zithromax

Avatar f tn I was tested for Chlamydia which came back positive, My doctor gave me the one dose of Azithromycin . Its been a two weeks since I took the pills, and I'm having loose stools which it hasn't stop since I took the pose. Also I have a burning sensation on my vagina when I pee. About a week ago I had some white little dots on my vagina which have dissapear. My doctor says I have a UTI. But im still worried that It may be something else. Should I be tested for something else?
Avatar f tn Doctor immediately put me on Metronidazole and single dose of Azithromycin. Before I started the treatments, there was white discharge and fishy odor but no urge to constantly pee even after I had just emptied my bladder. After treatments, the discharge and odor has gone away but I now have a constant urge to pee and when I go to pee it’s very little and there is very slight burning. Is it possible that the azithromycin didn’t work or is this possibly a UTI?
Avatar m tn The culture DID NOT grow any of the regular bacteria associated with UTI. He instructed me to stop with the Bactrim and take the azithromycin 1mg x1. I'm going back in a week to get another urinalysis done. I'm freaking out a little bit though and thinking worst case scenarios. This past week my GF developed what appears to be a stomach flu. What if this is HSV-2 or even worse HIV and I gave it to her? Sorry it is my personality.
Avatar f tn I'm 23 years old, 1/22/18 I tested positive for Chlamydia after experiencing UTI like symptoms and was prescribed 2 azithromycin 500 mg tablets from planned parenthood. Symptoms disappeared but then reappeared 3 months later and I returned and tested positive again and was pescribed doxycycline 100mg tabs once a day for 7 days. After treatment my symptoms continued to persist and I worried that I was still not cured.
Avatar f tn I and my husband received IV continous infusion Clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise.
Avatar f tn The clinic that I went to gave me 1gram of Azithromycin and I was sent on my way. Within 2 days all my symptoms cleared up and I felt like everything was normal. Fast forward to now and once again I have a clear/milky discharge. I have no itching this time and when I urinate it only burns a little sometimes, but no where near the pain I experienced a month ago. I also am experiencing some uncomfortable feelings in my testicles and lower abdomen.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and he said it might be an infection of my urnairy tract system he prescribed me azithromycin 6 day medication. I think my anxiety is making it worst or overthinking. Does anyone feel the same?
Avatar f tn I found out I had chlamydia in April after going to the doctor for what I thought seemed like UTI symptoms. I was given azithromycin in the drink form. Me and my boyfriend both drank the meds, abstained from sex for 8 days, and symptoms seemed to be cured. In the past month or so I started noticing that the symptoms seemed to be returning. The only symptoms I have ever experienced were burning in the vagina and urethra. I went back to the dr again. Negative for a UTI, positive chlamydia.
Avatar m tn If you are found to still have urethritis, re-treatment may be recommended; the standard approach is to treat such men with azithromycin (Zithromax) with or without metronidazole (Flagyl and other brands). Please try to avoid urinating for at least 4 hours before being examined; this aids in detecting subtle evidence of urethritis. (Best is to arrange an early morning appointment, avoid fluids near bedtime, and get examined before first urination of the day.
Avatar f tn About a week ago, I started having burning and pain when I peed, so I went to the doctor suspecting a UTI. They told me that I did not have sufficent nitrates in my urine to say it was a UTI so they gave me a pap and told me they thought it was either Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. They perscribed a single dose of 500mg Cipro and 4 250mg (1000mg) of Azithromycin (I could be spelling that wrong).
Avatar f tn My doctor originally thought it was a UTI and gave me some antibiotics for that. I took them and started to feel slightly better, but the he called me a few days later and said my STD test came back positive for Chlamydia. He prescribed me (4) 250mg Azithromycin. I took those, and my symptoms started to clear. A few days went by and I felt fine. Then I started to get sharp pains in my left testicle.
Avatar n tn Went to Planned Parenthood and tested positive for Gonorrhea. I received the dual treatment of ceftriaxone and azithromycin. The symptoms cleared up and I though it was gone but a week water treatment I started to get discharge and burning again. I went to my PCP and he prescribed Cipro but after 2 doses I got tendon pain so stopped taking it. So I’m now thinking the original treatment didn’t kill it completely because it seems I had a really bad case.
Avatar f tn I believe I caught it 2 weeks previous when I slept with a new guy. My symptoms were uti Symptoms and a bit of yellowish discharge. I took 1000 mg of azithromycin, but it seemed to do nothing. I called and got sent macrobid thinking it was a lingering uti caused by the chlamydia. This also did nothing. I went back to a clinic and got retested positive for chlamydia again 2 weeks later. Took azithromycin again with no relief.
Avatar m tn A few days later I noticed a tingling sensation and burning after urination so I went to the doctor and received treatment on May 11th. I received a 3 muscular injection of Cephem for 3 days and a 1 week prescription of some antibiotics. I tried this for 2 weeks and was not making any progress except for after the injections. I went to a different hospital after my 3rd week there (larger hospital), and received vein injections of cefitriaxone and zithromax (azithromycin).
Avatar m tn Urine was sent off to lab, and the lab spilled sample so no additional testing was performed. Doctor treated me with an injection of Azithromycin and then 1g orally ()2 500mg pills which I took at the same time). Now, three days later, I'm still experiencing some burn and some burn during urination. If I actually did have an STD, is it normal that the symptons would linger until I'm completely healed?
Avatar n tn Your symptoms came on a bit too quickly to be due to an STD from the oral exposure, and continued symptoms despite (over) treatment with azithromycin pretty much rules out any bacterial infection. Your negative tests, however, are meaningless -- because you were treated before being tested. My advice is to sit tight for a couple of weeks. Most likely the symptoms will gradually fade. Of course if you develop a discharge or obvious penile sores of any sort, get reexamined right away.
Avatar m tn This is a good question and the answer is that this is almost certainly effective therapy for chlamydial infection, HOWEVER, treatment of chlamydia with azithromycin has not been formally studied using this dosing schedule. Soon after azithromycin was released, it was shown that taking a Z-pack, consisting of 500 mg on day one, followed by several days of 250 mg per day was slightly less effective than a single 1.0 gram dose.
Avatar m tn UTI is not a STD, try posting a UTI question in uriology. We don't deal with UTI's here.
Avatar n tn It also is often misdiagnosed in men who actually have sexually acquired nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), which in turn can cause UTI-like symptoms in women. Further, cipro is not the best drug for NGU. If your treatment has not included a tetracycline antibiotic (such as doxycycline) or azithromycin (Zithromax), you might discuss this aspect with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Urgent care said I had strep and he prescribed me a azithromycin and Diflucan for yeast (no swab). Well following Wed I was in tears when urinating from the urine touching my skin and knew I also had a uti. Went to hospital and doc said I had an std but had to wait 2 days. She gave me an iv of rocephin and prescribed me doxycycline. I took doxy as prescribed and informed partner. He got tested same day and I called two days later for results.
Avatar f tn This is your third or fourth question in the past few weeks about symptoms and treatment of UTI or possible STD. This is something that needs professional evaluation, as you were told before. Just do it.
Avatar f tn 2%) had a positive TOC following treatment with stat azithromycin. The risk of re-infection was excluded in two, identifying nine of the 11 (81.8%) as treatment failures. Two patients had a positive TOC following treatment with 1 week of doxycycline, both were found to have a risk of re-infection. There was a significantly higher treatment failure rate in patients receiving azithromycin (p=0.0025). The site claims that a regimen of one week of doxycycline has a success rate of 98.8%.
Avatar n tn I had unprotected sex with a friend on the 19th of August who just recently completed chemo. I was the first person she was with since her treatment and she was tested at the time for everything and was negative. A few days later I noticed tingling in my urethra and a week later I had slight pain after urinating. I also experienced some pain in the upper portion of my penis on the 26th but no itching or discharge.
Avatar m tn UTI you can get without anything sexual.
Avatar n tn so he told her she had a uti and gave her 5 days of cipro the discharge has went away but the urge to urinate is still there could it be a std all meds have been taken
