack, but I took azithromycin & it is also category B. Do the benefits outweigh the risks?
Avatar n tn Was prescribed a Z Pack taken in the 500mg first day followed by one 250 a day for respritory issue. NO change in penial symptoms. Along Ive had diarhhea for four months since this began. Never any discharge except a miniscule amount of clear one time. After a while the penile symptoms subcided. Went to doctor for the urine and diarrhea. He ran stool and urine sample which were ok. My question: 1 is are these typical urethritis symptoms?
Avatar m tn I was very sick in December and was prescribed a five day dose of azithromycin in the form of a Z-Pack. I was recently told by someone I had sex with that they tested positive for gonorrhea. I have had no symptoms and it has been over two months now. Is there a possibility that the Z-pack effectively treated the gonohrrea?
Avatar n tn How long would it take for HSV1 or HSV2 lesions to appear? I was put on a Z-Pack for swollen lymph nodes in my neck and general fatigue on Sunday, but I've noticed only slight abdominal pain and no swelling of any glands around my groin. Are any of these symptoms indicative of HSV1/2?
Avatar n tn am I still contagious if im taking the z pack for my cough and cold
Avatar m tn 0 gram dose of azithromycin or doxycycline, 100 mg orally, twice daily for 7 days. The Z-pack is the right drug but may not be the right dose. My advice would be to go get checked for gonorrhea and NGU. After that, therapy with doxycycline, given your modest response to azithromycin might be the way to go. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with step and put on a z-pack. My throat is swollen and sore, I can barely swallow. I have also noticed a large pus pocket right next to my uvula. It's been 3 days and I haven't gotten better at all. Is there anything else a doctor can give me to try and get the pus pocket and sore throat to go away?
Avatar n tn Or, is it pointless to take a 3-5 day course of Z-Pack now since I already took the 1g of Azithromycin approx 11 days ago? Please help!! Any advice is extremely appreciated!!
Avatar m tn This is a good question and the answer is that this is almost certainly effective therapy for chlamydial infection, HOWEVER, treatment of chlamydia with azithromycin has not been formally studied using this dosing schedule. Soon after azithromycin was released, it was shown that taking a Z-pack, consisting of 500 mg on day one, followed by several days of 250 mg per day was slightly less effective than a single 1.0 gram dose.
Avatar n tn There is a fair amount of resistance to Azithromycin (Z-pack) secondary to its popularity among providers...
Avatar m tn I have been to two optometrist and both prescribed me Z-pack because they believed it to be Chlamydia related. making a really really ....really long story short i have not taken either prescribed Z- pack antibiotics. I have been taking the precribed antibiotics my Primary Doc has given me but it wasnt Z- pack...this is such a long story and there is so much i want to tell and ask you but in short. Does Chlamydia affect or infect the eye causing redeness?
Avatar n tn Well they think i have it and gave me the pills incase. I get results next week. And yes same partner. I took her to the clinic to get tested and they ruled out BV even thought her family doctor assumed it was that. They insist that she has chlamydia and she gave it to me. They gave her a Z pack as well. Im just worried because i took my z pack on tuesday and im still having discharge.
Avatar n tn you could have easily had bronchitis which can cause purulent sputum (lime colored goo) as well...As caregiver said, Zithromax or the Z pack, is usually a good med for bacterial infections. If you find that your symptoms are getting worse despite therapy (such as increased sputum production, recurrent fevers, difficulty breathing, pain etc.), then I suggest you go back to the doctor for re examination, further testing if necessary, switching or addition of meds etc...
Avatar n tn On the day I got tested, I was administered Rocephin (IM shot) and oral Z-pack (Azithromycin). I got retested last week and the rectal swab came back Negative, but the throat swab remained positive. The doc told me that gonorrhea in the throat is tricky to teat and that this was becoming common. He ordered a culture w/ sensitivity and resistance testing to be done from a new throat swab. Why is gonorrhea from the throat such a challenge to treat?
Avatar n tn The azithromycin Z-pack would not help a virus, so your doctor must have thought a bacterial infection like strep was possible. However, with the symptoms continuing, a virus is much more likely. As for the "ironic" timing with your sexual exposure, maybe the two events in fact were related; i.e.you might have caught that from your escort partner, since sex is obviously close enough contact to transmit garden variety cold viruses, strep, etc. Or it's truly a coincidence.
Avatar f tn im 8 weeks pregnant and was giving a perscription for azithromycin for a bacterial infection is this harmful to my baby? when i take it each day i get really sick and tired what shouuld i do to make sure me and the baby are both healthy?
Avatar n tn I was also just taking a 5 day dose pack of azithromycin for a sinus infection. I started having heart palpatations as well. I have tachycardia anyways so I didn't really associate it with the medicine. It really started worrying me when my left arm started feeling weak and tingling. This usually also happens when I have an SVT attack but it goes away quickly. This tingling lasted all day. My heart palpatations were more frequent as well.
Avatar m tn I would have recommended against self-treatment with azithromycin (the Z-pack) -- but if you had in fact had some sort of infection from the sexual event, it would have been eradicated by that treatment. For all these reasons, you can be sure your current mild symptoms -- tingling after sex or masturbation -- is not due to any STD. Also, your urethra almost certainly has not been "severely damaged", and I'm confident your symptoms will fade over time.
Avatar f tn ve never had one before so I started freaking out and got tested, negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea. So my doctor thought it was some form of Uti so she gave me a Z pack (azithromycin) which covered a 5 day period. Today is the 6th day and I still have symptoms! So I really am worried because I'm not sure what's wrong.. I've taken two different doses of antibiotics so it can't be bacterial.. could it be my prostate?
Avatar n tn A z-pack is azithromycin. In the US, it comes in a pack of 5 pills, so its commonly called a z-pack. When taking it for chlamydia though, you just need 1 dose of 1000 mg. You wouldn't need the rest of the pills.
Avatar m tn 3) I have called my PCP and asked him to call me in a Z-pack, in case the symptoms I am currently having are due to some other type of infection. Will the Z-pack take care of any oral gonnorhea infection I may have? 4) Regarding syphilis, is there any concern at all? Is syphilis more common among Asians? I have looked at other posts with similar problems, and I do apologize if this appears redundant in any way.
